Roaring Dragon-Chapter 127.1: Extra Chapter: The Authority Pill of the Proper Wife
Lin Family Manor.
As night deepened, silence settled over the estate.
Inside the rear courtyard’s boudoir, the room was pitch black. Lin Wanyi lay on her back, arms crossed over her chest, gently biting her lower lip, endlessly replaying the earlier moment of intimacy.
So shameless... He definitely did that on purpose...
How could he use tongue...?
Ugh~ it’s enough to die of shame...
She tossed and turned for who knows how long until footsteps padded softly outside the room—then—
Creak~
Lin Wanyi tensed. Afraid she’d be snatched up and kissed again by Xie Jinhuan, she played dead to see what he’d do.
Would he steal a kiss?
Try to shake me awake?
Or, touched by my slumbering beauty, quietly leave without disturbing me...
The third option seemed oddly heartwarming. If he really left like that... she might even call out to stop him...
Unfortunately, the door shut softly, and footsteps drew nearer—
Tap tap—
?
Lin Wanyi furrowed her brow in the dark, assuming he was coming to wake her for training—but then the bed dipped, and—
Smack—!
A loud slap echoed through the room!
?!
Lin Wanyi jolted upright, eyes wide in shock and humiliation!
And from that humiliation... came a strange flutter in her chest.
Furious, she whipped around and grabbed the offending hand:
“You pervert! I’ll fight you to the—uh... wha...”
Her words cut off.
There were no lights, so she couldn’t see, but the slender, soft, jade-like wrist she clutched was terribly familiar...
And right then, a sweet voice whispered beside her:
“Auntie, why are you calling me a pervert? I’m a proper lady...”
(⊙﹏⊙)?!
Lin Wanyi felt like she’d been struck by lightning—her angry flush instantly replaced with sheer panic.
Huff~
A faint surge of Qi lit up the edge of the bed.
Lin Zisu raised her right hand, and the red jade on her wrist glowed softly, illuminating her delicate little face—and the enormous red peony right in front of her.
“Eh? Auntie, your face is super red. Are you feverish?”
“I... uh...”
Lin Wanyi blinked at the mischievous girl in shock, quickly sitting up:
“Zisu? Why are you back?”
Lin Zisu peered at her with suspicion. “Didn’t you write me a letter, telling me to visit?”
“I just wrote it—”
“Well, I rushed back as soon as I got it! Didn’t even tell Old Man Li at the academy. I even saw trouble brewing near the east gate just as I arrived...”
While talking, she kicked off her embroidered shoes and climbed onto the bed.
“Auntie, why are you still dressed?”
Wanyi had been waiting for Xie Jinhuan, so she didn’t dare undress. Her face reddened further:
“I was meditating. Just leaned back to rest. It’s late—why don’t you go back to your room?”
Zisu’s expression turned incredulous:
“Auntie, I rode boats and carriages for over a hundred li because of one letter, and you’re kicking me out now?”
“I didn’t mean it like that...”
Zisu wasn’t stupid. Seeing how her aunt stammered and looked dressed to kill even at night, she put two and two together and her eyes widened.
“Auntie, don’t tell me... you were waiting for someone? Xie Jinhuan?”
“Zisu!”
Lin Wanyi’s gaze turned stern as she tried to regain her proper-lady aura:
“What nonsense! Why would I be waiting for anyone? If you can’t sleep, I’ll chat with you for a bit. Then you can head back.”
Zisu half-believed her and scooted in closer, yanking up the blanket and asking excitedly:
“So Auntie, how’s it going with Xie Jinhuan? Did you guys cuddle yet?”
More than just cuddle...
Your aunt was nearly...
Lin Wanyi couldn’t say it. She lay rigid on the pillow, posturing like a prim old-school mother:
“You’re too young to be spouting nonsense. Xie Jinhuan’s in the capital for a case. I just came home for a bit. We barely saw each other.”
Zisu, definitely not that young, turned her aunt’s face toward her:
“Auntie, are you really this hopeless?”
“Pft—if you keep it up, I’m going to spank you!”
Zisu sighed dramatically. Clearly, her aunt needed stronger medicine. She rummaged in her pouch and pulled out a small red pill:
“I knew you’d chicken out. That’s why I spent the past few days making you the ‘Authority Pill of the Proper Wife.’ Try it!”
“The... what now?!”
“Proper Wife Authority Pill!”
