Sharing Dreams with My Bestie's Cousin-Chapter 58 - a slap
Chapter 58: a slap
Chapter 58: a slap
Shang Jing’s speech stopped abruptly, as he suddenly realized that it was still too early to bring up matters that were not yet settled.
“Look at my mouth, Sister Weiyue, don’t mind me,” Shang Jing said with a hint of apology in his tone.
Xie Weiyue wore a smile on her face, showing no offense at all, and even looked at Shang Jing with the gentle eyes of an elder sister to a younger brother, “You used to joke like this all the time; I’m used to it.”
The implication was—
She hadn’t minded before, and she wouldn’t mind now.
Undoubtedly, Xie Weiyue’s words made Shang Jing’s fondness for her rise another level, and he even secretly said, “See, I have great taste; I’ve long decided that you’re going to be my sister-in-law.”
Xie Weiyue was amused by Shang Jing once again.
Her features were distinctly handsome, and when she smiled, her face lit up with exceptional brightness, reminding Shang Jing, “Just say these things in front of me, don’t say them in front of Hexing; he won’t be pleased if he hears them.”
Shang Jing nodded, indicating that he understood.
Although his elder brother and Sister Weiyue were publicly acknowledged as a couple, and even his grandfather believed his brother would eventually marry Sister Weiyue, his elder brother never seemed to make his stance clear.
However, in Shang Jing’s view, his elder brother had not mentioned settling down all these years because he had been focused on his career. Now that his elder brother had secured his position, marriage with Sister Weiyue should also be on the agenda.
“I’ll take care of the matter with Jinyi and give you a proper account,” Xie Weiyue said, turning her head to remind him, “Your friend is still waiting for you, go ahead, and don’t keep her waiting.”
Shang Jing glanced at Wen Zhi, then nodded, “I’ll leave first then, Sister Weiyue, let’s eat together when you’re free.”
Xie Weiyue nodded and watched Shang Jing leave.
At that moment, Xie Jinyi called out pitifully, “Shang Jing…”
Shang Jing paused and looked back at Xie Jinyi.
Xie Jinyi first checked Xie Weiyue’s expression, and seeing no sign of anger, she mustered the courage to apologize, “I’m sorry, I was too impulsive today.”
Shang Jing looked at Xie Jinyi with a complicated expression.
That was just Xie Jinyi’s nature; sometimes she’d be wild and reflect upon calming down. She could be particularly hateful, and yet, at times, pitifully endearing.
But they had already broken up, and Shang Jing had no intention of looking back or leaving any hope for Xie Jinyi, “I’ve always thought we should part on good terms, and from now on, I hope you’ll do better.”
Xie Jinyi pursed her lips, on the verge of tears, but not crying.
Shang Jing withdrew his gaze and walked away.

In the distance, Wen Zhi didn’t leave; she had been quietly standing there, listening to Shang Jing’s conversation with Xie Weiyue.
Wen Zhi had witnessed Shang Jing’s warm attitude and terms of address toward Xie Weiyue.
Not until Shang Jing walked towards her, his face alight with excitement, probably about to praise her, “Wen Zhi, I really didn’t expect you to invite Sister Weiyue, you… eh? Wen Zhi? Wait for me.”
Wen Zhi turned and left, not waiting for Shang Jing.
Shang Jing stared at Wen Zhi’s retreating back, puzzled for a few seconds, then hurried after her. His long legs and brisk pace brought him up to her side quickly, “Why are you walking so fast all of a sudden.”
Wen Zhi kept her face stiff and didn’t respond to him.
Shang Jing felt that Wen Zhi wasn’t in a good mood, reached out to touch her shoulder, only to have Wen Zhi twist away, and his hand found nothing but air.
“What’s wrong with you, Wen Zhi? Who upset you?” Shang Jing was utterly bemused.
At the elevator, Wen Zhi finally stopped and responded dismissively, “The hallway felt stuffy.”
