Chapter 470: "10%..."

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth." -2 Timothy 3:1-7

{Demon District}

As SeiõrSnow continues to fall, the pair of magically gifted women MamMon DæMon and Persephone, walk across the Izanami controlled borders into the desolate city of Outer Sanpaku.

From a higher elevated view, an orange, sinking, setting sun hides behind the same topless skyscraper. Effortlessly sliced by L’Orient’s deflected SlashingSeiõrSpell the day before.

On the ground, not having used instant transportation on either her nor Persephone, MamMon observes as the frustrated ’niece’ writes story ideas in her notebook.

MaMmon DæMon: "That total concentration on that novel of yours is quite impressive to watch, if I do say so myself, Per Se Phōne. With all the unprecedented events that transpired today, I’m sure you had a multitude of inspiring opportunities to gather."

With an upset, small pout on her face, the blossoming author takes a quick side eye glance at her current protective escort, before returning to her documentation without a word.

Able to decipher the passive aggressive body language, the DæMon sighs and tries to defend herself over having just one shot knock out of Scylia.

MamMon DæMon: "I understand that red haired woman was your ally, but for the sake of my own sanity, please inform me on how you would have written the conclusion to that initiated scene of passion?"

Walking in the center of the road, Persephone answers while keeping stride with her Aunt, and continuing to write.

Persephone: "Ever since I woke up from that coma, you have been my tutor of Seiõr.

I may not have an understanding on how to accurately measure Seiõr power levels, but I’m well aware you are really strong. More than likely, you’re the strongest on Kami Island..."

Taking a moment to look away from her writing, Persephone stares at her Aunt/teacher with a disappointed stare.

Persephone: "...Nobody, not even Ms. Scylia herself, believed she could defeat you back there. The least you could’ve done was confidently defend yourself from her attacks until Ms. Scylia was too tired to keep on fighting."

Stopping in dumbstruck curiosity, the 3rd Wave DæMon tilts her head at the 2nd Generation.

MamMon DæMon: "And what do I gain from responding to such contumacies in such a way?

What would be proven if, instead of ending the disagreement as quickly as I just did, I blocked and dodged my attacker?"

Suddenly remembering exactly how she watched Itsuka had blocked and dodged the offensive strikes from an emotionally fueled Vegetius, instead of firing off SeiõrShots at him.

MamMon glares daggers at the more outspoken than usual 2nd Generation. Upset with her partner, but still timid enough, unable to look the DæMon woman in the eyes.

Slightly losing her patience, the Queen restarts their migration.

MamMon DæMon: "I don’t have enough time in the world to pander with Skalmönd’s over emotional lackies."

Persephone: "But you do.

You can control your age, and you have Seiõr superiority over us humans.

There’s always a chance for you to-"

MamMon turns around and in one step, she stops her face only a few centimeters away from an intimidated Persephone.

MamMon DæMon: "Listen, I don’t believe in whatever bright, sentimental, child storybook, bullshit you are trying to push onto me.

Existence itself is dark, and good endings happen to only 10% of all life.

While the remaining 90% are ignorantly hopeful they will die in their sleep, but they’ll never understand they have been fated to suffer as just another tragedy."

No longer fearing the nihilistic leader, Persephone straightens her spine as MamMon spins around and continues ranting.

MamMon DæMon: "The best way to solve a problem is to erase it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Preventing as many casualties of our civilians as possible.

I’ve been doing it that way ever since I defeated every sister in my Wave.

I’ve been doing it that way since over 80 years ago, when I introduced the world to a pair of temporary suns and nuclear weaponry.

Ultimately, ending humanity’s most bloody war to date. Not before causing unforgivable repercussions to a small population of the losing side’s civilians."

Persephone remembers the original admittance from the DæMon, of tricking the still WMD (and Seiõr) ignorant humans to publicly use her most powerful SeiõrShot without raising suspicion.