Lin Wanyi stared at it, baffled:
“What’s it do?”
Zisu beamed. “It strengthens timid aunties! It not only boosts Qi and blood circulation—it helps you speak your mind! If you like someone, you’ll blurt it out. If you hate someone, you’ll yell it loud and proud! Downside: once it wears off, you might get a little embarrassed.”
Lin Wanyi had taken her niece’s pills before—not once had they matched the advertised effect. She frowned:
“You sure this isn’t another ‘Snuggle Now Candy’?”
Zisu, offended by the doubt, popped the pill herself.
“Hey—!”
Wanyi panicked. Gods alone knew what the result might be!
But after a few moments, Zisu didn’t go nuts. Instead, she sat up straight, crossed her arms, and leveled a frosty gaze at her aunt.
“?”
Lin Wanyi frowned. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Fwoosh—
Zisu threw off the covers, revealing her curvy figure and cold glare:
“Who says I’m looking at you? I’m looking at the family’s useless, expensive freeloader!
“Twenty years of feeding and grooming, and when the perfect man falls into your lap, you let someone else swoop in! What the hell are you good for?!”
“HEY?!”
Wanyi was stunned. This wasn’t the pill talking—this was a full-on ambush! She sat up, sleeves rolled:
“You brat! You’ve gotten too bold—”
“Go on, be fierce!”
Zisu stood hands on hips, fearlessly smug:
“Keep using your ‘auntie’ card! I’ll tell you right now—you’ve only got a few days left at the top!
“Once you’re married off, guess who you’ll have to come crying to when the in-laws bully you?
“You piss me off now, and when you come back sobbing from your husband’s house, don’t expect me to care!
“Go on, keep yelling! What, no comeback?”
“...”
Faced with the little tyrant’s fury, Lin Wanyi was seeing red. Her chest heaved in frustration.
But Zisu... wasn’t entirely wrong.
At sixteen, she was practically of age. She would eventually inherit the family’s medical legacy.
And once Wanyi was married, her strength came from her natal family.
Offending the future head of the household? She’d be bullied by sister-wives and beaten back home!
Wanyi sighed deeply and softened her tone:
“You’re too much... Fine, I won’t argue. Where’s the antidote? Take it already.”
“Why would I take an antidote?”
Zisu swatted her hand away, eyes gleaming with full-on matriarchal might:
“Even Grandma asked me to talk sense into you. I’m only sparing you because we’re like mother and daughter!
“If you don’t go after Xie Jinhuan now, do you think you can compete with Princess Changning or Linghu Qingmo later?
“What’s wrong with your brain?! Mush?!”
“Zisu!”
Wanyi’s scalp tingled. She didn’t want to argue with a kid, so she spoke gently:
“Alright, alright, I get it. Now please, take the antidote. We can’t talk like this...”
Zisu huffed and held out a hand:
“One hundred silver taels!”
“...Excuse me?”
Wanyi’s eyelids twitched.
You’re not even in charge yet and already this greedy?
“You get monthly allowance—”
“What can ten taels buy? I’ve made tons of pills for free at the clinic! Don’t act like you don’t know. If this is how you treat me—fine! Heaven sees all, and the Medicine King watches from above...”
“Fine, fine!”
Wanyi gritted her teeth, pulled out a silver note, and handed it over:
“Now take the antidote!”
Only then did Zisu smile, pocket the money, and swallow the antidote.
Her big sparkly eyes gradually softened into an embarrassed squint. She lay back, scooted away, and hid half her face under the blanket:
“Uh... sorry for what I said earlier. That was the pill talking...”
All wide-eyed innocence again~
Wanyi, relieved, adjusted her collar and glared a little:
“You’re lucky I knew you were spouting nonsense. Don’t let it happen again!”
I wasn’t lying... just speaking from the heart...
Zisu giggled and rolled out of bed:
“Got it~ I’m sleepy. Going to bed. Mwah mwah mwah~!”
“Wait!”
Zisu froze, hand on her pocket protectively.
Wanyi really wanted to get that silver back, but her niece had struck a nerve earlier. Instead, she asked:
“That ‘Proper Wife Pill’—if a man takes it, does it work the same?”
Zisu lit up and returned to sit down:
“For men? It becomes the ‘Overbearing Swagger Pill.’ Similar effects. But Auntie, don’t go testing it! What if Xie Jinhuan takes it and says, ‘Auntie’s good looks aside, what does she even have going for her? If she keeps being coy, I’ll make Mo-mo the official wife and her the side chick...’”
