Seizing Destiny From Heavens Hands-Chapter 416: Come On, Follow Me Inside
Chapter 416: Come On, Follow Me Inside
Wang Xing’an was holding a wine gourd in his hand. The moment he landed, he took a big swig, glug glug glug.
Then he wiped the corners of his mouth with his commander’s robe.
That once-mighty robe was now stained with oil, sweat, and liquor.
Ning Tianying immediately frowned, but still forced herself to speak. “Commander Wang, these two Demon-Suppressing Guards—one is named Shen Mo, the other is Li Heitan—have volunteered to serve in the Armory.”
Wang Xing’an laughed heartily and gave both Shen Mo and Li Heitan heavy pats on the shoulder. “Good! Anyone willing to come to the Armory is a true man!”
“Tianying, when you get back, tell old Zhong to send something over to the Armory for me.”
Ning Tianying blinked. “Send what?”
Wang Xing’an scowled. “Wine, of course! In this cold weather, how do you expect the Demon-Suppressing Guards here to warm themselves without wine?”
Ning Tianying sighed. “Alright, I’ll pass on the message. But whether Commander Zhong is willing to send it—that’s his call.”
“Hmph, I’d like to see him refuse. I saved his life on the battlefield once, you know!” Wang Xing’an scoffed.
Ning Tianying gave Shen Mo and Li Heitan one last look before turning to leave quickly.
She was afraid if she stayed any longer, she’d end up turning into another Wang Xing’an herself.
Once she was gone, Wang Xing’an waved his hand dramatically. “Come on, follow me inside!”
Shen Mo and Li Heitan looked at each other.
Inside?
Technically accurate, but it still sounded a little… off.
Wang Xing’an suddenly stomped on the ground and, like a ball of flesh, launched himself into the air and soared over the gate, crashing into the Armory.
Shen Mo and Li Heitan: “……”
No wonder the gate was rusty and overgrown with weeds.
So you don’t even use the main entrance?
“Brother Shen, should we… jump too? But the gate looks kinda high…” Li Heitan scratched his head.
Shen Mo grabbed his shoulder and, with a powerful stomp, leapt into the air.
With a rush of wind like a tiger’s roar, Li Heitan found himself standing on solid ground.
He looked back and saw the rusted iron gate now behind them.
“Damn, Brother Shen! You’ve got some serious strength! You carried me over like it was nothing?”
From the corner of his eye, Wang Xing’an caught Shen Mo’s effortless landing and was a bit surprised.
He muttered to himself, “Not bad at all. No wonder he could cultivate such a strange technique.”
“General Zhang, you really tossed a gem into my Armory.”
Shen Mo looked around.
Behind the gate was a spacious, level plaza.
There weren’t many weeds.
But the ground was cracked in many places and clearly hadn’t been repaired properly.
Directly ahead stood four enormous warehouses.

Each one was at least twenty zhang tall.
It wasn’t hard to guess they housed various large-scale military machines.
To the west of the Armory—on the left side after they leapt over the gate—was a row of houses.
Likely the living quarters for the Armory’s Demon-Suppressing Guards.
Wang Xing’an casually grabbed an iron rod and struck the bronze bell in the plaza’s center.
DANG DANG DANG!
The sharp bell echoed through the Armory.
Wang Xing’an bellowed, “Get out here! The Armory’s got two new suckers—uh, no, I mean new Demon-Suppressing Guards!”
From the previously silent row of houses came a bit of movement.
After a while, a few guards shuffled out lazily.
Most of them looked half-asleep, one of them shirtless.
“Clap your hands!” Wang Xing’an shouted.
Clap clap clap…
Scattered applause followed.
“Alright, go back to sleep,” Wang Xing’an nodded with satisfaction.
The guards immediately went back inside.
Wang Xing’an laughed. “Welcome ceremony complete! From now on, you two are officially members of the Armory.”
“So? Excited?”
Shen Mo and Li Heitan exchanged glances.
Li Heitan hesitantly raised a hand. “Commander Wang… can I go back?”
Wang Xing’an’s gaze suddenly sharpened. “Go back? Anyone who dares leave the Armory is considered a deserter!”
“You still want to go back?!”
Li Heitan shrank his neck in fear, shaking his head like a rattle drum.
Wang Xing’an’s face lit up again, instantly returning to that kindly expression.
“There’s an empty house over there. You two can stay there. If there’s one thing the Armory’s got plenty of, it’s empty rooms. No need to worry about finding a place to live.”
“Unlike the other camps—over there, they're still living in tents.”
Wang Xing’an waved his hand generously as he spoke.
Shen Mo cupped his fists. “Commander Wang, may I ask what we’re supposed to do on a daily basis?”
Wang Xing’an grinned. “Good question!”
He raised his plump finger and pointed toward a wall in the distance.
On it were rows of large, crooked characters.
“Look there—that’s the Armory Handbook written by yours truly. It includes everything about your daily duties.”
“Besides that, it also covers what you can and can’t do, where you can and can’t go—it’s all up there.”
At this point, Wang Xing’an waved his hand again. “Alright, that’s enough guidance for newcomers. Starting tomorrow, you’re veterans of the Armory.”
“This commander has work to do—don’t bother me if nothing’s wrong, and don’t bother me even if something is.”
With that, he vanished from their sight like a surprisingly nimble ball of flesh.
Shen Mo smacked his lips.
Commander Wang Xing’an… what a character.
“Come on, let’s go take a look at the Armory Handbook.”
Shen Mo led Li Heitan toward the wall with long strides.
Written there, in handwriting that looked like chicken scratches, were twenty-six rules.
Shen Mo read through them from start to finish and nodded slightly.
The rules weren’t particularly strict.
The daily duties of the Armory were simple.
First, clearing dust from the machinery.
Second, repairing damaged equipment.
If battle was approaching, they had to inspect whether the armaments were ready for deployment.
After battle, they were responsible for retrieving the weapons and hauling them back to the Armory.
Of course, most of the military gear in the Armory was already aged and broken.
The only equipment still deployed were wave-cleaving battle platforms and the more advanced tide-cutting battle platforms.
As long as the Demon-Suppressing Guards of the Armory completed their assigned duties each day, they were free to do whatever they wanted. Commander Wang wouldn’t interfere no matter where they went.
Shen Mo didn’t mind any of that.
As long as he wasn’t restricted in movement, it was fine.
If he couldn’t even leave the Armory, how was he supposed to intercept his fated opportunities?
The reason he chose the Armory in the first place came down to two things.
First, the Armory used to be a highly prized post.
This was because if a piece of military equipment was crafted by a Demon-Suppressing Guard and then used to kill enemies or break formations in battle, the Heavenly Dao would allocate the majority of the resulting merit to the maker.
Repairers would also receive some war merit—but much less.
Those who merely cleaned the machines earned the least.
On the battlefield, killing five lesser demon commanders would get you one Tier-D war merit.
But in the Armory, you’d have to clean dust off ten pieces of equipment just to get that same Tier-D war merit!
The second reason, however, was the most important.
Shen Mo had already seen a recent opportunity connected to Lin Dongtian—one specifically tied to the Armory.
He had taken note of it long ago.
So when Zhang Longxiang asked which logistics branch he wanted to join, he had immediately chosen the Armory.
If he could obtain that opportunity—
He wouldn’t just be able to repair old machines. He’d be able to craft new ones using long-lost techniques.
At that point, he wouldn’t need to fight on the battlefield at all. War merit would flow to him endlessly!
It would truly be a case of earning war merit while lying down.
