Chapter 143: Her Grandparents Returned

"You’re insane! You’ve gone crazy!" Qin’s mother’s mind went blank, filled with confusion and anxiety. She had no idea how to suppress her inner fear, except to mutter quietly.

"Whether I’m crazy or not is none of your concern. Just be honest and don’t try to act cunning day by day. Oh, and don’t forget about Qin Mingcheng’s upcoming wedding to my sister. There isn’t much time left, and I haven’t seen any preparations from you. I warn you, don’t even think about stalling, or I might get upset, and who knows what I might do." Su Yijia issued another warning with skepticism.

Extreme humiliation and fear overwhelmed the emotions of the Qin family. However, they had no means to deal with Su Yijia’s threats. They stood there, helpless and trembling with fear.

Su Yijia looked at their pitiful expressions and warned them one last time. Feeling satisfied, she turned and went back to finish her meal. After bullying the Qin family, she was in such a good mood that she ate two large bowls of nice even with the indescribable dishes. Eventually, her belly became round and bloated, and she lazily slouched in her chair.

Qin Mingcheng and Qin’s mother, their faces still darkened with anger, hastily left the house.

After about two hours when Su Yijia and Qin Kaize had finished a bath, they dragged a somewhat unwilling Su Xinyue back home.

"I’m warning you, you are a part of the Qin family now. Don’t associate with disreputable people outside. If you disgrace the Qin family, I’ll make sure you regret it," Qin’s mother warned Su Xin. She thought about the recent incident, reached out, and twisted Su Xin’s arm forcefully, causing her to cry out in pain.

As Su Xinyue winced in pain and was about to put on a pretense of looking pitiful, she saw Su Yijia standing there, her hands crossed over her chest, gloating at the situation. Su Yijia was grinning sadistically. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Su Xinyue’s mind buzzed. The intense hatred couldn’t even surface as it was quickly overshadowed by immense fear, nearly causing her brain to shut down. Her trembling fingertips couldn’t be controlled, and she took two steps back in fear, losing the courage even to act in front of Qin’s mother.

Click, she even thought this Su Xinyue would come looking for trouble. Su Yijia sneered with disdain. However, when she thought about it, Su Xinyue was, after all, the original female lead from the book.

Able to manipulate many men at her fingertips, aside from some exceptional treasures that could allure men to lose their reason, Su Xin’s acting skills and intelligence were at least considerable.

"What are you looking at? I warn you, don’t cause us any trouble," Qin’s mother warned Su Xinyue, who was still daring to look at Su Yijia. Frightened, Qin’s mother violently twisted Su Xin’s arm, making her step back in fear. Then, she shoved her inside the small building, afraid that Su Xinyue would make them all suffer.

Even after they had entered the small building, Su Yijia could still hear Qin’s mother’s grumbling voice.

"This is so annoying," Su Yijia muttered as she rubbed her ears and headed to the kitchen to pour a glass of cold water for herself.

The next day, Su Yijia stayed home, distilling her Whitening Lotion in the yard.

Yesterday, when Zhu Zirui left, she asked him to deliver another three hundred bottles. He would also come over for lunch around noon.

This was the first batch of lotion she distilled, and she had just put it in the room to cool when she heard a knock on the gate.

Was it someone coming to make trouble for her again?

Su Yijia pondered in her mind but quickly dismissed the thought. There couldn’t be anyone causing her problems. The people related to her had all been handed over to the police, except for Su Xinyue. Nobody could have slipped through the cracks and still be causing trouble.

But Qin’s father and Qin’s mother had gone to work, while early in the morning, Su Xinyue cried and successfully made Qin Mingcheng soften and take her out. Gao Huabin had already gone to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy groceries. With so many people, they probably wouldn’t be back so soon.

So, with a question mark in her mind, Su Yijia went to open the door. When she saw the man standing outside, her eyes lit up.

"Uncle Xia, why did you come?" Su Yijia asked happily.

Xia Weiguo smiled and looked at her with a loving expression. "Not only did I come back, but I also brought two people with me."

He stepped aside so that Su Yijia could see the people behind him. They were two elderly people wearing clean, new clothes. However, their weathered and deeply tanned skin showed that they had led a difficult life. Despite that, the two elderly people appeared to be in good spirits. Upon seeing Su Yijia, their eyes turned red in an instant.

"Grandpa? Grandma?" Su Yijia cautiously asked.

"My granddaughter! You’ve suffered, and grandfather and grandmother have finally seen you," the old lady said through sobs, breathless as she hugged Su Yijia. Her trembling body revealed her heartache.

Su Yijia felt somewhat uncomfortable and stiffened her body. She glanced at the elderly man standing beside her, wiping his tears.

"You don’t hate me?" Su Yijia asked, puzzled.

"Why would we hate you? You’re our only granddaughter, the child we’ve imagined countless times in our hearts even before you were born. Unfortunately, we weren’t capable of staying by your side all along, and that’s how you ended up getting mistreated by those wicked people," Grandpa Lin replied. He couldn’t help but think about his nephews and nieces, and he had a strong desire to confront them face to face.

"However, if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have been caught and subjected to all sorts of hardships. My mother wouldn’t have been killed by others due to the weakness caused by giving birth to me. And my father’s blood flows in my veins. Wouldn’t you hate me because he caused you to suffer and his flood flows in my veins?" Su Yijia calmly explained, listing her reasons.

In fact, even if they had such thoughts, she considered it quite normal. Even the best of people would initially not have such thoughts. Yet, after twenty years of performing the heaviest tasks, enduring the disdain of others, going without food and proper clothing, it was impossible for anyone to maintain a normal mindset without the slightest trace of resentment.

Honestly, looking at things from another perspective, she wouldn’t be able to be as magnanimous as they were.

"We hate your father, but we don’t hate you at all. You are the only blood connection we have with our daughter, the precious gift she left us. How could we possibly hate you?" Grandma Lin straightened her back and looked directly into Su Yijia’s eyes.

In those cloudy and dim eyes, a sincere and resolute light shone through. There was even a hint of contentment.

These twenty years were filled with hardship and challenges. It was their daughter, Baozhu, and the child in her belly who had kept them going, gritting their teeth to persevere. Even though the leader who found them had informed them about Baozhu’s death twenty years ago, which almost took away half of their lives, they had already sensed something was amiss long before.

Baozhu, despite being pampered and delicate, was a very filial person. If she were still alive, they would have received some news during these twenty years. So, in their hearts, there was a vague sense of premonition.

They had spent the past decade or so discussing, in harmony, what kind of life their grandchildren would have.
