Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 340: Xie Is a Bit Clingy
For the nomination of who in the Yu Family resembles a ruthless businessman the most, Yu Xia is on the list every year.
Yu Heng never fails to cast a vote for her annually.
"What are you talking about, bro? I’m not that kind of person."
She argued vehemently, pointing to the copper coin, "It’s said that it’s the thought that counts. Although this is cheap, it’s also carefully selected by me, painstakingly strung up, and earnestly put together. While stringing, I even wished in my heart for fortune and prosperity for you, for my sister-in-law to stay forever eighteen, and for my nephew to... to always top the class. This thought is so valuable that no one can buy it even for a hundred and eighty bucks!"
Yu Heng listened to her rambling, and when she finished, said expressionlessly, "You really put a lot of thought into this. To express the same sincerity, I feel that among these packaged snacks, only the yogurt can be left to you; it’s the only one I wished for smooth digestion when I bought it. The others lack such thought."
Yu Xia quickly pounced forward, "Dear brother! Sometimes, when the blood ties are too close, it doesn’t matter if there’s no thought behind the gift!"
Yu Heng laughed at her annoyance, handed the items to her, and sat back in the car.
"Alright, go back to filming your variety show. The yogurt is for you, eat everything else yourself first before sharing it."
She nodded like a pecking chick.
"Dear brother, safe travels."
He glanced at her, raised the car window, started the car, and drove away.
Before the exhaust dispersed, Yu Xia was already running off with the stuff.
Because the program specifically prohibited accepting donations like this, she didn’t expose the items on camera.
Once it got very late, everyone had found a place to stay overnight and turned off the drones, she took the items out.
The place they stayed overnight was a top-tier room in a pub, just one room, very spacious, shared by three teams.
Besides Yu Xia and Xie Qingci, the other two groups were Song Xi’s and Tan’s couple.
Everyone was tired from running around during the day, and they had just about toured the film base, so all six stayed in the room without going out.
Yu Xia sat cross-legged in the corner, the corn bun gifted by her brother was shared around, leaving one specifically reserved for Xie Qingci.
She was like an old nanny worrying about the children’s growth, carefully placing the corn bun she painstakingly kept till the end into Xie Qingci’s hands.
...Well, not so carefully after all, as she had a yogurt straw in her mouth and casually pulled it out of the bag to hand to him, speaking in a light tone.
"Kept this for you, eat quickly."
Xie Qingci broke the corn bun into halves, giving her one half. Without the cameras on them, his previously polite requests turned into undeniable actions.
"You eat too. Or should I feed you?"
"... I’ll eat, I’ll eat."
She finished it in a few bites, dusting off her hands, wanting to stand up and check outside.
Staying cozily next to Xie Qingci wasn’t going to work; anyone with eyes could see the little secrets between them.
As she stood up, Xie Qingci stood up too, following her and asking, "Where are you going?"
Sitting on a chair, Tan, who was massaging her legs laughed looking at them, saying meaningfully, "Xie is a bit clingy; that’s not how you chase someone."
Her gaze clearly didn’t think their status was still only at the pursuing stage.
Yu Xia wasn’t fazed, raising her brow she spoke to Xie Qingci, "Did you hear that? That’s not the way you chase someone."
Xie Qingci smiled gently, "Then how should I chase you?"
Two people smiling at each other seemed like watching a golden pair in courtship to others, making Tan laugh even more.
Sitting opposite, Song Xi and Lan Hui weren’t as composed.
Lan Hui was surprised, Song Xi was expressionless with a stiff face, stubbornly staring at the glaring sight.
Lan Hui didn’t realize his mood, simply felt an urge for gossip without an outlet, thinking he, as a team member, surely knew more, cautiously asking, "So Xie Qingci is really pursuing Yu Xia?"
Song Xi quickly withdrew his gaze, lowered his head, and responded coldly with an "Mm."
Maybe sensing he was too cold, he added, "Isn’t it quite obvious?"
Lan Hui sighed softly, saying quietly, "I didn’t believe it before since he just debuted... but Yu Xia is indeed beautiful, certainly a type that catches the eye."
Love at first sight?
Song Xi chuckled, suddenly interested in talking to her, "You think it’s love at first sight?"
"Maybe? Yu Xia certainly has that charm. Though it could be feelings developed over time too? Just my guessing. Do you know more?"
"No," he glanced at the two walking out together again, "my relationship with Xie Qingci is normal, he only tells our other two teammates anything."
After two seconds of pause, with a chuckle he added, "But I think, Xie Qingci doesn’t seem like someone who falls in love at first sight."
He seemed more like the type that attracts girls even without speaking, just standing there silently.
Lan Hui nodded in agreement, her round eyes sparkling with interest.
"Indeed. That’s why I was skeptical hearing about the sparked romance rumors due to acting a few days ago."
After all, gossip is juicy and federally talked about, even celebrities are quite intrigued.
"I can’t really comment, I haven’t acted before. What do you think?"
Song Xi pushed his glasses with his finger, eye sharpness hidden behind lenses, adding a touch of warmth, speaking with a polished smile.
Unlike the refined rogue image in suits, now he resembled a well-regarded student council president cherished by teachers and classmates.
Lan Hui felt his smile oddly unsettling, not quite like defending a teammate.
She chose not to comment directly, delicately sharing some personal insights: "Acting inherently involves emotional immersion for authenticity, inevitably affecting immediate feelings. Like, my first acting experience led me to fancy the good-looking lead temporarily, but I got over it after leaving the crew. Even if affected, it’s not profound."
Hence, it’s hard to say whether Xie Qingci’s rumored blossoming affection due to acting was true.
She leaned towards false, Xie Qingci’s fondness for Yu Xia was evident.
Song Xi’s smile softened slightly, "I see."
That response usually signifies closure.
Lan Hui thought their exchange ended, but after a moment, Song Xi softly asked her: "Do you think..."
He fell silent midway, closing his mouth, brows furrowed in mild vexation.
Song Xi was indeed rather irritable.
Since the chat outside the recording studio with Wei Yaoyao last time, he’s been stuck in this disarrayed and chaotic state.
Scarier than his previous jealous and cynical thoughts, he felt like a headless fly, aimlessly crashing around in a sticky spider-webbed tin barrel, desperate to escape disorder yet terrified of clarity.
Yu Xia said she wouldn’t like him, Xie Qingci belittled him as a rival, Wei Yaoyao accused him of self-deception; he anxiously wanted to ask an outsider who knew nothing—what should he do?
