Shadow Husband:I Have a Hidden SSS-Class System-Chapter 36: THE MORNING AFTER
Rama woke at dawn to find Sekar hadn’t slept at all.
She sat at the dining table, surrounded by holographic displays showing news feeds, Hunter Association reports, and tactical projections. Her tablet stylus moved frantically, making notes, calculations, plans.
"Three years," she said without looking up. "That’s one thousand and ninety-five days. Twenty-six thousand, two hundred and eighty hours. To prepare for an extinction-level threat we barely understand."
"You’ve been up all night."
"I sent messages to every S-Rank in Southeast Asia at 3 AM. Called emergency meetings with the Jakarta Hunter Association at 4 AM. Started drafting contingency plans at 5 AM." She finally looked at him, exhaustion evident. "We need infrastructure. Training programs. Resource allocation. International coordination. And we need it yesterday."
Rama sat beside her, taking in the scope of what she’d already begun organizing. "Sekar—"
"Don’t tell me to rest. I can’t rest. Not when—" Her voice cracked slightly. "Not when I know what’s coming. Not when I know you’ll be at the front of it."
He took her hand. "We’ll face it together. Like everything else."
"You’re System Champion now. The first. That makes you a target for everything—Void Lords when they arrive, governments who’ll want to control you, Players who’ll challenge your authority." She squeezed his hand hard. "I’m terrified. And I’m furious that I can’t protect you from this."
"You already are protecting me. By being here. By planning. By using your skills to help prepare." He gestured at her work. "This is how we survive. Not just my power. Everyone’s capabilities combined."
A notification chimed. Sekar’s secure line—Director Hartono.
She answered via hologram. His expression was grave.
"Guild Master Aditya. Mr. Kusuma. My office. Immediately. This is not a request."
The call ended.
"He knows," Sekar said. "The System announcement went to all Players worldwide. If any association members are Players, they’ve seen it. They know about the Void Lords now."
"Then it’s time to stop hiding."
JAKARTA HUNTER ASSOCIATION HEADQUARTERS - 8:47 AM
Director Hartono’s office was packed.
Not just Hartono. Five other association directors. Three S-Rank Hunters. Two government officials. All looking at Rama with expressions ranging from shock to fear to calculation.
"Sit," Hartono said.
Rama and Sekar sat. The room’s tension was suffocating.
"Twenty-three hours ago," Hartono began, "every Hunter monitoring system worldwide detected a simultaneous anomaly. A System announcement that appeared to three hundred and forty-seven individuals across the globe. One of those individuals is my senior analyst. She showed me the message."
He pulled up a holographic display.
[A CHAMPION HAS BEEN DESIGNATED]
[THE VOID APPROACHES]
"Mr. Kusuma, are you this ’System Champion’?"
No point lying. "Yes."
The room erupted in whispers.
"And these Void Lords?" one of the government officials asked. "This extinction threat?"
"Real. Arriving in three years. The gates aren’t random—they’re advance scouts for an invasion."
"How do you know this?"
"The System told me. When I completed my quest and reached Level 50, the truth was revealed."
"The System," another director repeated. "This mysterious power that gives individuals exponential growth. And now it’s making proclamations about the end of the world."
"It’s not a proclamation. It’s a warning."
"Or," the government official said carefully, "it’s a manipulation. A convenient story to justify why certain individuals should have unchecked power."
"You think I’m lying?" Rama’s voice was calm but hard.
"I think people with power often create narratives to justify keeping that power."
"Then verify it. Send teams to study gate manifestation patterns. Check if they’re increasing in frequency and intensity. Analyze the dimensional energy signatures." Rama leaned forward. "The System gave me information. But the evidence exists independently. Look for it."
Hartono made notes. "We’ll investigate. But Mr. Kusuma, understand the position you’ve put us in. You’re claiming to be the leader of a secret organization of superpowered individuals, warning us about an alien invasion, and expecting us to simply accept this."
"I’m not expecting you to accept anything. I’m giving you information. What you do with it is your choice."
"And if we choose to detain you? Study you? Understand how this System works?"
Sekar’s aura flared. "Try it."
"Guild Master—"
"He’s my husband. And more importantly, he’s apparently humanity’s best chance at survival. So no, you’re not detaining him. You’re going to work with him. Or I walk out of this association permanently and take every S-Rank who values survival over bureaucracy with me."
The threat was nuclear. S-Ranks leaving the association would cripple the global Hunter infrastructure.
Hartono studied them both. "You’re serious."
"Completely."
"Then we have a problem. Because my superiors want him in custody. And if I refuse, they’ll send people who won’t negotiate."
