SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 254
- LIAM -
I find it fascinating that out of everyone in the universe, and everyone in our extended family, dear old uncle has chosen to spy on my brother and I, the very people he dejected when our parents kicked the bucket.
The sudden interest he has with me and my brother is more infuriating than knowing he’s still alive. I let out a sigh.
I find it even more hilarious that whoever this spy is willingly accepted the quest. It’s stupid. How much can someone really be offered to risk their lives watching my brother and I? It must be worth taking care of the person’s generation because that person’s life ends here today. Whether it’s in public or not.
I switch out my knives with shuriken blades, simultaneously playing with both items and managing to keep them hidden with each swap, between my sleeve. My gaze reaches for the sky and I let out a sigh. If indeed this person is following my brother and I, then I just have to study my environment long enough to notice suspicious behaviour. And I know just where to be. Just in case my assumption is wrong and Hazel is the spy’s target.
My lips are aligned in a line, not a frown, but not a smile, just a line that expresses that I’m at ease. I derive no joy making stoic facial expressions, it does not fit my hoe-ing personality.
My lips immediately form into a grin as I find the little angel I’m looking for. More like a little mouse. To me, Hazel is that pure, white, new born mouse with pinkish nose unaware of the wicked world before her. One who leaps and wants to be among without knowing how not being part of it saves her soul.
“Darling, hello!” I call, waving my hand in the air. Hazel hasn’t sighted me yet. Maybe she didn’t hear me. “Hazel, honey.” I call again, my voice louder this time.
I notice her turn, jerking her head over her shoulder. She’s with Kate. If I wasn’t worse, I would say Killian is no better than me. Imagine playing with the hearts of two innocent ladies.
My eyes darken. Well, in reality, it’s one. Kate is far from innocent. In fact, it’s her lack of innocence that got her entangled with my brother in the first place. If only she hadn’t poked her nose where it shouldn’t be, she wouldn’t have been entangled in something that might’ve killed her and now, the girl has caught feelings.
I almost feel sad for her. Almost. While I hold no particular grudge for her, I don’t enjoy it when someone’s foolishness leaves my only blood involved in a situation that he wouldn’t have spared his attention to in the first place. One that doesn’t benefit him nor I in any way. But out of respect for Killian and my understanding of the stupidity of young people, I chose to accept whatever bond they share.
After all, I know what it’s like to be stuck in a dark, abysmal loop yearning for someone to pull you out of it. I also know how relieving it is when someone actually does aid with everything they can offer. Natalie was my saving grace, so I guess Killian can be her saviour too.
Kate leaves, giving me the pleasure of having my alone time with Hazel. I let my eyes linger in my environment. So far, everything around me seems normal. I scan further, ensuring my patrolling gaze is subtle enough to not give the stalker an idea that I’m trying to find him.
Someone catches my attention. Far up on one of the balconies of the sky scrapers. That may be our guy. I just need to watch closely. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
“I want to invite you to something.” I say cheerfully, nesting an envelope housing a card between two fingers, my divided attention on Hazel. My eyes dwindle back to the spot I found the intruder.
Yup. He is definitely our guy. I turn around, checking if he’d make a move or hide, but he didn’t. He doesn’t know he’s been spotted yet.
Dear old uncle couldn’t find a spy with brains? I’m a bit insulted, at least a little more effort would’ve been better.
“Please be sure to attend.” I say, returning my attention to the angel before me. Her brows furrow at my statement. I hold myself from chuckling. If there was ever a chance I’d abduct her, it surely won’t be over an invitation. It’ll be professional, not amateurishly stupid.
Although, she’s never going to be on the list of women I fancy and consider worthy enough to bear the thought of abduction. And I’m sure it’s obvious why.
She finally takes it from me, reaching her hand forward in the air. I let the envelope loose in my fingers once her fingers gets a hold on it. “Should I be worried?” She asks, her breath masking confusion.
I take another step, circling her. That stalker could not be any more obvious. I’d give him a minus nine rating.
“Not really.” I say to Hazel, calmly. The last thing I want is to hint that my attention is somewhere else. And on someone possibly deadly. As much as I hate that she’s in the dark about who we actually are, I’d love her to be idle for a little while longer. Out of love, of course. “I just want you to be there. Kate will be too, so it’ll aid our whole charade.” I lean closer to her, keeping my face directly in front of hers. Her nose flares and I notice her cheeks redden.
She’s nervous. It’s so adorable. Pretty things always are adorable when anxious. My brows furrow for a second as I notice something unexpected. “Stay still.” I say, my voice slightly firm. Hazel’s body froze. Like a complete surrender induced by fear. I let my body rest on hers, dropping my weight slightly over her shoulder as I pull her in for a hug.
This is when I pull a blade out. My knife. It catches on a reflection, one sharp enough to give me the outline of the face of the spy. My jaw tightens at the fuzzy sight.
I was wrong this whole time. Our guy is actually a woman. A woman I detest with everything in me.
I hide my blade back into my sleeve, sinking my head into her hair which falls down her neck, pretending to inhale. A smile immediately forms on my face as I pull back. “Sorry for the awkwardness, someone you knew passed by.” I whisper. That wasn’t a lie. Her stalker is someone she knows.
I have so many questions and that woman will answer it all by the time I am done with her.
Hazel smiles in return, her facial expression imprinting gratitude.
“Ensure to be there.” I wink, taking her hand in mine for a gentle kiss. I notice her eyes flutter at that gesture. Okay, I like her. I like that she’s so innocent and I like her for my brother.
She is someone who I will be willing to protect.
“You will get a gift from me.” I bow, the typical gentleman courtesy. “Please, put it on for the occasion.” My eyes are on her as I advance backwards.
Now, to say hello to my most hated killer.