“It is a bit stuffy, but it’ll be better downstairs.” Shang Jing was very grateful to Wen Zhi for today’s events, so his attitude was exceptionally good, “I’m also to blame, I talked too long with Sister Weiyue and didn’t consider that you were waiting.”
Wen Zhi kept her lips tightly sealed and ignored him.
“Thank you for today,” Shang Jing placed his hand on Wen Zhi’s shoulder again, “If it weren’t for you, this mess would have blown up, and my grandfather would definitely have teased me when I got back.”
Wen Zhi shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll accept your thanks, but please remove your hand. It’s not nice to be so touchy-feely.”
Choked with emotion, Shang Jing laughed after a moment and withdrew his hand. “Are you keeping your distance from me?”
Wen Zhi responded. “Mhm.”
“Actually, you don’t have to be like this. I didn’t even take my mother’s intentions seriously, so you shouldn’t dwell on it either. We can be friends.” If Shang Jing had initially looked down on Wen Zhi, by now, he was ready to apologize for his previous attitude.
The elevator descended to their floor and stopped as Wen Zhi turned to look at Shang Jing. “Friends?”
Shang Jing affirmed without any hint of insincerity. “Yes, we are friends.”
Wen Zhi smiled with a twinkle in her almond-shaped eyes behind her glasses. “Alright, if you say we’re friends, then if I ask you something, you’ll tell the truth to me, your friend, right?”
Shang Jing nodded without hesitation. “Of course. I’ll withhold nothing and reveal everything.”
Both of them entered the elevator together.
Meanwhile, Xie Weiyue took Xie Jinyi back to their guest room.
Xie Jinyi felt uneasy in front of her sister, knowing that admitting her faults first was always the right move.
After her spiel, Xie Weiyue, who was sitting in a chair, raised her head to look at her. “Every time you know it’s wrong, but you keep making the same mistakes. Jinyi, do you think that because I’ve never really punished you, I never will, leading you to become increasingly reckless?”
Xie Jinyi shook her head, her voice tinged with tears. “Sister, I was wrong.”
Xie Weiyue’s expression was cold. “After a peaceful breakup, you owed him nothing, and he owed you nothing. It’s been almost half a year; you should have moved on with your lives. But then one night, you started regretting and began to harass him in all sorts of ways. Xie Jinyi, have you lost your mind?”
Xie Jinyi whispered softly. “I just thought of the good times we had, and I regretted it.”
“I’m asking you, is there a pill for regret in this world?”
“There isn’t…” Xie Jinyi shook her head.
Xie Weiyue: “Without a pill for regret, do you think it’s right to harass Shang Jing in such an extreme way?”
Xie Jinyi bowed her head, remaining silent.
The atmosphere reached a freezing point.
Xie Weiyue, knowing she had scared her sister quite a bit, moderated her temper somewhat and softened her tone. “Two people forcibly tied together will not end well. I hope you understand that.”
After speaking, Xie Weiyue prepared to stand up.
At that moment, Xie Jinyi also raised her head and suddenly asked, “Sister, what about you and Mr. Shang?”
Xie Weiyue was stunned.
Xie Jinyi boldly questioned, “I at least had a relationship with Shang Jing, but you haven’t even dated Mr. Shang, and he hasn’t taken you seriously. Do you still want to marry him? Will there be a future for you two?”
‘Slap—’
Xie Weiyue slapped Xie Jinyi, fury flashing in her eyes. “That’s my business, and it’s not your place to ask.”
Xie Jinyi covered her face in silence as tears fell like broken beads, pitter-pattering downward.

Wen Zhi and Shang Jing went straight down to the hotel parking lot.
Paparazzi journalists were also staking out the area, but they had to leave empty-handed. The incident had been resolved, and they were unable to capture the images they wanted.
Getting into the car, Shang Jing was buckling the seatbelt when he asked, “Didn’t you say you had something to ask me? How come you haven’t asked all the way down here?”
Wen Zhi turned her head toward Shang Jing. “Can I have the Buddha Beads tonight?”