MamMon DæMon: "In a demoralized reaction, those SeiõrSuns proved the rebellious nation they could all be effortlessly evaporated without any opportunity to retaliate.

The victims to those blasts of nuclear Seiõr were necessary in order to prevent their fervent country of one hundred million men, women, and children from fighting to a military mandated death against Vinland ground troops. "

Noticing a bit of remorse in her Seiõr mentor’s voice, the author writes as fast as her wrist possible can to record the Scandinavian woman’s entire statement.

{Inside MamMon’s Forest}

While one of the 3rd Wave twins is preaching her opinion at the center of the island, her identical sister calmly strolls through the thick, shadow blanketed woods.

MamMon DæMon Voice: "10%...

The decimation of a group is very effective in psychological control.

Especially when an uncooperative gang can be easily and systematically picked off, without any effort from their executioner."

The dismembered limbs belonging to the unlucky 10% of Vinland soldiers who traveled through the naturally obscuring arena.

Rifles bitten in half.

A still sheathed AIG lays in a puddle of cold blood.

Without any sunlight to charge the HeatHolster, the blade and coils within spark and sizzle as the foreign liquid substance seeps into the inner heating mechanism.

MamMon DæMon Voice: "It’s the universal antithesis to why a tragic fated ninety percenter is willing to wake up everyday..."

As the gold nailed DæMon finally approaches the forest center, she side steps a large tree and looks across the barely setting sun lit opening.

With smeared blood still on his face, Esau has his hands behind his head as he leans back against soft, furry, giant Garmr.

MamMon DæMon Voice: "...In hopes their personal story doesn’t end unexpectedly, horrifically, alone, publicly hated, scared, or all of the above."

The mythical wolf pulled from the Æther notices the witch’s presence first, lifting his head, and stares in her direction with yellow battle scarred eyes.

Not moving a face muscle to his permanent scowl, the unselected Yin Vessel spots the expected visitor with his own green human eye and alien symbiote.

MaMmon DæMon: "Well, I’m impressed, unfortunate Esau. It seems you have finally earned the privilege to visit your late, beloved wife.

Well, are you ready?"

Back in Outer Sanpaku, the messily jotting Persephone follows closely behind MamMon. At the short distance, she can hear the speaker and also use her peripheral vision to watch where she’s going while documenting the notes.

MamMon DæMon: "If the universe wants to pick and choose which of that 10% lives and dies happily, then I’ll randomly choose 10% of life to perish. If that ensures the 90% can experience some sort of joy, before their own tragic fates."

As she walks across the street, along a faded crosswalk, Persephone responds, not having crossed with her Seiõr tutor.

Persephone: "Hehe...’10%’, huh?"

Once again, an unamused MamMon is forced to stop and reluctantly turns to face the pink eyed 2nd Gen on the opposite side of the pavement.

Persephone: "You know, it’s kinda funny. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

In my series, I wanted to have something beyond the meta.

Something that would make the reader laugh, but also seriously consider.

So I introduced a character who is also as overly dedicated to writing their own fictional series as I am.

In their series they also have a character who is a aspiring writer.

Anyways, there is a Chapter where she says she believes ’it’s 10% of humanity who doesn’t want to interfere or trouble others at all, but to live quietly and peacefully.

Unfortunately, it’s that same 1/10th who are constantly treading in the dark, cold, political and social shark infested waters of their hate filled reality.

As enemies to nobody, their unwillingness to pick a side makes that 10% the enemies to all of those with enemies. Left to eventually be dragged under by those who only see red and only aim to chum up the waters’."

Persephone shakes her head and begins walking across the street, towards her territory’s Queen.

Persephone: "Who’s to say the 10% you believe must be sacrificed, aren’t the same group of noninvasive, self accountable people, unable to cause violence even when inflicted against themselves?"

Once the questioning 2nd Gen reaches the other side, her cold hearted DæMon relative simply responds...

MamMon DæMon: "Then I released them from this Hell of existence they clearly didn’t deserve to be in."
