Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 79: New Unlock
Chapter 79: New Unlock
Jax was shown to a fancy room with a polished wooden floor, a large open window with a balcony beyond it, a bath in the corner, and a massive bed with white sheets on it.
"You may request for anyone after 9," Serin said before walking away.
Jax watched her leave and shut the door.
"Huh, not a bad place for it being a village," Gemma said. "Well, one would expect this much for 5 opal stones." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Jax walked over to the bed and slumped down, his head in his hands. "I can’t believe I actually got this room. I don’t even need most of it."
Gemma laughed. "That’s not even the worst I’ve seen someone do when they let their other head do the thinking," she said. "Just let loose tonight."
Jax lay on his back and looked at the ceiling. Even the ceiling was beautiful in this place. At least, compared to the other places he had been to.
Gemma flew around the room, leaving what seemed like tiny trails of light.
"That’s new. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything trailing from you before. Are you alright?" he asked.
"Oh, that’s fine. I just get more and more humanoid as I go higher up the carriages since I get to be closer to the Navigator. Don’t worry about it," she said.
"You’ll become a human?" he asked.
"I’ll still be a spirit. I’ll just look like something else," Gemma said. "Not necessarily a human. I’ll let you figure out what I am on your own."
Jax fell silent at that moment. "I need to first figure out what I am," he said. "Can you help me?"
"I can’t give you that answer, but as I said before, there is a way to find out in the 8th Carriage. You will just have to wait."
"Can’t you tell me what I could be though?" he asked. "I got stronger, faster, and could think better when I was low on blood. Being wounded actually makes me better somehow."
Gemma remained silent for a while. "That narrows down things a lot, but it is still difficult to say. There are many beasts with this sort of racial feature that we call a ’berserker’. You could be an orc or a troll, or a dragonborn. Honestly, I can’t tell you right now."
Jax nodded. "I suppose there are too many races to choose from."
He raised his hand into the air and pulled out a tall white staff, with a cloud-like structure at the end, with a deep blue crystal jutted at its center.
"The Thundercloud Staff," Jax said slowly. "So beautiful, and yet so useless for me."
"It can be useful if you happen to get Lightning or Sound opal stones. Unlocking those elements would give your spell another edge, when used through this staff."
Jax looked at the grooves along the side of the staff, feeling it on his palm. They were the runes wrapped around the staff.
"That’s alright," Jax said. "I will be selling this anyway. I just need to decide who I will be selling this to. Nobody here at least. I will have to go to a better city to sell such a thing."
"That’s a good idea," Gemma said.
Jax stood up and pulled out the 4 Earth Opal stones he had received after killing the Kobold boss. Since he had already used 3 other Earth Opal stones, these were just the ones he needed to use.
As long as he did that, he was certain that he would unlock the Earth threads.
Jax held one of the stones in his palm and used his technique. Soon, Navi began drawing into his body and into his sea through the left side of his body, while his right side began spewing out brown threads onto the ground.
<’Divine Threads’ has been used with Earth Navi>
<Continue using the spell to unlock the ’Earth’ element.>
With his Navi Absorption technique, he could absorb and use Navi at once, so he didn’t have to worry about accidentally letting the Navi flow into his mind where it would get used by the spell on its own.
Jax knew he didn’t need too many Earth stones to unlock the Earth threads, but when the notification came, he was still surprised.
’How? I’m not even halfway done with the stone,’ he thought, but upon looking at the notification, he realized that he had misjudged the situation.
<Congratulations! You have reached the 4-Star Opal stage.>
"Oh..." Jax thought in quiet surprise. "I just went up a stage."
"Huh?" Gemma’s voice came from the side, her body leaving behind trails of light. "You reached the 4-Star Opal stage?"
"Yes, just now," Jax said. "That leaves just 2 more stages to go through in 6 months."
A wide smile appeared on his face at that moment. "I can’t wait for that."
"Congratulations. And thank your luck that you have more stones now, since the requirements for unlocking the next elements have now gone up even higher."
Jax nodded and continued. He finished the first Earth stone and moved onto the second one. Once he was done with it, he moved onto the third one. When he was halfway done with the stones, he finally heard the notification.
<Congratulations! You have successfully unlocked ’Earth Element’>
Finally, Jax stopped, letting the threads fall off his fingertips. "I did it," he said and quickly opened his status to find the description of the spell where the element showed.
Earth: Threads assigned with the Earth Element are 10 times as heavy and 3 times as durable as the regular threads.
"Hmm, not as flashy of an effect as I would’ve hoped, but simple is good too." He explained the new element to Gemma who had the same reaction.
Jax created some threads and let it land on his palm, where he could immediately feel the weight of the string. He tested its durability by trying to break it, and found himself not able to.
"Not bad," he thought. "This will make for an excellent thing to constrict them with."
