Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 100: Kiss Me
It was still early when Serena Yardley arrived home.
She hadn’t seen Nina in a few days, and since that man wasn’t back yet anyway, she decided to pop over to Nina Thorne’s house next door.
The person who opened the door for Serena was the family’s new housekeeper. She had never met Serena before and asked as she opened the door:
"Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
Serena smiled and said, "I’m looking for Nina. I live right next door."
"Oh, so you’re Miss Serena from next door. Perhaps you could come back another day? Today is a little inconvenient."
The housekeeper said tactfully.
Serena was confused. "Why is it inconvenient today? Is Nina not home?"
The words had barely left her mouth when the sound of two people arguing drifted out from the villa up ahead.
Serena couldn’t make out what they were fighting about.
The housekeeper said immediately, "You heard them. Sir and Madam are having a rather unpleasant argument. It wouldn’t be appropriate for you to go in right now."
Serena, "..."
’Nina and her husband are fighting?’
’Aren’t they supposed to be deeply in love?’
Serena hurriedly asked the housekeeper, "Why are they fighting?"
The housekeeper gave a dry laugh. "I’m not too sure about that myself. Why don’t you come back another day and ask Madam yourself?"
"Alright!"
Serena glanced at the villa again, still able to faintly hear the people arguing inside.
’It really wouldn’t be right to go in at a time like this.’
She turned and quietly walked back home.
Just as she reached her own front door, she sensed a car slowly approaching her.
Serena stopped and turned around.
A car pulled up beside her, and as the window rolled down, a man’s dashingly handsome face appeared in her line of sight.
Ethan Yardley got out of the car and stood before her, asking:
"Are you just getting back, or are you about to head out?"
Serena thought about how this man had just given her a diamond ring, was giving her a hundred thousand a day, and had also given her several sports cars. ’I guess I can be a little nicer to him for now.’
"I just came from Nina’s house. Are you off work?"
"Mhm. Let’s go."
He raised a hand and gently guided her toward the courtyard.
Serena obediently followed, her head lowered as she secretly snuck a peek at the man’s fingers.
Seeing an identical diamond ring on his ring finger, just like the one she had received, she raised an eyebrow and asked:
"So... a hundred thousand for wearing this one day?"
She gestured at the thing on her finger.
Ethan Yardley glanced at her gesture and strode up the steps. "Mhm."
"Hehe, aren’t you afraid I’ll wear this until you go bankrupt?"
The thought of a large sum of money flowing into her account every day made Serena happy.
The little money-grubber hurried to keep up with him, unable to suppress a smile.
Ethan caught her display of happiness. Paired with what Julian Thorne had told him earlier, he felt a sense of relief.
"That’s nothing. There’s also a daily allowance."
Hearing there was more income, Serena hurried after him into the house. "How much?"
"Ten thousand."
Ethan changed his shoes in the foyer, conveniently pulling out Serena’s slippers and placing them in front of her before heading inside. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Serena quickly changed her shoes and chased after him. "What about the money? Will I see it every day?"
’Before, I was just using his credit card.’
’It felt pretty awkward to charge so much to it.’
’If the money was in my own account, I could spend it without feeling guilty.’
"It will be deposited into your account at eight o’clock every morning. You can check it on your phone."
Ethan loosened his tie and headed upstairs.
He had a habit of showering and changing into casual clothes every day after coming home.
Serena didn’t follow him this time. She took out her phone, used facial recognition to log into her bank account, and checked her transaction history.
Sure enough, starting today, there was a deposit of one hundred and ten thousand.
She was ecstatic. She ran to the kitchen to ask Mrs. Miller, who was making dinner.
"Mrs. Miller, is there anything you need? Tell me and I’ll buy it for you."
"Or if you’re having any difficulties, let me know and I’ll help you."
In Serena’s heart, Mrs. Miller was like family. Mrs. Miller was always taking care of her, but Serena had never really taken the time to learn about her situation.
Mrs. Miller smiled kindly. "Miss Serena, I appreciate the thought, but there’s no need."
Hearing this, Serena knew Mrs. Miller must be facing some hardship.
She quickly added, "Please, Mrs. Miller, just tell me. Let me see if I can help."
Mrs. Miller hesitated for a moment before finally saying:
"I have a daughter who is two years younger than you, but she failed her college entrance exams this year."
"I want to send her to a vocational school, but she doesn’t want to go. I’ve been worried, not knowing what to do."
Serena frowned, concerned. "Mrs. Miller, are you saying you want to find her a job?"
Mrs. Miller said, a little embarrassed:
"She’s only eighteen and doesn’t know how to do anything. What company would hire her? Her only option would be to work in a factory."
"..."
Serena thought about possible solutions.
Suddenly, an idea struck her. She asked Mrs. Miller, "Can she do the kind of work you do?"
Mrs. Miller smiled. "Yes, she can. My daughter may not be good at her studies, but she knows how to do housework and cook."
"Hmm, in that case, maybe I can ask the guy upstairs to hire her as a maid at the manor?"
She remembered that when she went to the main estate, there were lots of maids.
None of them were very old, so Mrs. Miller’s daughter would surely fit in.
"Miss Serena, do you mean she could work at Yardley Manor?" Mrs. Miller was surprised.
Yardley Manor was an incredible place. She’d heard it had a castle inside that was even more beautiful than the ones described in fairy tales.
If her daughter could work there, that would be wonderful, of course.
"That’s right. If you think it’s okay, Mrs. Miller, I’ll go talk to the man upstairs about it later."
Mrs. Miller beamed. "I don’t know how to thank you, Miss Serena. How about I bring her over to meet you later, so she can thank you in person?"
Serena waved her hand dismissively and walked out of the kitchen, saying:
"No need! It’s nothing, really."
She hummed a little tune as she happily went upstairs.
Ethan had just showered and changed, and when he came out of his room, he ran into the smiling young woman in the hallway.
It was the first time he had ever seen her so happy.
Stopping in his tracks, Ethan asked her, "In a good mood today?"
Serena met his gaze, her eyes practically sparkling with dollar signs.
"It’s alright, I guess. Probably the joy that comes from having no financial worries."
No longer treating him like a stranger, Serena took the initiative to approach him. "Could you do me another favor?"
Ethan, "..."
’This woman...’
’Why is she suddenly acting so out of character?’
’Is it just because of the little bit of money I gave her?’
’Surely not.’
"Mhm, go on."
He adopted an elegant posture.
Serena pouted a little and got straight to the point.
"Mrs. Miller has a daughter who didn’t get into college and needs a job. Could you arrange for her to work at Yardley Manor? I saw the maids there aren’t very old."
Ethan glanced at the person in front of him, noting her rare happiness.
He suddenly felt intrigued.
"And why should I help you?"
"Huh?"
A question mark seemed to hang over Serena’s face. "You won’t even help with such a small thing?"
He deliberately leaned down, getting closer to her. His face was gentle, his eyes gazing at her with the affection of deep pools, and his voice was magnetic and full of temptation.
"Give me a kiss, and I’ll grant your wish."
Serena, "..."
She froze, staring at the handsome face that had suddenly moved so close.
Her big, dark eyes fluttered, her heart inexplicably started to race, and the tips of her ears felt hot.
Her whole body felt uneasy.
When she snapped out of it, she hurriedly pushed him away and shouted in a fluster, "Pervert!"
Then she dashed into her room.
