Chapter 1102. Solution

Charles had lost his memories, but the sacrifices that he had made for Lily's sake couldn't be erased.

Charles' feelings toward Lily had disappeared, but the latter's feelings toward Charles would never disappear, even though she had already become a god. Regardless of what the future was going to be, she would face it together with him.

"Lily," Charles said, calling out to the dazzling sun in his arms. The radiant sun was searing him constantly, but Charles didn't seem to mind it.

"Yes, Mr. Charles? I'm here," Lily replied.

Moments later, several towering tentacles stretched out from the ground, lifting up the sun. "You should adapt to your new body as soon as possible. Physical touch is a behavior that suits humans more than us.

"It is unnecessary and unsuitable for us, so you must change."

Lily hovered in midair, slowly orbiting the flesh island. "Mmhm, okay."

Charles nodded in satisfaction, and then he said, "Since you've become the Light God, you shall inherit the Light God's plan."

If there was anything that could give humans a chance to survive on other planets, it would undoubtedly be the presence of a sun.

"All right, Mr. Charles," Lily replied, just like how she used to reply upon accepting the captain's orders on the Narwhale.

The Light God's plan was to select a sufficient number of candidates and leave the Subterranean Sea when the time was ripe.

"My daughter, go help her," Charles said. He knew that Sparkle's special ability was going to be helpful when locating great seeds. When needed, she could also teleport those people before Lily.

"Okay," Sparkle replied. She tapped lightly on the ground with her high heels and took to the sky, teleporting above Hope Island in an instant.

Of course, Lily was with Sparkle, and the former's radiant light fused with the sunlight coming from Dawn One. The sunlight pierced Hope Island's canopy, allowing Lily to "look" at her fellow crew members.

"I'm going to choose everyone!" Lily exclaimed. She thought of her friends and fellow crew members before everyone else.

First Mate Bandages was quietly signing documents in the Governor's Mansion...

Boatswain Dipp was working with his wife to track down criminals...

Chief Engineer Audric was drinking blood in an underground bar...

Ship Doctor Linda was using her special abilities to heal people.

Sailor Norton was in prison once again...

They were all Lily and Charles' most cherished friends. Thus, when Lily heard that they needed to choose people, the first people who came to her mind were them.

However, Sparkle's words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Lily's head.

"No, Daddy said that you can only choose ordinary humans. Deep Dwellers, vampires, immortals, and those who have turned into monsters cannot be chosen."

"Why?!" Lily asked. She was clearly dissatisfied with Sparkle's reply.

"Because we're trying to save mankind. The crew members you have in mind are no longer human," Sparkle said. Then, she quietly wrote Nene and her mother, Donna, on her list of chosen people.

"But they're all our friends. No, I need to go ask him first." The anxious sun turned around to leave but was blocked by an indescribable cluster of fluorescent tentacles.

"Don't expect to change his decision using his feelings toward them in the past. His humanity has been eroded to the point that he no longer considers emotions as a variable to his decisions."

"No way that's true! And if you insist, then doesn't that mean that he won't get to leave as well?" the huge sun replied, sounding agitated.

"That's right. He had never considered himself to be one of the chosen ones in the plan. In just a month, he will become a god. His existence will end in a month. The contingency plans are all for the sake of what's going to happen after his demise."

The sun remained silent and unmoving.

Sparkle noticed that and realized that Lily seemed to be stunned by her words. "He didn't say that to you? Mmm, now that I think about it, you really don't know anything about that."

A fluorescent tentacle pounced on Lily, transmitting a torrent of brand-new information into her.

"Then why is Mr. Charles not doing anything about that? He's going to die!" Lily exclaimed.

Lily's words made Sparkle feel frustrated. "As his daughter, do you really think I haven't done anything to make him do something? I also thought of many ways to help and save him.

"Then, I realized that whatever I could think of, he could think of it, too. The fact that he hasn't been doing anything about it means that the problem is impossible to resolve.

"His fate was sealed the moment he became a god.

"The only thing we can do right now is help him—we have to help him so that his sacrifice will not be in vain," Sparkle added in a low voice.

However, Lily clearly couldn't accept that kind of outcome. She had gone through countless hardships to come back here, and she wasn't willing to accompany Mr. Charles for just one short month!

The plan to select the seeds of humanity was immediately paused. Lily was willing to help Charles, but the prerequisite was that he had to live well. In her heart, Mr. Charles was more important than anything else!

"We need to save him." Lily decided. The colossal sun left Hope Island and headed toward the distant, pitch-black sea.

"How are you going to save him?" Sparkle really wanted to hear Lily's suggestion.

"What if we keep stripping away the knowledge in his brain to suppress his growth?" Lily asked upon instantly coming up with a possible solution.

"I've been doing that, but it only delays the inevitable. And Daddy's special ability allows him to see afterimages of the past and the future. I can only strip away the current knowledge in his brain; I can't remove his knowledge of the past.

"His knowledge of the past has been influencing him, and it has been making him grow uncontrollably," Sparkle replied.

Realizing that the possible solution she had come up with wasn't going to work, Lily quickly thought of another solution. "Then let's strip away Mr. Charles' will and separate him from his divine body."

"Don't even think about doing that, Sis. Dad has already become a god. The will of a god cannot be stripped away. He can't strip away your will, and you can't strip away his will, either.

"And even if there were a solution, Daddy wouldn't want it. Back when he had chosen to become a god, he had already made his choice. I guess the Foundation's destruction has affected Daddy, even though he has been saying the opposite."

Lily proposed several more solutions, but Sparkle rejected them all. Charles had come up with those solutions as well, and they were all problematic when performed on a god.

"Time! Let's modify time! Let time stand still for him, or make him fall into a time loop. That might be a solution," Lily said, recalling how she was once trapped in 010's time loop.

"Daddy had thought of that as well, but time contains too much knowledge to gain mastery over. The vast amount of knowledge will instantly turn him into a god. In fact, absorbing any knowledge is like ingesting poison for him."

"I know, so why would he have to do that? He didn't have anyone else on the same level as him back then, but doesn't he have me now?"