!!
Just hearing that made Lin Wanyi fume!
If Xie Jinhuan really thought that way, he wasn’t worth it at all!
“Who said I’d give it to him?! I was just asking! Go to bed!”
“Okaaay~”
Zisu skipped to the door.
But as she opened it, a black shadow zipped through the courtyard and landed right at the doorway!
Apparently spotting the wrong person inside, the figure exclaimed:
“Oh crap—”
They tried to reverse mid-air—unsuccessfully.
Thud!
The figure stumbled and landed on one knee.
Zisu froze—then dropped to her knees too when she saw who it was: the cold, handsome nobleman in black robes.
“Ahh! Young Master Xie?! Please—this gift is too much for a girl like me!”
“Uh...”
Moonlight glowed softly. At the boudoir door, a man and maiden were now awkwardly kneeling... like a wedding ceremony.
Xie Jinhuan had raced back from the Fengyi River after nursing the ice queen. He hadn’t expected Wanyi to have company while sneaking him in!
Mortified by the unintentional grand salute, he quickly propped himself against the doorframe, clutching his chest:
“Cough cough...”
“Eh?”
Lin Wanyi was mortified. But hearing the cough, her worry overtook the panic. She sprang from bed:
“Xie Jinhuan? What happened to you?”
“I got in a rough fight just now. Came to see Doctor Lin. Didn’t know Miss Zisu was here too... apologies.”
Zisu noticed how drained he looked and immediately got serious. She took his pulse and frowned:
“Qi Sea nearly empty. Muscles overstrained. No wonder you tripped. Good thing I brought a Swagger Pill!”
She whipped out a little red pill.
“Open up. Aaaah~”
“?”
If it were Wanyi, Xie Jinhuan would’ve obeyed without question.
But the Poison-Handed Medicine Girl? He hesitated:
“Um... Miss Zisu, what’s the side effect?”
Wanyi glanced aside and whispered:
“It’s just a Qi-replenisher. No harm. Take it.”
Zisu nodded: “Tons of energy. Guaranteed results!”
“Really?!”
Xie Jinhuan, hearing how valuable it was, didn’t want to waste it. He pocketed the pill and pulled out his Kirin Jade Pendant:
“Luckily, I brought this—speeds up Qi gathering. I’ll recover in two hours. I’ll save the pill for later.”
“Wow~”
Zisu’s eyes sparkled at the glowing jade.
“I’ve never seen one before. You’re amazing, Young Master Xie!”
“Feel free to play with it. Just return it tomorrow.”
“What about your recovery?”
“I’ll manage slowly. No rush.”
Zisu wasn’t fooled. She sensed he wanted her gone. She returned the pendant:
“No need—I’ll see it tomorrow. I’m tired now. Going to bed. Mwah mwah mwah~~”
And like the wind, she was gone!
—
Moonlight curved like a hook. The courtyard was silent.
Xie Jinhuan stood at the door, watching her vanish. He’d wanted to ask about the Burning Immortal Parasite, but it would have to wait.
Wanyi, left behind, panicked. Zisu had clearly abandoned her!
“Go! Hurry! She already noticed—eh?”
Before she could finish, the man at the door staggered and leaned on the threshold.
“Let me rest... a moment...”
Wanyi rushed over, checked his pulse, and confirmed it—Zisu hadn’t lied.
His Qi was thin, his blood in disarray—classic signs of overexertion, medicine use, and exhaustion. The fact that he could still joke around was sheer willpower.
“You... who were you fighting? How did you get this drained? Come inside...”
Xie Jinhuan was helped into the room, sighing to himself:
“Ran into a Dark God Cult rogue. Fought a long time before I blew him to pieces. Took a bit out of me.”
“You’re not even an official—why are you always risking your life?!”
Wanyi, full of heartache, helped him onto the bed, unfastened someone’s black robe, and checked for injuries.
She found his clothes shredded, pants full of holes, arms still lined with fading red welts...
Wanyi blinked:
“...The demon used lightning?”
Xie Jinhuan leaned back, blinking:
“Not much, or he’d have done more than scratch me. I’m fine. Just need a nap.”
“These fiends are vicious...”
Wanyi had seen him leave all confident. Now he looked ruined—like someone’s plaything. It broke her heart. She fetched a pair of pants, hesitating:
“My trousers probably won’t fit you... do you want to try these?”
