Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 386 - 399: Impatient Xingyu
Cold?
Su Xingyu paused for a moment, reaching out to touch Jue’s hand. Jue’s hand was cold from playing in the snow, but even colder was Han, who had been rolling around outside in the snow and was now being tightly held by him.
Could it be... Jue was trying to warm Han’s face?
Su Xingyu thought her idea was a bit absurd, but she couldn’t think of a better explanation.
Looking at Jue’s stiff and serious little face, diligently warming Han, her heart ached with an indescribable feeling. Clearly, he was the one who needed more care...
She remembered Jue’s illness and looked at his face. As expected, his lips were purple from the cold, and his already unhealthy little face looked very pale.
Su Xingyu was startled, quickly pulling Jue’s hand away from Han’s face. The child was suddenly startled, and began to shout angrily.
"Jue, be good, don’t do this." Su Xingyu hurriedly tried to calm the child.
But Jue wouldn’t listen at all, shouting more frantically, and his feet kicked and stomped in the snow water on the ground, splashing partially melted snow everywhere.
Worried he might get wet, Su Xingyu’s hands became even more frantic trying to stop him, half-holding and half-dragging him into her arms.
"Su Xingyu, what are you doing? Let go of my son!" Suddenly, she heard a sharp female voice shout.
Before she could react, she felt someone forcefully tug her arm, instinctively loosening her hold on Jue.
Looking up, she saw Zhuang Heng standing fiercely in front of her, snatching Jue into her arms and glaring at her with extreme anger: "Su Xingyu, you’re so vicious! Hitting a child! Fortunately, I came over in time, listen to how the child is crying! Do you even have any humanity, bullying my child like that?!"
"I didn’t." She retorted, then turned her head to see Lu Shifeng standing behind Zhuang Heng.
Lu Shifeng was wearing a crisp suit, clearly just returning from business without even changing, with specks of snow on his shoulders.
He looked at the scene in front of him with a stern expression. Today, Zhuang Heng insisted on coming to see the child with him. As soon as they went upstairs, they heard Jue’s hysterical screams and hurried inside, only to see this scene. What had happened? He had no time to think and needed first to calm Jue down.
Yet, Zhuang Heng clearly couldn’t calm Jue. The tighter she held him, the more violently he resisted.
"Jue." He stepped forward quickly, joining Zhuang Heng to soothe the child, but the child was kicking and hitting them, immersed in a state of agitation. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Jue..." Han was frightened by the sudden commotion, softly calling him with a sob.
But his voice was too small, and none of the adults dealing with the situation noticed.
"Jue, be good, calm down." Lu Shifeng’s voice was in vain.
"Jue, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you listening again? Are you trying to worry me to death?" Zhuang Heng’s affected voice fluctuated.
Su Xingyu was anxious too, but didn’t dare to step forward, instead telling the two adults, "Step back a little, let Jue breathe. His heart can’t take so much screaming!" She genuinely feared that with too many people crowding around, poor air circulation might suffocate Jue, who was already unwell.
But Zhuang Heng wouldn’t budge, sharply scolding Su Xingyu: "The child was fine when he was with me, and now you? You’re a heartless woman!"
Su Xingyu’s face darkened, but she didn’t want to argue now.
Lu Shifeng, who was also surrounding Jue, stepped back, even though he was anxious to quiet Jue. He understood Su Xingyu was right; crowding around was detrimental to Jue’s health. He stepped back a few paces, asking Su Xingyu, "What’s wrong with the child?"
Su Xingyu said, "Playing with Han, I tugged him a bit, and then..."
"I knew you harbored ill intentions towards my son! He’s not in good health, and you still tugged him!" Zhuang Heng once again sharply scolded Su Xingyu, "Su Xingyu, you’re inhumane!"
"Enough." Before Su Xingyu could speak, Lu Shifeng had already stopped Zhuang Heng, his voice cold and stern, "Is this the time to assign blame? First, take care of Jue!"
Zhuang Heng was startled, afraid to yell indiscriminately again.
The Jue in her arms struggled more fiercely, beyond her control, turning pitifully to Lu Shifeng for help, "Shifeng, help me..."
Lu Shifeng was also at a loss with the child. As usual, he took out a half-drawn particle diagram, kneeling to put it in Jue’s hands, "Jue, shall we draw?"
Jue furiously tore the paper to pieces, throwing it away.
This rare occurrence made even Lu Shifeng pause, as on any other day, Jue’s obsession with drawing would have already quieted him.
"What on earth did you do to my son?!" Zhuang Heng couldn’t help but scold Su Xingyu, her eyes red as she said to Lu Shifeng, "Our son is so pitiful..."
Lu Shifeng frowned, impatient with Zhuang Heng’s untimely outburst and deeply concerned for Jue.
"Jue..." At that moment, a small voice sounded from the corner of the room.
This time, the adults noticed and turned to see Han.
The little guy toddled forward a few steps, as if making a major decision, stood in front of Jue, took his hands, and placed them on his own face. He used Jue’s hands to cover his own soft little face, which was deformed by the pressure, yet he smiled at Jue with mumbled words, "Jue, don’t be mad, play with my face, just this once, don’t play with it again."
Lu Shifeng and Zhuang Heng didn’t understand what he meant.
The child’s words were disjointed.
But under Han’s actions, Jue miraculously quieted down, his little hands firmly on Han’s face, staring straight at him.
Lu Shifeng and Zhuang Heng were baffled.
Lu Shifeng turned slightly, giving Su Xingyu a glance.
Yet now Jue was no longer upset, but Su Xingyu was clearly angry, ignoring him with a cold face.
Zhuang Heng, having caught her breath, spoke again with a strange tone, "Shifeng, clearly, Su Xingyu is abusing my son. I’m not comfortable with Jue being raised around her."
Su Xingyu remained composed, sidestepping them to walk out, while Lu Shifeng called out, "Xingyu."
"Step aside, don’t block the way." Su Xingyu gave him an impatient look, and Lu Shifeng instinctively moved aside.
In a few steps, Su Xingyu left Jue’s room, returning with a blanket and a hot water bottle.
