Chapter 154: Chapter 154

- HAZEL -

Wearing this jacket really paid off. It managed to hide the bandaged sore on my shoulders from Killian. I can only assume Asami is watching me so I have to be careful despite Killian and I being somewhere in the outskirts of the city.

I am tempted to submit to the urge begging me to speak but for all I know, bugs could be all over me without my knowledge. After what Asami did to me on the rooftop, I wouldn’t put doing something this stupid yet bizarre past her.

She’s everything little girls are told to not become and stay away from in our childhood. The diabolic, scheming, dumbass, hungover, witchy ex who doesn’t reason till it’s too late.

How I long for her luck to run out without me having to lift a finger. That would only guarantee that my life will be preserved and her sorry ass will be locked up, away from me but till then, I have so many people to live for and to keep my mouth shut for. I let out an exhale.

To think I’m just nineteen. This experience is too burdensome for a nineteen year old but if I let myself dwell on this for so long, it’ll get to me harder that it already has and I refuse to give her what she probably wants and let myself get lost in depression.

At least I don’t get to see her every day. That alone is good for me.

I tap my fingers on my thighs, taking my time to admire the exquisitely gorgeous restaurant and our table for two. Killian is living the life! He happens to know every single food haven and heaven around the national globe, I’m jealous.

Although what do I expect from a wealthy businessman? Nothing less.

I chuckle, stamping my feet on the ground while awaiting his arrival. He knows how the system in this place works so I was left to tether for myself while he gets our orders done.

I wonder what special thing he has planned for him to need to be there himself instead of order. I don’t care what it is as long as it feeds my starving stomach. Yes, I’ve stayed malnourished for quite a while that even after having the minutest taste of splendidly cooked food, I’m craving more. My finger rests my tummy, rubbing it subtly before squeezing slightly. My poor belly has been starved for way too long.

Well not anymore. I couldn’t help myself a few days ago nor could I establish my appetite but Killian himself is an appetite booster. Everything about him screams to be devoured by the tongue and boy would I be lying if I say my mouth doesn’t want to taste him.

Yet I can’t. I can not not get naked in front of him if we proceed to indulge in sexual activity and he will immediately see my shoulder. A sigh leaves my lips. That is enough thinking for one day.

“Excuse me, ma’am but your eating reservation has been upgraded and we’d like to take you to your table.” A male waiter dressed in the typical waiting suit attire says to me. I didn’t even know when he approached me.

“Um,” I start, peering my head past him while searching the room. “Does my escort know about this? I came with someone.” I say, uneasily. Of course no one other than him is capable of switching our reservation but I want to be sure he wouldn’t go looking for me if I indeed change my seating arrangement. I also don’t want this to be some kind of mistake on their part. Wrong upgrades is a thing apparently. “I would like to keep him informed before moving.”

“He’s well aware, rest assured. And even if it does slip his mind, I’ll be sure to lead him to you.” That sounds convincing.

I bite my lower lip in thought, feeling nervous about this. I finally smile and proceed to stand. “Okay, take me there.” I say. No matter my second thoughts, it’s not the poor waiter’s fault, the man is just doing his job.

I follow behind him as he leads me to a more private section in the restaurant. Even I can tell from afar that this is the main game. This part is VVIP.

“Please be seated and make yourself comfortable, if you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me.” I drop my purse first on the seat before sitting.

The waiter waits for me to get comfortable on my seat. It’s a cushion table for four. Certainly more comfortable too and with how high these seats are, each table is divided to give whoever eats here good enough privacy.

Now this is the kind of shit I like.

“I will, thank you.”

He returns a pleasant smile then walks away. It is only when his back is to me that I remember that I forgot to read the name of his name tag that was on his shirt and I forgot to ask him for it as well. Oh well, I shrug, I guess I’ll just have to meet someone else if I need something or wait for Killian. The second option seems better.

I sit upright. But where the heck is Killian? He’s been gone for quite a while and the hunger is certainly starting to get to me. I grab my purse, open it then dip my hand in to take my phone.

If my man ain’t here, then I’m going to call him to come to me. My phone unlocks after scanning my face and I head to my contacts. Killian’s number is the first one to appear on my screen under ‘recents’. I proceed to tap it when a voice makes me freeze.

“We meet again. Coincidence? I guess not.” The sultry, venomous, husky purr I’ve come to know resounds in my ears from behind me, causing me to turn back to look.

My heart drops. I didn’t imagine the voice and this is not a bad thought either. Standing right behind me is the one person I had hoped not to come across at all and she’s making herself comfortable on the opposite side.

“Asami. . .” I breathe, dropping my phone. What are you doing here?! Is the right question to ask but even I don’t think I have that luxury. A lump forms in my throat.

“Shocked to see me? I could not leave my dearest friend alone with her man now, could I? It’ll simply tag me as insensitive and believe it or not but I care about my stupid play things.” Her voice started off as dramatic and concerned before shifting back into her usual tone. She holds her hand up, signalling for someone. The moment a waiter approaches our table, she orders some wine.

I just stare at her. My body is too scared to move. How is she here? Did she really follow me? Can’t I take a break from her? From all this?

Where is Killian? My life feels threatened already.

“Want something, honey?” These words break my reverie.

I shake my head. “I’m fine.@ I murmur under my breath.

Asami’s eyes eye me from head till her eyes can see before averting her gaze. “For just me then. Bringing the bottle will be nice.” I watch as the waiter takes her order, before leaving.

I don’t dare look at her. I’m just hoping for Killian to arrive quickly and save me from having to be alone further with her.

“There you are, I’ve been looking for you.” Another familiar voice calls. Standing in front of me, by Asami’s side is the man I met at Killian’s place, called by the name; Owen.

These two are acquainted? Could my day get any worse?

“Oh, we meet again. A pleasure to meet you.” This time, I feel my throat all the way up my neck. I feel like I’m choking on me on the inside.

I manage to form a smile. “Have you seen Killian?” Despite trying to hide the quivering in my tongue, i couldn’t help it.

“Ah, him. Yes. I took care of him on my way here.” Owen has this smile on his face that leaves me uncomfortable. What does he mean by ‘took care of him’? And why do I feel more nervous than I usually am staying in the same space as these two? Something about them being together spells dangerous in more languages than one.