"Let them try," Sekar said coldly.
"Guild Master, think about what you’re saying—"
"I am thinking. I’m thinking that in three years, those same superiors will be begging for people with System power to save them. I’m thinking that alienating our strongest allies before the war even starts is monumentally stupid. And I’m thinking—" She stood. "—that we’re done here."
"Wait." One of the S-Ranks spoke—a woman in her forties named Ratih. "If this Void Lord threat is real, we need to prepare. That means cooperation, not conflict. Director Hartono, may I suggest a compromise?"
"I’m listening."
"Mr. Kusuma remains free but agrees to regular consultations. He shares information about the System, teaches us what he knows, helps prepare the association for what’s coming. In exchange, we don’t treat him as a threat but as an asset."
It was reasonable. Diplomatic.
Hartono considered. "Mr. Kusuma?"
"Acceptable. But I need the same from you—full access to association resources, gate research, dimensional studies. And protection for other Players. No hunting them down, no forcing compliance."
"That’s asking a lot."
"So is preparing for an extinction event."
Another long silence.
"Agreed," Hartono said finally. "Conditional cooperation. We’ll draft formal terms. But Mr. Kusuma, if this is a deception—if the Void Lords don’t exist—you’ll face consequences."
"They exist. And in three years, you’ll wish we’d prepared more."
Outside the association building, Sekar exhaled slowly.
"That went better than expected," she said.
"You threatened to collapse the global Hunter infrastructure."
"And I meant it. They need to understand—you’re not their prisoner. You’re their ally. There’s a difference."
Rama’s phone buzzed. Player Network emergency meeting. One hour.
"The Network wants answers too," he said.
"Then we give them answers. Together." She took his hand. "That’s how this works now. Champion and Guild Master. Whatever comes."
"Whatever comes."
PLAYER NETWORK GATHERING POINT - 11:00 AM
Every Player in Jakarta had shown up. Twenty-three faces looking at Rama with expressions he’d never seen before—awe, fear, hope, suspicion.
Ratna stood at the front. "System Champion. The announcement said you completed a Trial of Worthiness. Explain."
Rama told them everything. The hidden quest. The thirty-day deadline. The survival theme. Fighting the Architect. The reward. The System’s revelation about the Void Lords.
He held nothing back.
When he finished, silence filled the room.
Finally, Yanto spoke. "Three years. That’s... not much time."
"No. It’s not."
"And you’re supposed to lead us? Prepare humanity? You’re Level 50. You’ve been a Player for thirty-one days." Yanto’s tone wasn’t hostile. Just honest. "How?"
"I don’t know. But the System chose me. Said I demonstrated the qualities needed. Perseverance. Adaptation. Courage." Rama looked at each of them. "I’m not claiming to have all the answers. I’m saying I have information we need. And I’m willing to share it. To work with anyone who wants to survive."
"The association will try to control you," Ratna said. "Governments will want to weaponize Players. It’s going to get complicated."
"It already is. But Sekar negotiated cooperation. For now, we’re allies. Not prisoners."
"And when that changes?"
"We adapt. Like always."
Budi stepped forward. "I’ll support you. You’ve proven yourself. Fought impossible battles and survived. That’s enough for me."
Sari nodded. "Agreed. You’re not perfect. But you’re honest. That counts."
One by one, others affirmed support. Not unanimous—some remained skeptical. But enough to form a core group.
"Then we start preparing," Rama said. "The Trial of Worthiness is now available to all Players. Whoever completes it becomes a champion. We need more. The System said target is one thousand champions before invasion. We have three hundred forty-seven Players total. We need to accelerate growth and recruitment."
"How?" Dewi asked.
"By being visible. The association wants cooperation? We cooperate. We train their Hunters. Share knowledge. Create joint operations. Show them that Players aren’t threats—we’re allies."
"That’s a massive strategic shift," Ratna said. "We’ve been hiding for years."
"And that ends now. Because in three years, everyone will know anyway. Better we control the narrative."
It was ambitious. Risky. Unprecedented.
But looking at the faces around him, Rama saw acceptance. They understood—hiding time was over.
War time had begun.
ETERNAL BOND GUILD HEADQUARTERS - 3:27 PM
Sekar had called an emergency all-hands meeting. Every guild member, from S-Rank executives to E-Rank support staff.
Over three hundred Hunters packed the main hall.
She stood at the podium, Rama beside her, and addressed them.
"I’m going to tell you something classified. Something that will sound insane. But it’s true, verified by association directors and S-Rank Hunters globally."
She explained everything. Players. The System. The Void Lords. The three-year countdown.
