Chapter 32: Apologise...

Deming and his friend were just entering their tent when loud screams came from inside. The two boys had on looks of utter terror as they ran out screaming. Soon after gut-wrenching screams came from the other boys’ tent and they also ran out their faces ghastly like they had encountered a man-eating monster.

Qie Xieling, "..."

Luo Muchen glanced at him with a look that seemed to say praise me, I did an excellent job. Teacher Wong came running like Captain America ready to save the day.

"Deming, why are you screaming like that? What is it?!" he yelled as the other students came out curious to see what was up.

Deming was rolling on the ground terrified half to death. "Get it off me... get it off me! Mum save me," he screamed and Qie Xieling couldn’t help himself. He broke out in laughter while teacher Wong helped Deming up.

The park rangers went in to take a look and came out holding a hairy spider from Deming’s tent. In the other tent, they found a harmless lizard looking at them with its beady eyes seeming confused. It was just sun basking on a rock when it suddenly went dark.

When the light returned it found itself in a cozy pile of clothes. Sure the clothes stinked but it was so warm. Who would have thought that its sleep would be disturbed by the howling of ghosts?

Qie Xieling couldn’t take it anymore. He burst out in roaring laughter the kind that would have tears rolling on one’s face and their belly aching.

He leaned against Luo Muchen’s shoulder while laughing himself to death and he wasn’t alone. Even teacher Wong was infected by his laugh and chuckled.

The crowd dispersed while laughing at the coward afraid of a tiny lizard and spider and as soon as the teachers left, Deming walked over to the picnic table where the three were sitting.

With a bang, he hit the table and pointed at Luo Muchen. "You dick, we had a deal. I deleted it yet you pulled this stunt," he said and Qie Xieling suddenly got up and clasped his collar over the table.

Bo Ailun hurriedly got up to hold back Qie Xieling but he found that he was lacking in strength. "Who do you think you are talking to? Apologise to the class president... now," he said in a tyrannical voice.

Deming’s friends rushed over to stop him but Qie Xieling glared at them fiercely that they didn’t dare come close. He pointed at Fabin and said, "Don’t interfere. I still haven’t settled accounts with you yet."

Fabin was so frightened that he took a step back. He blamed Deming for this. Who said that it would be fun to mess with Qie Xieling?

Qie Xieling turned his gaze towards Deming and clutched his collar even tighter while saying, "Apologise." The two of them stared at each other stubbornly with neither of them willing to back down. Qie Xieling chuckled lightly as he loosened his grip which gave Deming a false sense of hope. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The next second his head was being pressed on the picnic table and he saw black spots. "Fine fine fine... I will apologise. Class president, I was wrong. I am sorry," he said and Qie Xieling looked at Luo Muchen while asking,

"Are you satisfied?"

Luo Muchen was in such a trance that he didn’t respond for a while. Something about Qie Xieling protecting him made him feel all fuzzy inside like a plushy.

"I am so sorry class president," wailed Deming bringing Luo Muchen back to reality.

"Let him go," said Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling showed a toothy smile before letting him go.

Deming got up like he had been shot with a bolt of lightning. He touched his face while staring at Qie Xieling with a resentful gaze.

Qie Xieling couldn’t help but want to provoke him further. With a light chuckle, he said, "Ey, Deming... if you keep staring at me like that I will start to think you like me."

Deming gritted his teeth as his friends pulled him back. As soon as he was gone Qie Xieling met Luo Muchen’s gaze and asked, "What?"

Luo Muchen shook his head and said nothing. Bo Ailun patted Luo Muchen’s shoulder while saying, "Class president I underestimated you. I didn’t think you had it in you."

Qie Xieling looked at the hand that was bypassing him to touch Luo Muchen and without much thought he took it off of Luo Muchen while saying, "I know where your filthy paws have been. Don’t touch our class president," he said and Bo Ailun couldn’t help but sniff them.

"They smell like caramel," he said and Qie Xieling grabbed them to smell them but before he could Luo Muchen stopped him.

In turn, Qie Xieling sniffed his (Luo Muchen’s) before saying, "Class president your hands smell so nice and they are soft."

Luo Muchen, "..."

"What’s up with you and smells?" asked Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling touched the inside of Luo Muchen’s hand while saying,

"Who doesn’t like things that smell nice?" he said but Luo Muchen retracted his hand abruptly. That’s because Qie Xieling’s fingertips were tickling him.

Qie Xieling mistook it for rejection so he said, "I will touch yours Chubs instead."

Bo Ailun was more than willing. He stretched out his hand to touch him but Luo Muchen swooped in taking them away.

"Time for campfire stories and marshmallows," said the female teacher asking them all to gather.

Bo Ailun hurriedly got up and said, "This little brother will save you seats," before jumping over the picnic table.

Qie Xieling bumped Luo Muchen’s shoulder while saying, "Did you scare them on my behalf?"

Luo Muchen’s throat rolled as he looked at the fingers that were touching his. He was so afraid that he would sweat so much and disgust Qie Xieling but Qie Xieling didn’t seem to get enough of touching. To distract himself he asked, "What do you want to do with the video I took?"

Qie Xieling looked up and smiled as a flicker of maliciousness flashed in his eyes. "I want to post it. That will teach him not to mess with me," he said and the two stared at each other with tacit understanding.

Luo Muchen decided to risk it all and ask if they can be friends now when like a vengeful ghost, Lee Ya sat next to Qie Xieling and with a cute smile and a voice of an angel she called, "Lin Lin."

One word that best described Luo Muchen’s emotions would be ’livid’.
