She Has Three Little Treasures: Fake Heiress, Yet Captures The Tycoon's Heart-Chapter 1029: Trampling Morality Underfoot
Jasper Hawthorne’s eyes held disdain; he was well aware of how dark the heart beating within the chest of this seemingly gentle old man was.
Jasper restrained his anger as he continued watching.
After a simple welcome, a reporter stood up to routinely inquire about The Hawthorne Group’s future direction.
Vincent Hawthorne, confident and composed, elegantly explained his philosophy on managing the company, and then said, "Words are not enough. Just listening to me say this may still leave everyone with many doubts, so let me show you the plan for managing The Hawthorne Group."
As he spoke, he looked toward his assistant.
The assistant understood Vincent’s intention immediately and connected the USB drive to the computer.
What they were about to showcase was a major deal they had expended tremendous effort to secure, even though this deal meant The Hawthorne Group would not only fail to make a profit but lose billions. However, the shareholders were unaware.
As soon as they see The Hawthorne Group has formed an alliance with Western royalty, they will surely flock in, and The Hawthorne Group’s stock will skyrocket, recouping the inevitable loss in an instant.
The assistant’s mind was flooded with these thoughts, and his hands did not falter as he quickly clicked open the folder and the contract.
Then, at the moment that the document, supposed to be an electronic contract, was opened, it turned into a video.
Appearing in the video playing was Mrs. Hawthorne, Susan Kensington. She knelt on the floor, facing a black memorial tablet placed on the table, shedding tears as she choked out a confession of her wrongdoings.
The assistant’s heart skipped a beat; he instinctively tried to close the video, but for some reason, it just wouldn’t close. He immediately pressed the power button on the computer, yet it acted as if frozen, unable to shut down. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The assistant saw Vincent Hawthorne staring at him desperately, and he could only make a helpless expression.
He truly had done his best, but the video simply wouldn’t close.
He could only watch, eyes wide, as the video continued playing.
In the video, Susan Kensington continued speaking, detailing word by word the things she had done, both overtly and covertly, to marry Vincent Hawthorne.
Though many things Susan said didn’t quite amount to crimes, they had thoroughly trampled upon moral grounds.
Moreover, some of those matters indeed violated the law.
Furthermore, Vincent Hawthorne, the subject, was not entirely innocent either.
He had held a grudge against The Forrest Family for forcing him to marry Autumn Forrest, a move he saw as taking advantage of his weakness, and couldn’t let go.
Thus, when Susan committed her misdeeds, he not only stood idly by but actively fueled them.
This conduct instantly made all the women present reach the pinnacle of their disdain for Vincent Hawthorne, while the emotions of the remaining men were quite complex.
As successful individuals, choosing to marry, for the sake of their career or other reasons, a woman they don’t love as a wife, while maintaining a young, attractive, and likable mistress outside, seemed normal to them, and they didn’t see why it warranted censure.
But to bear a grudge against The Ellison Family and persecute one’s first wife was just too inhumane.
So, was Vincent Hawthorne’s arrangement for The Hawthorne Group’s development his current wife kneeling before the first wife to apologize and confess guilty?
It was not impossible.
There’s an old saying that a prodigal who returns is worth more than gold.
Yet Vincent Hawthorne’s approach was somewhat small-minded, and merely admitting his wrongs in hopes of gaining support and approval for his role as CEO of The Hawthorne Group was somewhat far-fetched.
As these thoughts flickered through everyone’s minds, the video finally ended.
