She Has Three Little Treasures: Fake Heiress, Yet Captures The Tycoon's Heart-Chapter 1040: Are You Going to Work Hard Tonight?
Old Mrs. Hawthorne recounted the events from earlier, chuckling the whole time.
Elias Hawthorne saw Raina giving him a hard look and also chuckled.
"Laugh, laugh, laugh, that’s all you know," Raina grumbled and stepped on Elias’ foot before heading upstairs.
Elias didn’t follow her immediately but turned to Old Mrs. Hawthorne: "Grandma, you..."
Elias began to speak, but Old Mrs. Hawthorne cut in: "I’m well-fed, sleep soundly, and have fun. Everything’s great. If there’s anything lacking, it’s a little one running around the house. If you want to keep me happy, free of illness, and let me die with a smile, hurry up and catch up to make babies. If you keep dawdling, don’t blame this old woman for whacking you with her cane."
Elias: "..."
Old Mrs. Hawthorne urged, "Hurry up, what are you waiting for? Don’t tell me you want this old hag to take your place in the bridal chamber?"
Elias: "..."
Elias resignedly: "Grandma, I’ll go up now."
After bidding goodnight to Grandma, Elias headed upstairs. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Old Mrs. Hawthorne watched Elias’ hurried footsteps and sneered, "He’s in such a rush yet pretends otherwise in front of me. Hmph!"
Auntie Warren laughed and said, "Isn’t this just a way for the eldest to honor you?"
"What kind of respect is this? He’s clearly afraid I’ll give Raina a hard time. My grandson must think I’m a mean old mother-in-law."
"That’s where the eldest is mistaken. He doesn’t realize that in your eyes, Young Madam is like your own, while outsiders are just picked up. Isn’t that right, Old Mrs. Hawthorne?"
"You understand me well, old woman," Old Mrs. Hawthorne said, letting out a sigh, "As long as their brothers love each other, and the couple is harmonious, I can rest easy. I can face my old man peacefully when I pass."
Thinking of how the Hawthorne Family is now, lacking fatherly and filial love, Old Mrs. Hawthorne felt quite sad.
Auntie Warren, understanding Old Mrs. Hawthorne’s worries, tried to console her: "Old Mrs. Hawthorne, don’t worry. With Young Madam around, everything will turn out fine."
Old Mrs. Hawthorne thought of Raina, and her expression immediately improved: "Marrying Raina is the Hawthorne Family’s blessing."
Second floor, bedroom.
Raina had just sat in front of the dressing table, taking off the earrings from her ears, when the bedroom door was pushed open. She turned her head and saw Elias walking in.
Raina was a bit surprised: "Why are you up here so fast? Didn’t you want to spend more time with Grandma?"
Though so much had happened lately, even though Grandma seemed fine, surely her heart was troubled.
Elias walked behind Raina, raised his hand to take off the necklace from her neck, and then helped her let down her hair: "I did want to spend more time with Grandma. But Grandma said if I kept dawdling, she’d come up here to be with you herself. I was forced."
Upon hearing this, Raina glared at Elias, "You conveniently act coy."
Elias chuckled softly: "I’m not acting coy; I’m following Grandma’s orders."
"Following Grandma’s orders?" Raina raised her eyebrows. She glanced at Elias through the mirror, somewhat skeptical: "Are you really that obedient?"
"Of course. Don’t you believe it?"
"I don’t believe it, so I have to test it out," Raina suddenly stood up, and before Elias could move, hugged his neck, stood on tiptoe, leaned into his ear, and whispered breathily, "Grandma also said we should have a little one. Are you going to work hard tonight?"
