Chapter 31: Chapter THIRTY ONE

- KILLIAN -

I have a meeting with S. Of course not a physical meeting but virtual, as usual.

None of our faces will be shown during the meeting. It’ll just be a blank screen where we both interact on my laptop. For personal reasons I don’t use the laptop I use to do his deeds for anything else.

S is too funny to actually be trusted. After the meeting today, I need to head back home to meet that rascal of a brother. A grin formed on my face as I adjusted my tie while standing in front of the mirror fully dressed in my white shirt, black suit pants with a black belt around my waist, black socks which are hidden in my shoes, cufflinks and my watch. My suit jacket is laying elegantly on my bed. I’m not getting dressed for the online meeting, I doubt that will be held today, I’m dressing up to leave the house to home.

Just think about that rascal of a brother makes a half grin form on my face. I can’t deny that I’ve missed his annoying ass. I miss his company. My life has been quite bland apart from the teenage drama keeping me entertained and boring women like Lorelei.

I walk to my bed and picked up my suit which is in the hanger. I took the suit off the hanger and threw the hanger carefully on my bed then walked back to my mirror in my closet. I fitted my hand in it first, before wearing it fully.

That’s when I added the final touch with my perfume.

If there’s one thing I want to do before I resume with my boring activities, it’s to have a little bit of fun and my brother can deliver that in a couple of minutes quite well. That’s why I love him, as much as I’d love to deny that. Getting my head off S’ file and the woman who killed my parents, along with university activities and God help me, Kate, and normal people will keep me from running mad.

I almost want to feel a heart pumping feebly in my hand. I miss torturing degenerates. I crave the fear that comes with people aware of who I am calling my name. I took a deep breath then exhaled.

There’s just something fabulous about miserable people begging for their lives. Quivering at my sight. Even the women I bedded, they know not to cross me.

I made my way to my desk where my laptop is on and clicked on the link. It’s loading. S should be here any minute. Or not. I’m crossing my fingers on the latter being the case.

I heard an electronic ding. This just shattered all hope of me getting out of here early.

"Good day, S." I said, not taking a seat.

"Why hello Killian, excited to hear from me?" A woman’s voice trailed from the other end. I didn’t respond. "Well, even if you’re not, I am." Asami added with a giggle.

I groaned, not because I’m stressed but because I’m relieved. "It’s good we’re on the same page about the feeling being one sided." I said, packing every other thing I think I need during the drive.

"Always hard on me. How do I explain it that it makes me want to press more?" She asks. Her tone is flirtatious. Need I remind her that I’m engaged or she is already aware and has chosen to ignore it.

"Don’t you have homework or more important things to do? Joblessness can be quite a hassle for middle aged women these days." I said casually.

By the short silence that arose after, I knew she didn’t take that well. That made me chuckle under my breath.

"I’m not middle aged. And I’m not the ’professor’ here."

Is that the best she’s got?

"Well you sure look it. Or maybe you look older due to the long span of time, who knows?" It’s not my intention to purposely tick her mood off but until she gets the message and stops bothering me, I’ll treat her like a lady. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Maybe.

"Haha, joke all you want over a virtual meet. It won’t be all roses as glitter when we meet."

When? That’s something I’d love to avoid.

"I don’t expect it to be." After a careful run-through of everything, I know I’m set to leave. My chauffeur has been waiting for me for a few minutes now. "If there’s nothing to pass on to me, I guess this is goodbye." I added.

Asami is one of those clingy women who don’t get the gist or choose not to and keep pestering. It is annoying.

At some point it wasn’t. In fact, I craved it. Not my best few years but it is what it is.

"Will it kill you to be nice to me for just one minute?"

"I am conversing decently, am I not?" So far, no harsh words have been thrown and I think this is the most chill conversation we will have in a long time. Asami was quiet. "I thought so." I said. "Don’t misuse your privilege and ring me again. Pass my regards to S."

A sultry giggle slid in my ears. "Enjoy your trip."

This just confirmed one thing, S broke the deal and I’m being watched. Typical beta move.

"Thanks for the tip Asami. I owe you one. Bye." I waited for her to respond for a few seconds before disconnecting from the meet. That was the most decent thing to do, after all she did let me in on a secret. Now I don’t know if that was done on purpose or if Asami has other plans.

Whichever it is, I would rather not get involved. Everyone knows what happens to those under S’ domain who try to act smart. Personally, I don’t feel inferior to him in anyway. There is a certain level one reaches in their line of work that makes even those other deem as their superior bow to them. The only thing I have that S doesn’t is an identity. That just proves how cowardly he and his inner circle is.

There was no way in hell I ignored that intentional slip up when he stated ’we’ during our first conversation since I arrived in this house. I walk out of my room and down the corridor.

Personally, S has done nothing to wrong me and there are no actual disagreement between our forces aside from him breeching our deal. I’ll send the organs of the agents he sent to spy on my to him as a return present. There would be no harm after all because it’s business.

Plus, it would mean there are less people who saw Hazel here. I need to find them all and kill them with the hope that nothing has piqued his interest in he yet.

Something Kate said really got to me. She has my protection and Hazel doesn’t. It’s high time I rectified that, especially when I got her involved, barely, in the first place but I can’t be too careless.

I stepped out of the house and strolled to my car. I was greeted by the chauffeur. He pulled the door open for me. In fact no, I want to drive.

"Hand over the keys." I said to him and he obeyed instantly. I walked to the driver’s seat and pulled the door open.

I’ll rectify this situation today once I arrive home. I’m sure my brother will be more than pleased to hear about a woman other than my fiancée.

The engine started and I waited for a bit, giving my car time to warm up.

In fact, he won’t let it go till the day he dies. One of his many annoying traits.
