Chapter 149: Taking Qin Kaize Away

"Why were you acting guilty just now? Don’t bother with those pretty lies. Uncle Xia and my husband might not have thought of it before, but you didn’t think they’d be oblivious to what you were up to, did you?" Su Yijia smirked with a hostile attitude.

Qin’s father and mother were genuinely afraid.

The more they tried to appear calm, the more they exposed themselves. Su Yijia was very satisfied with their performance.

Investigating the events of over twenty years ago was a difficult task. So it had to be left to professionals. Since Ke Zeming was so skillful, someone as experienced as Uncle Xia would undoubtedly be even better. The best way to find a snake lurking in the grass was to disturb the grass.

With Uncle Xia’s expertise and Qin’s parents’ urgency to destroy evidence, if they couldn’t uncover the truth, it would be absurd.

"You’re just a lunatic! Our family’s cursed because we married you as our daughter-in-law! Do as you please, and think whatever you like. We have a clear conscience," Qin’s father couldn’t be bothered to argue with Su Yijia any longer. He turned and hurried into the house.

"Uncle Xia, did you see it? His retreating figure is practically screaming guilt and panic. Even a blind person wouldn’t believe that they’re innocent," Su Yijia teased with her head tilted, addressing the man across from her.

This made Qin’s mother, who had initially wanted to leave, stiffen even more. In the end, she took two more hesitant steps forward. When she realized her mistake, she tried to change direction but heard Su Yijia’s merciless ridicule.

"Ts-ts-ts, look at these guilty consciences," Su Yijia chuckled.

Qin Mingcheng and Su Xinyue exchanged glances. Their expressions differed, but neither dared to speak. They rushed to support Qin’s mother, who had legs like jelly, and left.

Once they were gone, Xia Weiguo furrowed his brows and asked, "Yijia, how did you suspect that something was wrong with those two?"

"Last time, Wei Shufen said something about gratitude for being raised is greater than that of being born. I questioned her briefly, and she was as guilty as a fox. I had my doubts back then. But since you weren’t here, I was afraid that pursuing it would alert them, so I pretended not to have noticed anything. After all, if they knew I was suspicious, they’d surely destroy the evidence before you arrived. Besides, they were wary of both you and Kaize. Bluffing wouldn’t work with them. Only when I suddenly played along could I see their true reactions. Anyway, you saw it, Uncle Xia. They must be hiding something. I’m not good at investigating, so we’ll have to rely on you."

If they really did something to Kaize’ mother, that’s murder. With Uncle Xia’s skills, he would definitely seek revenge for Kaize’s mother and send them to hell.

Even if Qin Zongyao was flawless, there’s Su Xinyue waiting as a backup. Don’t talk about fictional plots or what’s written in books. She was narrow-minded and vengeful. Whoever tried to harm her, she would take revenge on them with all her might. Moreover, she didn’t come to the same end as the original host, not because the Qin family shew mercy but because she had the ability, not letting the Qin family succeed.

"Yijia! Thank you for uncovering such a great secret for us. Believe me. I won’t let them get away with it. I’ll make sure to handle this matter properly," Xia Weiguo said.

Qin Kaize hated his useless body for not being able to seek revenge for his own mother. He could only blink in compromise.

Su Yijia reached out to hold his hand and whispered, "It’s best if Uncle Xia handles this kind of thing. We just watch from the sidelines, and it’ll be quite entertaining to see them struggle."

"Alright, let’s watch the show together," Qin Kaize, now somewhat calmer, agreed with his wife.

Xia Weiguo couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional on the side. He had been looking after Kaize for over twenty years, and whatever he said often went unheeded. Now, his wife’s words held more sway than his. All men were truly the same.

"Uncle Xia, let me help stop the bleeding on your hand," Su Yijia said with concern when she saw the crimson blood continually dripping from his palm.

Xia Weiguo glanced at the wound on his palm and shook his head, "It’s nothing, just a minor injury."

"The ointment is already prepared; you can try it to see its effectiveness," Su Yijia said. She didn’t think that such a small injury was minor. People from their unit always considered themselves as tough as iron.

"Is this the ointment Ke took back to the unit for experiments?" Xia Weiguo suddenly became interested.

Su Yijia nodded.

He then smiled and said, "Alright, let’s give it a try. I want to see if this rumored miraculous medicine lives up to its reputation."

Although they had only recently retrieved the ointment and brought it back to their unit, he had already heard rumors about its extraordinary effectiveness. He was genuinely interested in trying it out.

Su Yijia fetched the ointment, which was stored in a clamshell, and applied a thick layer to Xia Weiguo’s palm.

"Uncle Xia, just wait here, I’ll go make dinner," she said before getting up to leave.

Just then, she noticed Gao Huabin standing aside, eagerly watching her.

She quickly said, "I’ve prepared all the medicinal herbs. I’ll start making the ointment tonight or tomorrow, so they should be able to use it by the day after tomorrow at the latest."

Even though everything was piling up at once, Su Yijia had a plan in mind. She needed to make the Functional Restoration Lotion into ointment for the people who had come work in Hu City and also prepare the lotion for Xu Li’an and his family.

She also wondered if the crops in the village could still be harvested since Xu Li’an had moved to the city. If not, she’d have to find another source for a large quantity of oilseed crops.

"Thank you, Sister-in-law!" Gao Huabin immediately broke into a silly grin.

Su Yijia shook her head and then headed into the kitchen. Her grandparents followed her inside to help with dinner.

After they finished their meal, Su Yijia decided to pack all their stuff and take Qin Kaize and head back to the small building. She figured she could stay at the Qin family’s house for just a few more days after the wedding banquet was held so that she could make sure Qin Mingcheng married Su Xinyue.

Spending every day at the Qin family’s home might affect the three of them in conducting their schemes.