And the fact that her husband was System Champion #001.
The hall erupted in chaos. Questions shouted, accusations thrown, panic spreading.
Sekar let it continue for exactly ninety seconds. Then her S-Rank aura pulsed once—a gentle reminder of who led this guild.
Silence fell.
"I understand your fear," she said. "I’m terrified too. But fear is useless without action. So here’s what Eternal Bond is going to do. We’re partnering with the Player Network. We’re creating joint training programs. We’re preparing for war."
"Why should we trust Players?" someone called out. "They’ve been hiding among us!"
"Because they’re our best weapon. And because my husband is one. I trust him with my life. You trust me to lead this guild. Trust my judgment now."
Rama stepped forward. "I won’t ask you to like me. Or trust me immediately. I’m asking you to look at evidence. Gates are increasing. Threats are escalating. Something is coming. And we either prepare together or die separately."
"Prove it," an A-Rank Hunter challenged. "Prove you’re what you claim."
Rama activated his new title.
[SYSTEM CHAMPION]
The aura was visible even to non-Players—a golden glow that emanated from him, spreading through the hall. Everyone within fifty meters felt the effect.
[LEADERSHIP AURA: +20% COMBAT EFFECTIVENESS]
A tangible buff. Measurable. Undeniable.
The challenger’s eyes widened. "I feel... stronger."
"That’s the champion aura. Permanent boost to anyone who fights beside me." Rama deactivated it. "This is what we’re working with. This is why the System matters. And this is why we need to stop fighting each other and start preparing for real enemies."
The hall absorbed this.
Slowly, acceptance spread. Not universal. But enough.
"Eternal Bond stands with the Champion," Sekar declared. "Anyone who disagrees is free to leave. No penalties. No judgment. But decide now."
Fifteen people left. Out of three hundred.
The rest stayed.
"Good," Sekar said. "Then tomorrow, we begin training. Players and Hunters together. Building something new. Welcome to the war effort."
PENTHOUSE - 11:34 PM
Rama and Sekar collapsed onto the couch, exhausted.
Three meetings. Hundreds of people. Countless questions. The entire day spent explaining, persuading, organizing.
"That’s day one," Sekar said. "One thousand and ninety-four to go."
"Think we can do this?"
"I have no idea. But we don’t have a choice." She leaned against him. "How are you handling all this? Champion. Leader. Humanity’s hope."
"Terrified. Overwhelmed. Completely out of my depth."
"Good. That means you’re sane." She kissed him. "But we’ll figure it out. Like everything else. Together."
His System interface chimed.
[TRUSTED COMPANION DESIGNATION AVAILABLE]
[YOU MAY DESIGNATE UP TO 5 INDIVIDUALS AS TRUSTED]
[TRUSTED COMPANIONS GAIN: LIMITED SYSTEM ACCESS, STAT VISIBILITY, QUEST SHARING]
[WARNING: DESIGNATION IS PERMANENT - CHOOSE CAREFULLY]
Rama looked at Sekar. "The System lets me give people limited access. Make them Trusted companions. You interested?"
"Is that even a question?"
He designated her.
[SEKAR ADITYA: TRUSTED COMPANION #1]
[GRANTING LIMITED SYSTEM ACCESS...]
[COMPLETE]
Sekar’s eyes widened as a new interface appeared in her vision—simple compared to Player Systems, but functional. She could see stats, share certain quests, access basic information.
"This is incredible," she said. "I can see your actual HP. Your real stats. No more guessing if you’re dying."
"That’s the idea. Makes coordination easier."
"Who are the other four slots?"
"Haven’t decided. Probably Yanto, Budi, Ratna. People I trust to lead when I can’t."
"Smart." She explored her new interface. "This changes everything. A non-Player with System access. We could designate key association members, military leaders—"
"That’s what I’m thinking. Bridge the gap between Players and everyone else."
They sat in comfortable silence, processing the magnitude of what had happened.
Yesterday, Rama had been a Player trying to complete a quest.
Today, he was System Champion, leading preparation for a war three years away.
"You know what’s funny?" Sekar said. "A month ago, I was worried about you dying in F-Rank dungeons. Now I’m worried about you fighting interdimensional entities."
"Progress?"
"Terrifying progress." She pulled him closer. "But I meant what I said. Whatever comes, we face it together."
"Together," he agreed.
Outside, Jakarta continued its evening routine—people working, living, unaware of what was coming.
But tomorrow, preparations would begin.
The Player Network and Hunter Association, working together.
Eternal Bond Guild, training for war.
And System Champion #001, learning to lead.