She held up a pair of tights. Very elastic.
Hah?!
Xie Jinhuan stared at his long legs. After a pause, he replied:
“Probably not the best look. Why don’t you try them on for me?”
“Pfft! In your dreams!”
Wanyi shoved the tights back and muttered:
“Mother made Father a new outfit—I’ll go sneak it for you. Rest here.”
She tiptoed to the door, peeked out, and slipped away.
Click—
Seeing her sneak off to steal her dad’s clothes for him, Xie Jinhuan felt... deeply moved.
Ye Hongshang popped up too, lounging on the bedside:
“Wanyi’s the real deal, huh? Not like that ice block who just hits you.”
Xie Jinhuan turned, tried to smooch her ghost cheek—only to pass through and sigh:
“Be fair. That ice block did promise the Jiazi Lotus. Li Gongpu chipped in funds, Missing Moon Manor got the herbs. Once the pills are done, I’ll take one, seal the Demon Tomb, and we’ll be ahead of schedule.”
Ye Hongshang’s hauntingly pretty eyes blinked, and she rested her head on his shoulder:
“Oh my... then I guess we’ll be parting ways soon. I’ll return to my grave. Who knows if you’ll still be alive next time I wake—or just an old man with saggy skin...”
Xie Jinhuan’s brows twitched. His smile faded.
Yeah... if the tomb gets sealed, it’s goodbye to ghost-wife.
But honestly... she was kind of dangerous...
Ye Hongshang raised her eyes and traced his nose:
“What’s wrong? Gonna miss me?”
Xie Jinhuan grinned:
“I’m not ungrateful. Don’t worry—if I find out you’ve got issues, I’ll fix them, dig you up, and sort it out. You know I get things done.”
“What if you can’t?”
“If I can’t...”
He looked at the seductive ghost beside him.
“...Then you’ve really screwed me over.”
“Heh~”
Ye Hongshang liked that. She gave him a sultry look, biting her lip:
“At least you’ve got a conscience. Want a reward?”
“...What kind?”
She gave him a once-over, then summoned a crystal orb.
Inside: the Fengyi River terrace. The cold beauty diving into the tub.
Zoom. Freeze. Enhance.
“?!”
Xie Jinhuan freaked out, waving his hands:
“No, no! I bully people face-to-face. If she finds out, I’ll lose the lotus and my life! Delete that—”
Ye Hongshang frowned.
“Fine. Want something you like?”
He turned back, hoping for a 3D hologram.
But on screen was... Steward Hou.
“Change it back—change it back—!”
Ye Hongshang smirked:
“Ghost-sis isn’t your plaything. You asked for it. Watch a bit of this and I’ll show you something better.”
What?! Forced ads now?!
Xie Jinhuan tried to find a close button. No luck. He just turned away.
—
Tap tap tap...
In the courtyard walkway, all was quiet.
Lin Wanyi carried a change of clothes, a basin of hot water, and a towel. She tiptoed across the corridor, ensured no one was around, and ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) shoulder-bumped the door open:
“Xie...?”
Inside, a small lamp glowed.
The sleeveless young man leaned on the headboard, eyes closed, flailing and bobbing...
“Xie Jinhuan?!”
Wanyi froze, slammed down the basin, and lunged to his side, slapping his face:
“What’s wrong?!”
Smack smack smack—
Xie Jinhuan jolted awake, blinking up at the stunning woman before him:
“Uh... neck was stiff. Just stretching...”
“Really?!”
She checked his pupils, pinched his philtrum hard, and only relaxed when he gasped.
“You scared me to death! I thought the room was haunted!”
Xie Jinhuan mentally cursed his ghost-wife but couldn’t explain. He sat up awkwardly:
“Just bored. Don’t worry.”
Wanyi brought over the water basin and towel and gently wiped the dirt from his body:
“Lie down. Don’t move.”
Xie Jinhuan felt warm and fuzzy inside. He tried to help, but she wouldn’t let him. So he lay there, letting her clean him up.
Maybe it was exhaustion, or maybe her scent was too calming, but soon... he fell asleep.
Wanyi kept wiping gently. Seeing his peaceful face, her heart clenched.
After a moment’s thought, she leaned down—
Smooch~
He didn’t stir.
She exhaled softly, propped herself at the bedside, and watched his face.
And as sleep finally took her, she dozed off with her head beside his pillow...
