Chapter 385: Chapter 358: Let Me Go

Fu Jichen stared at her lips, full and red like cherries, his eyes darkening, his voice becoming even more alluring: "Is that so?"

"Yes." Shen Jianian sat on a small white wooden chair draped in light gauze, her long dress fanning out at her feet like a blossom unfurling to its fullest.

"Then why do I see you looking a bit tipsy..." As he spoke, Fu Jichen involuntarily lowered his neck, gradually drawing closer to her lips, his warm breath misting over her face.

Just as they were about to touch, Shen Jianian tilted her head slightly, her breath laden with the scent of alcohol: "What are you trying to do?"

Fu Jichen paused, sighing silently, and after three seconds, spoke gently and slowly: "At a time like this, you should remain silent and then close your eyes."

"Oh." Shen Jianian looked as though she had just realized, "You want to kiss me."

Fu Jichen was quite certain she was drunk, or at least tipsy.

"Is that right?" Not hearing his response, Shen Jianian asked again.

"You’re really clever, you guessed it." Fu Jichen spoke, his tone slightly helpless, "Would this beautiful lady kindly close her eyes now?"

Before he could kiss her, Shen Jianian proactively leaned in, kissed his lips, and pulled back before he could react, her eyelashes dropping slightly: "I’m sorry."

"Why apologize?" Fu Jichen was momentarily stunned, pursing his lips slightly, savoring the touch left by her kiss, like candy dissolving on his lips.

Shen Jianian’s voice was soft, tinged with guilt, a bit shaky: "You know why."

Fu Jichen understood; she was apologizing for what happened before. He lifted her face buried in her hands and looked into her eyes. Shen Jianian saw clearly that there was no hint of blame in his eyes, only affection and joy.

He said, "Actually, when you questioned me earlier, I was quite happy."

Shen Jianian frowned, not comprehending how he could be happy after what she had done to him.

Fu Jichen continued, "That you could ask me directly, rather than keeping it to yourself and letting your mind run wild, escalating the situation, made me happy. In the future, do the same, ask me directly if you have any questions, don’t hold it in and sulk. If there’s a problem, let’s communicate positively and solve it."

Shen Jianian’s nose tingled again: "Why are you so good to me?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Fu Jichen: "You’ve asked this question before."

Shen Jianian no longer had any doubts, no other emotions, all the good and bad were wiped clean by his words. She lifted her hands to wrap around his neck, this time without hesitation, kissing his lips passionately, deeply.

The surrounding clamor seemed to fade away in an instant, as the two white wooden chairs formed a separate world, a world with just the two of them, kissing with abandon.

A sudden "bang" startled Shen Jianian, and their kiss was interrupted as she nestled into Fu Jichen’s embrace, her face turning towards the sound.

Under the starless, moonless dark blue sky, a gigantic firework unfurled, golden and pouring down countless threads, so beautiful that viewers forgot to breathe.

Moments later, a second, third, and fourth firework bloomed in quick succession, the vibrant colors decorating the dark, dull night, bringing another climax to tonight’s wedding banquet.

Shen Jianian was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open, yet she didn’t want to blink. She craned her neck up high, watching the sprawling fireworks with Fu Jichen, their hands tightly clasped together.

A blue firework burst open, causing the entire crowd to gasp in awe.

Shen Jianian couldn’t help but cover her mouth with her hands, letting out a low cry: "So beautiful! Ah, I forgot to capture it on my phone." After speaking, she hurriedly searched for her phone, then remembered she hadn’t touched it all day and didn’t know where she had put it.

Fu Jichen, with an arm around her shoulders, leaned close to her: "Our eyes are cameras too; seeing it is enough for our brains to store."

Shen Jianian pouted: "But I have a bad memory."

"That’s okay." Fu Jichen laughed, his tone as solemn as making a vow to her, "We have plenty of time. If you forget, I will put on another firework show for you to remember again."

Shen Jianian’s heart melted completely, giving up on finding her phone, she leaned back into Fu Jichen’s embrace, quietly admiring the fireworks that seemed never-ending.

However, no firework lasts forever. When the last one faded, silence enveloped them, and the night sky returned to its dark monotony. Everyone remained in their pose of looking up, savoring the splendid display they had just witnessed.

After a long time, when they came to their senses and turned to find the leading figures of the day, they discovered that the two tightly embracing figures on the white wooden chairs had vanished without a trace.

Entering the elevator, Shen Jianian drooped her head and murmured "Tired," becoming more and more boneless, slumping against Fu Jichen, closing her eyes, feeling she could sleep standing.

The elevator arrived, the doors slowly opening to each side. Shen Jianian struggled to lift her heavy eyelids and prepared to step out. In the next second, Fu Jichen bent down and picked her up horizontally, striding out of the elevator.

Shen Jianian was stunned for just a second, then effortlessly enjoyed her husband’s services, raising her hands to hang around his neck, asking, "Aren’t you tired?"

The hallway was lined with thick red carpet, and Fu Jichen’s steps were steady, carrying her without a sound, as if holding her was an effortless affair.

To her question, Fu Jichen replied, "Even if I hold another wedding, I wouldn’t feel tired."

Shen Jianian opened her mouth to plead, "Spare me, please."

"So tired?" Fu Jichen chuckled, pressing his thin lips to her ear, whispering, "Then... what about the wedding night tonight?"
