Sinner System-Chapter 444: Calamity Raids (Part 2)
"Alright, this is it. Let’s get right to it," I remarked as I stared up at the tall, looming Dungeon before me, before turning my attention to the entrance.
"Yes, it’s just about time to enter," Nodded Petrus, before he and the Detector followed after me as I approached the entrance, walking through it and entering the structure.
As I stepped inside, a wide, grassy terrain came into sight, a pleasant, cool temperature in the area. Nice, looks like we’ve got an easy terrain type to traverse, that should make it easier to get through this.
Now, then...
"<Emerge, Apostles of Lust, Envy, Sloth and Pride: Luxuria, Invidia, Acedia and Superbia>," I chanted, before adding as the four of them appeared before me, "And, <Emerge: Ai>."
"Incredible, such intense Auras. I see why you were so confident about handling this yourself," Remarked Petrus, as he glanced between the Apostles.
"<Hm? Who’s this guy, Master? Thought it was just going to be us and a Detector>," Responded Luxuria.
"Yeah, slight change of plans. Alright, as planned, myself, Superbia, Ai and Invidia will be at the front line. And as for you two, Acedia and Luxuria, you’ll be rotating between the front and mid lines. Petrus, you’ll also be at the mid line, as we discussed."
We then got into formation, before we began heading through the first floor of the Dungeon. Whatever’s in here, I’ll wipe them all out.
The biggest threat I can imagine, besides the Demon Lord himself, would be an Archdemon with a broken Demonic Art.
"Huh? Um, I sense Monsters up ahead, five of them. But...they’re Low Levels!" Suddenly called out the Detector.
"What? Low Level Monsters in Calamity Level Dungeon? Are you sure?" Responded Petrus with a frown.
"Yeah, I’m certain," She nodded without hesitation.
"Well, looks like this Dungeon is probably going to be mind-numbingly easy across the first stretch. I suppose that isn’t a bad thing, we’ll be able to conserve our energy until things start to ramp up," I pointed out thoughtfully.
"<I think we can just have one of us fight on each floor where there are only Low Level Monsters. Actually, that should be fine for Mid Level Monsters too>," Suggested Superbia in response.
"Yeah, any one of us shouldn’t have a problem with even a larger number of Low and Mid Levels," I nodded after mulling it over, before adding as I glanced at Ai, "How about you go first?"
We’ve been training Ai for a while now, and she’s become a pretty capable fighter. But she hasn’t fought any Monsters yet, all her combat experience has been solely through sparring sessions with me, the Apostles and Aria.
"<Very well, I suppose this is a good opportunity to test out the results of my training>," She replied, as she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
"Alright, then it’s settled. Let’s keep going," I remarked, Ai moving up a bit further ahead as we continued making our way through the Dungeon.
It wasn’t long before the Monsters came into sight, a pack of five Goblins.
This is definitely strange, considering that their evolutionary cycle doesn’t go any further than High Level, with Ogres.
The species in the evolutionary cycles of Giant Ants, Demons and Dragons are usually the only ones you see in Calamity Level Dungeons.
So, Goblins are among the last species I’d ever expect to see in a Calamity Level Dungeon. I seriously doubt the Dungeon Boss of a Calamity Level Dungeon is going to be a High Level Monster. In which case, the Dungeon Boss is almost certain to be a species of a different evolutionary cycle. Either that, or this Dungeon consists of a bunch of different, unrelated Monster species.
Well, I suppose there’s no point in looking too far ahead. This Dungeon has a hundred and fifty floors, and we haven’t even cleared the first one yet, so best take it one floor at a time.
"Alright, Ai, you’re up."
"<Understood, here I go>," She responded, before stepping forward.
Two of the Goblins shot towards her, the rest hanging back. Ai raced forward, swinging her right foot forward as she closed in on one of the Goblins, a sharp crunch ringing out as her foot slammed against the middle of the Monster’s face.
Its head got ripped clean off its shoulders and went flying off upon impact, blood spraying out as its body collapsed onto the ground, its head hitting the dirt with a thud and bouncing away.
As the second Goblin lunged at Ai, she swiftly reached out and grabbed the top of its head. It screeched and began to claw at her arm as she tightened her grip, before she hurled it away with a powerful snap of her arm, a loud, crunching splat echoing out as it cracked onto the wall to the right headfirst, its skull bursting upon impact.
She then shot towards the three remaining Goblins, leaping forward as she closed in and grabbed two of their heads before they could react, caving their skulls in as she slammed their heads against each other.
She lunged at the last remaining one as it began try and scrambled away, stumbling and falling onto its back. As the Monster let out a panicked, defensive snarl and shakily held up its hand in fear, she lifted her foot up and stomped on its chest, crushing its ribcage with a sharp crunch before it could get out of the way.
She can use Command, but besides that, all she’s got in her arsenal are direct physical attacks. As it turned out, she had zero affinity with any weapons, but she moves pretty well and packs a decent punch.
So, I got her a pair of heavy gloves with armor-plated knuckles. Low Level Monsters don’t exactly make for the greatest test of her strength, considering that she’s got brute force at around low to mid X-Ace level.
Still, that was a pretty promising display. She’s fairly rough around the edges and definitely has plenty of room for improvement, but she’s only on track to become a pretty capable and reliable fighter.
"Alright, we’re off to a good start, but we’re only just getting started here, so let’s keep moving," I declared, as I approached Ai, the others following after me...
