Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 130: The Flower
Chapter 130: The Flower
The four dodged immediately, getting away from the blasts of water. They began dodging around, now understanding that the water they stayed on was the domain of the monkey. It followed its command, as though it was its limb.
The monkey jumped around, causally commanding the columns of water to shoot out of the lake. With each movement, streams of water lashed out at each one even as they dodged. The attacks were relentless and powerful enough to break anyone’s bones if they got hit by it.
Lucille was the first to get out of the water, but when she did, she realized she was stuck in the marsh instead. It was far more difficult to navigate in the muddy marsh, than it was on water. As a result, she got back onto the lake, hoping to not get hit by the streams of water.
Jax attempted to get close multiple times, but he kept having to dodge. He managed to use his Poison threads just once, which thankfully stuck. It would slowly keep hurting the monkey, so long as it didn’t rid itself of the threads.
Columns of water continued to sprout out of the lake, falling down on the group.
"We need to end this quickly," Jax shouted over the sound of rushing water. "We can’t keep this up much longer."
"Lucy, you need to attack," Melayne screamed.
Lucille had the Thundercloud Staff in her hand already. She just needed to use the attack. However with them all being in water, soaked all the way through, this was extremely dangerous. As for the flame explosion spell she had used earlier, it was trickier.
The Thunderbolt spell originated from the sky and came down upon the enemy. But the explosion spell originated from her. If during the delay, there was ever another ally between her and her opponent, that person would get hit by the attack.
Lucille had 2 other spells, but one of them needed contact with the enemy, and the other one launched from before her as well, making it dangerous for her allies. She didn’t know what spell she should use at all.
Just as she contemplated her situation, a stream of water blasted from right next to her, pushing her away. He tried to dodge the blast of water, but she was caught in it, thrown into the water with a force strong enough to knock the air out of her and break her ribs. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
She immediately began drowning.
"Lucy!" Melayne shouted and made her way toward her. While she went for Lucille, Ning and Jax focused on the monkey, trying to find a way in.
Ning’s eyes were fixed on the monkey, staring directly at its neck where there was another spot. If he could get to it somehow...
"I can see the final spot," he told Jax. "But I don’t know how to get to it."
Jax wanted to cause a distraction for the monkey, but it was attacking all four each time. There was no way to taunt it to attack just one person. None of them had that spell at least.
Jax’s eyes darted around, trying to think of a way. Any.
Another sprout of water came from the side, which he dodged. At the same time, he saw a way.
"Ning, to me!" he shouted.
Ning didn’t understand what was going on, but he trusted Jax and ran toward him.
Jax extended his hands toward Ning, threads spinning out from his fingers.
"Grab it!"
Ning understood immediately. He grabbed hold of them without hesitation, wrapping it around his fist as tightly as he could.
"Ready?" Jax asked.
Ning nodded and braced himself.
Jax used all of his skills at once, pouring Navi throughout his body and through the strings. At the same time, two columns of water appeared right beside them. This time, Jax didn’t dodge. He pulled on the threads suddenly, using them like a slingshot to launch Ning directly at the monkey.
Ning blasted through the air toward the Monkey, while the blast of water hit Jax in the back, pushing him into the water, driving the air out of him. Pain flared throughout his body, and at a moment when he should have gone unconscious, the pain brought clarity to his mind.
His eyes opened wide underwater as he struggled to keep himself from breathing in any fluid into his lungs. He slowly stood up out of the water, pain ringing throughout his body, causing him to tremble.
He didn’t care at the moment. He looked toward the Monkey.
Ning’s spear had pierced cleanly through the monkey’s neck, finding the exact spot that could wound it. The creature’s demonic features froze in surprise before its massive body collapsed into the water.
The Lakeborn Monkey hit the water with a tremendous splash and lay still. The lake itself seemed to calm, no longer churning with supernatural energy. The sprouts of water suddenly disappeared.
A small glow appeared on the monkey, and loot flew out from its body.
"It’s over," Ning said, pulling his spear free and grabbing onto the loot.
Jax took a long and deep breath as the battle was finally over. He turned around once and saw Melayne pulling Lucille out of the water. To his surprise, Lucille had survived the attack with no visible wound at all.
She didn’t even seem to be in pain.
He was the only one that kept getting the bad end of the deal it seemed.
While Ning waited for everyone to go over to him, Jax instead went elsewhere.
He waded through the shallow lake, toward the small island, finally able to claim the flower he’d been seeking for so long. He arrived at the island and reached for the single blue flower upon the tree.
He plucked onto it and it came off the branch as simply as breaking off a piece of dry twig. He couldn’t help but wonder what hidden treasure this flower was.
Whatever its true nature, it would have to be worth all the trouble they’d gone through to get it.
