Chapter 31: Debt 31 - Conflict in the Dungeon

Ryan’s group arrived at the A-Rank dungeon site without any issues.

They could see curious adventurers.

And arrogant ones.

But at least in Ryan’s group, everyone knew their own strengths well enough not to pay attention to any mistreatment, even if it came from an S-Rank.

Because after all, they were also considered an S-Rank party.

Ryan turned around, and there they were.

Three pairs of eyes looking directly at him, each wearing a massive smile.

"Why are you all so excited? It’s just an A-Rank dungeon; it shouldn’t be a big deal for you."

"But it’s an unexplored dungeon, that’s exciting..." Mirian commented.

Helen approached Ryan. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"And besides, it will be the first time we enter a dungeon as S-Ranks."

"And for me... it will be the first time I’m in a dungeon as part of Team Ryan."

"Team Ryan? What kind of name is that, haha."

"Hahaha."

The guard began to speak loudly.

"Alright, it’s time. You may enter!"

"YES!" The roar of the adventurers resonated.

Everyone rushed in through the massive dungeon rift.

Helen and Mirian took Ryan by the hand and ran inside the dungeon together.

Karol followed them, staff now in hand.

Once everyone was inside the dungeon, one of the S-Rank heroines stepped forward.

"This is the first floor. As you know, an A-Rank dungeon has 75 floors. Each floor is quite vast, so each group will take on a pool of monsters. Any items you find are yours to keep—no arguments!"

"Yes!" the adventurers shouted.

’They look so excited. Well, I understand why. I just hope everything goes well. With so many adventurers, I doubt the demons will want to attack us.’

"Ryan, Karol, Helen. Are you ready?" Mirian asked, summoning her epic bow.

"Of course, let’s go get those treasures," Helen added, summoning her sword.

Karol nodded.

"Alright, let’s move out!" the S-Rank shield heroine declared.

As they all moved forward and reached the center of the corridor, a light connecting four points in the room surrounded them.

"What is this...?"

"Is this supposed to happen?"

They murmured.

Karol grabbed Ryan by the sleeve of his trench coat.

"Ryan, this is..."

"Get out of here!" one of the heroines shouted, but before anyone could move, the light covered them completely.

No more voices could be heard, and the entire place was empty.

But that wasn’t all. It was no longer the same place as before; Ryan was surrounded by a vast and colorful array of flowers.

’I was transported just like that other time... am I in a garden now?’

He began to look around.

There was no sign of the girls in his group or any other adventurers.

’No doubt about it, this is the work of demons. Was their intention to separate us? I wonder if every adventurer ended up alone...’

"Falling into a demon trap is annoying, and I don’t even know what floor I’m on now."

Ryan began to explore the area.

He spotted several warriors with swords.

’There are the first dungeon mobs.’

Ryan approached.

"Inspect"

"There are several of them with very similar stats, but they aren’t much of a threat. I must still be on the lower floors... or so I think."

When the monsters saw him, they lunged and attacked.

"Fire Aura."

With his gloves now ablaze, Ryan began to fight; he was able to adapt quickly.

The enemies were a type of living armor, with no one inside.

Each sword strike they threw at him was quite powerful.

Ryan dodged them with ease.

After defeating the first pool of monsters, he moved on to the next.

After a while, he had finished off all the monsters in the area.

Only one unexplored area remained.

A massive number was engraved on the door.

The number seven.

"Only the boss room left, right?"

When Ryan opened the door, the first thing he saw was a massive set of armor with four arms and swords of light.

"This is a good chance to test that..." Ryan smiled and pulled the boomerang from his inventory.

Ryan projected the intense fire from his gloves onto the boomerang.

As the boss lunged at him, Ryan took a slightly reckless combat stance, keeping the flaming boomerang away from his body.

"I’ve been dying to try this."

Ryan smiled and, maintaining his pose, fixed his gaze on the boss and sprinted toward it. His speed definitely surpassed the fastest human in his original world.

That excitement set his mind ablaze, bursting into a satisfying rush of adrenaline.

When he took the sword strike from that massive golem-like armor, he dodged it easily and struck it with his fire boomerang, sending it tumbling several meters away as it momentarily caught fire.

When the massive armor recovered, it rushed him again; Ryan threw the boomerang with all his might, splitting the armor in two.

It vanished almost instantly.

"That was a real thrill!"

When the boss vanished, it dropped an item.

Ryan reached down and picked it up.

It was a brown piece of paper with a strange symbol that was illegible to him, and a name engraved on it.

"Could this be one of those scrolls Karol mentioned?"

"So... how do I activate this scroll called Stone Skin?"

The scroll dissolved.

’Did it activate?’

"A human?" A murmur echoed from the dark shadows of the room.

A light surrounded Ryan’s body.

Almost immediately, what looked like a sword wreathed in fire was clashing against his neck.

The brilliant light flowing through his body was protecting him from the attack.

He realized it was a demon boy holding the sword, aiming for his throat and clashing against the hard aura shield.

"Inspect," Ryan uttered while the demon continued to press against the aura shield protecting him.

’A Principality?’

"Tsk." The demon boy clicked his tongue in disgust and stepped back.

Ryan recoiled in surprise. He hadn’t noticed the demon’s presence until the sword was at his neck.

The aura surrounding him shattered into pieces and vanished.
