She Asks for a Divorce Again-Chapter 72 - : I Let You Go
Chapter 72: Chapter 72: I Let You Go
Shen Jiangli paused, glanced at Shen Heyu on the hospital bed, and saw that she was only looking at Pei Yansi with a guarded expression. He understood that there were always knots to untie between husband and wife, and indeed she was his wife.
He didn’t stay long, pulling open the room’s door and exiting, but then sat on the blue bench in the corridor, just listening to the noises inside. If there was any abnormality, he would be the first to rush in.
After his departure, only two people were left in the room.
Pei Yansi pulled a chair over and sat beside Shen Heyu, his cool gaze fixed on her. He asked, “What are you crying for?”
“Let’s divorce,” Shen Heyu wiped her tears by herself, and soon the tears stopped flowing. It was as if she had become numb to the extreme and could cry no more.
This was already the countless time she had brought up divorce to him. Pei Yansi frowned and said, “Impossible.”
...
“It’s just right; the child is already gone. Let’s divorce.” Her tone was firm as she coldly looked at Pei Yansi. In those eyes was a fiery brightness, as if she intended to burn his heart to ashes. He could read clear hatred in them.
Hatred for himself, intense like a blaze.
Stabbed by such a gaze, Pei Yansi felt a scorching pain in his heart. He said, “The child isn’t mine, is it?”
“Since that’s the case, it’s even better that the child is gone. There’s no need for divorce, and I will not pursue this matter with you. Just sit tight in the position of Mrs. Pei, and don’t even think of escaping it for your entire life.”
Hearing these words, Shen Heyu couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh, “Even now, you still say such things. Pei Yansi, divorce!”
“Impossible.”
“Either death or divorce. You choose one,” Shen Heyu resolved. Her ashes-like eyes stared at him with clear determination, as if she would really seek death if he refused to divorce.

“Are you threatening me?” Pei Yansi’s gaze grew colder, and his look at her sharpened.
“I’ll tell you, what I hate most in my life is being threatened. If you want to, then die. As for divorce, let me tell you, it’s impossible, not in this lifetime.”
After listening to his words, Shen Heyu fell silent for a long while. Then she suddenly laughed, the laughter bleak, filled with utter despair. She said to him, “So you truly hate me to this extent, preferring to see me die, to watch me die, rather than stop tormenting me.”
“Yes, you’re right,” he said.
Pei Yansi scoffed coldly, “So no matter what, it’s impossible for you to leave the identity of Mrs. Pei. Do you understand? Don’t let me hear those two words from your mouth again.”
Shen Heyu fell silent, no longer speaking.
She stared into his eyes, those beautiful phoenix eyes which held nothing but endless indifference. Only on the rarest of occasions, when he looked at Bai Sheng’er, would a hint of warmth emerge.
But that sight, she feared she would never see for herself in this lifetime.
She scoffed coldly. Since it was torment no matter what, it might as well end with death. She suddenly reached out, pulled out the IV from the back of her hand, and said to him, word by word with determination, “Then I also want to tell you, I detest you thoroughly. I would rather die than be Mrs. Pei!”
After speaking, she rolled out of bed, as if her body felt no pain, and headed straight for the window, seemingly intending to climb through it.
She attempted to climb through the window, to end it all in one fell swoop.
Pei Yansi didn’t expect her to take such an action, caught off guard by her reaction. By the time he came to his senses and moved, she had already run to the edge of the window.
“Shen Heyu, are you mad?”
His eyes blazing red with fury, he roared and took large strides forward, grabbing hold of Shen Heyu’s hand.
But he was still a step too late; her body had already climbed over the window sill. He had only managed to grab her wrist while her entire body dangled outside, swaying in the wind.
She was originally very slender, and drifting like that, she seemed even more like she could be blown away by a mere gust of wind at any moment.
“Get up here!” Pei Yansi tightly grasped her wrist, trying to drag her up, but she wouldn’t use his force to help herself. Instead, she leaned back, hoping to let gravity do more, and she looked at him and said, “It was you who said that between divorce and death, you’d rather see me dead than divorced.”
“Let go!”
Shen Heyu used her other hand to pry at his fingers.
Trying to break the grip of the fingers that held onto her own.
Seeing this, Pei Yansi’s heartbeat began to quicken; he didn’t know why, but a painful feeling of being in a hopeless situation started to spread slowly from the bottom of his heart.
Throughout his internal organs, it made his whole body begin to tremble. At this moment, he actually felt that what his hand clutched was not Shen Heyu but himself.
If she fell, he would be like a walking corpse.
He used both hands to catch Shen Heyu and pulled hard. In the end, male strength naturally overwhelmed female strength by a wide margin. With that pull, Shen Heyu’s frail body was yanked up.
The instant he pulled her back into the room, he hugged her tightly and roared in a low voice, “Are you insane!”
“Let me get a divorce…” Shen Heyu was held so tightly by him that she couldn’t escape. She didn’t struggle and let herself be held.
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably in his arms, “Let me go… the child is gone, I beg you…”
When Pei Yansi heard her words, his eyes became bloodshot, and his heart felt as if it had been violently torn apart. He didn’t know where this feeling came from; not even when Shen Fanshuang died did he feel this much.
He simply thought that he was angered by her impulsive actions.
He let her go and stared at her, saying, “Fine. Divorce.”
Shen Heyu looked into his eyes, at his handsome face that was so close, at the man she had liked since her youth. Now, looking at him, her heart was as dead and still as a stagnant pond.
As if this man had never existed.
Or perhaps had existed, but from the day she became trapped by his side, he had already died in her heart.
Shen Heyu smiled, “Thank you.”
Seeing her genuine smile and hearing that thank you, he fell silent for a moment and didn’t speak.
But her two words stabbed at his heart.
“Prepare the divorce agreement yourself and come find me.”
After Pei Yansi finished, fearing to hear any more hurtful words from her, he stood up and left the hospital room without looking back.
When he walked out, Shen Jiangli hurriedly stood up. The two exchanged glances filled with enmity and finally passed by each other.
Shen Jiangli entered the hospital room and saw that Shen Heyu was still on the ground. He helped her up and back into bed.
He said to her, “How can you sit on the floor?”
Shen Heyu stared at the ceiling, her eyes reflecting a pool of dead stillness. She said, “You said last time that if I needed anything, I could ask for your help. Does that still count?”
“Of course, it counts. What I’ve said will always count in front of you.”
“I want to leave this place forever. Can you help me?”
