Chapter 883 - 883: You’re My Mommy

It's truly amazing how Homurahara Academy is a place full of hidden talents—five out of the ten Masters all come from this school.

Yes, five.

In addition to Shinji, Sakura, and Rin, the last two Masters—Soichiro Kuzuki and Emiya Shirou, are also from Homurahara Academy. The former is a teacher, while the latter is a student, and theoretically, both should be in Shinji's class, the second-year C class in the high school division.

The reason I say "theoretically" is because, in reality, neither of these two is in Shinji's class, nor are they even listed in the school's records.

To ensure that Justeaze's wishes were fulfilled, Shinji made meticulous preparations, and gathering information on potential Masters was part of that. Enrolling at Homurahara Academy, beyond the silly reason of proximity to the three main protagonists, was primarily to closely monitor these prospective Masters.

However, since Shinji's enrollment until now, he hasn't seen anyone who matches these two names.

At the time, he was completely baffled.

Emiya Shirou is understandable and not particularly surprising. That was the name Kiritsugu gave to a child he rescued and adopted from the fire at the final battleground of the Fourth Holy Grail War. Because of Shinji's interference, the location of the final battle changed, and the great fire in the new city never happened, so naturally, Kiritsugu never adopted an orphan and named him. That child, who should have been named "Emiya Shirou," is likely still living an ordinary life with his biological parents, far removed from the world of the mystery. So it's not surprising that "Emiya Shirou" isn't attending this school since Homurahara Academy isn't the only high school in Fuyuki City.

The problem lies with Soichiro Kuzuki. He was an assassin trained from childhood by a certain secret organization, who later escaped and came to Fuyuki City to live a quiet life as a teacher. Shinji's activities in Japan have been limited, both in time and place, so he shouldn't have interfered with Kuzuki's fate. But why didn't he come here?

There are many possible reasons—perhaps he was killed during a mission, failed to leave the organization, or was delayed by something. But whatever the reason, there is still a possibility that he might come to Fuyuki. The same goes for Emiya Shirou, who could transfer here. So, Shinji can't relax until the last moment. That's why he plans to do another sweep of the entire school to see if there's anyone who matches his memories.

As he walked openly around the school, passing by each classroom, he garnered many admiring glances from the girls and envious, jealous looks from the boys, all while confirming that there were no young, stern-looking teachers or red-haired boys present.

He also went to the faculty office, hypnotized the principal with a suggestion spell, and checked the list of all students and staff to ensure he hadn't missed anything. Only then did Shinji feel relieved. Although he doesn't know the exact reason, it seems unlikely that Emiya Shirou and Soichiro Kuzuki will participate in the war. The focus of the next stage should shift to monitoring and investigating the foreign Masters.

When Shinji came to this conclusion, it was already past 4 PM. This was the most lively time at the school, as cultural classes had ended, and most students were beginning their club activities.

Just like in the morning, Shinji visited the Archery Club, brewed a pot of tea, prepared some snacks, and leisurely watched the club members practice their archery.

There's something to be said about how people who are focused have a particular charm, and archery, being one of the activities requiring the most focus, is no exception. The archery uniform, a traditional Japanese outfit, combined with the focused high school students in uniform—plus the added element of sweating—makes one's mind wander.

"I suddenly understand why so many people like watching archery."

"Oh? Why is that?—Hmm, these snacks are delicious, where did you buy them?"

Someone sat down next to Shinji, naturally took a cup from the tea tray, poured herself some tea, and grabbed a snack to eat.

"They aren't bought, I made them when I had nothing better to do."

Even though Shinji had already sensed that it was Ayako Mitsuzuri, he still felt a momentary sense of awe when he saw her in person.

Unlike the morning, Ayako was now wearing an archery uniform. The white and black style, combined with her unique warrior-like aura, made a far stronger impression than when she was wearing her school uniform.

"Hey, who would've thought, you're not only good at studying but also in other areas."

Ayako, in her straightforward manner, didn't mind Shinji's gaze, quickly finishing the snack in a few bites.

"My family's elders are all busy; I can't always let Sakura do all the cooking."

"Oh yeah, Sakura's cooking is great too. Both of you make others envious."

"Can't help it, born talented."

Hearing Ayako's praise, Shinji smugly brushed his hair. It was at moments like these that he somewhat resembled his former self from the original timeline.

"You're late for your club activities again this afternoon. Was it because of the budget issue?"

"Yeah, the student council president is unexpectedly stubborn."

"And then? Did you give up?"

"No way?"

Ayako snorted, "But debating isn't my strong suit, so I handed it over to Rin. She's the only one in the school who can face off with the president head-on. I trust she won't lose."

"Best of luck to you then," Shinji said, raising his teacup.

"We'll succeed," Ayako replied, clinking her cup against his and then downing it like it was alcohol.

"I've got to get on the field now. I didn't practice in the morning, and I was late this afternoon. I can't let the underclassmen surpass me so easily."

But fate seemed to have other plans for Ayako. Just as she stood up, the door to the archery hall was pulled open. A pair of small hands wearing wool gloves and a little head wearing a leather hat peeked around the door.

"A little kid?"

Ayako was surprised. How could there be a child of about four or five years old in the archery hall?

However, the next second, she pushed the question aside. No matter the reason, she couldn't just ignore the child now that she'd seen her.

"Little sister, how did you get here?"

Ayako asked as gently as she could, while carefully approaching the child.

Perhaps Ayako's smile was full of warmth because the little girl was no longer as shy as before and stepped out from behind the door.

"Where's your mommy?"

Ayako asked again.

"Mommy?"

The little girl tilted her head.

"Yes, your mommy. Would you like me to take you to her?"

"No need," the little girl thought for a moment, then shook her head. "Mommy is right here."

"Mommy? But there's no one here who could be your mommy..."

Ayako looked around the archery hall and the sports field outside, but there were only students—no one who could be the little girl's mother.

"No, mommy is right here."

"Then can you tell me who your mommy is?"

The little girl seemed so certain that Ayako couldn't help but wonder if she had missed something.

But what happened next was something Ayako couldn't have imagined. The little girl suddenly hugged Ayako's leg tightly and loudly declared:

"You—you're my mommy."
