Chapter 1001: Chapter 1001: Angry, Unhappy, and in Need of Comfort

Children are always endearing when they aren’t noisy or mischievous, especially if they’re good-looking.

Fu Xiaoyang is the type destined to be overly charming. Even at a young age, it’s clear he’ll grow up surrounded by girls vying for his attention.

Lu Ci lounged against the sofa, sipping his drink, with his gaze lazily following as Yangyang dashed into the restroom, then out again, racing up to Lin Yifan to get him to dance.

Lin Yifan refused, prompting Yangyang to turn his head and call on his aunt to back him up, clever as ever.

Lu Ci watched, and his gaze naturally settled on Su Yao.

Lawyer Yao was still pretty much the same; she was more familiar with booze than him, her sleeves rolled up, playing dice like a pro.

Lu Ci smiled bitterly at her childlike playfulness, wondering what their child would be like if they had one.

However, Su Yao seemed quite resistant to the idea of having children, leaving Lu Ci unsure how Fu Shihan managed to persuade her back in the day.

Young Master Fu had completely forgotten about past events, and it’s uncertain whether he can recall them.

Nowadays, Su Wanxin didn’t seem anxious about anything, leaving Lu Ci feeling like the emperor worried more than the eunuch.

...

At the end of the corridor, outside the restroom.

Fu Shihan leaned against the wall, lighting a cigarette, turning his head to look at the nearby emergency stairway.

This place seemed familiar to him, as if something significant happened here once that caught his attention.

When Su Wanxin came out after washing her hands, she found him still staring intently at the stairs. Upon hearing footsteps, he glanced at Su Wanxin, asking, "Have we been here before?"

Su Wanxin paused, looked at the spot he had been gazing at, then smiled and said, "This is your place, we came here a while ago, didn’t we?"

"You know that’s not what I meant," Fu Shihan frowned slightly. "You seem completely unconcerned about things I’ve forgotten."

If they both forgot, that would have been fine.

But now that one has remembered, leaving the other in the dark about past events feels quite unfair.

Su Wanxin’s indifference sometimes frustrated Fu Shihan; they had been together for so many years, having shared numerous experiences.

He remembers none of them now, yet she remains calm and composed. Why does she not care?

Learning she had forgotten him annoyed him for several days, despite knowing it was a normal repercussion after her suicide attempt.

But he couldn’t help it; he felt he was too important to be forgotten by her—anything but him.

Noticing the furrow in his brow, Su Wanxin was about to speak when she heard footsteps approaching from the opposite end of the hallway.

She turned her head for a quick glance, instinctively darting to the side, her move so swift that Fu Shihan didn’t even react.

She hid herself at the stairway entrance, pulling Fu Shihan to shield her in front.

His tall figure concealed her completely, allowing her to cautiously peek at the approaching person, while Fu Shihan lowered his gaze onto her, his eyes intense.

"Someone you know?" he asked in a husky voice.

"Yes." Su Wanxin nodded. "The director from that variety show we were on before, truly awful."

Constantly scheming to have her do this and that—if it weren’t for her cleverness, she would have been utterly bullied.

Fu Shihan listened to her and turned his gaze on the notorious man she described as truly awful.

The man met his eyes across the air and instantly recognized his identity, gasping audibly.

Seeing his reaction, Fu Shihan smirked devilishly and lowered his head to seal Su Wanxin’s lips with his own.
