Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 122: Don’t Be Good to Me, I Can’t Take It
Julian Thorne got up to help Leo get dressed. Once they had both washed up, they went downstairs together.
In the dining room, Serena was setting the table.
When Leo saw her, he broke into an innocent, joyful smile and called out, "Miss Serena..."
Seeing the child run toward her, Serena squatted down and opened her arms to greet him.
The little boy dove into her arms and planted a loud kiss on her cheek. "Good morning, Miss Serena."
"Good morning, Leo."
Stroking the child’s soft little face, Serena thought, ’He’s so adorable.’
Dressed in casual clothes, a handsome and sunny Julian Thorne walked over. He looked at Serena and said lazily, "Morning, Serena."
"Morning."
Serena gestured. "Go ahead and sit down for breakfast."
Nina Thorne brought out the last of the porridge. As she ladled it into bowls, she said,
"I have to go home for a bit to get some documents. Julian and Serena, can you watch Leo for me?"
Julian asked, "So when’s the divorce?"
"Let’s wait until he’s handled things with his daughter. I’ll give him another week."
The girl, Clementine, had died. There was no point in pressuring Quinn Gardner at a time like this.
She was willing to give him a few days. Once matters with the child were settled, if Quinn Gardner had no more excuses, then they would see each other in court.
"Alright, leave Leo to us," Julian replied. "Sis, if you need me to do anything, just say the word. It’s often much easier for me to get things done than for you."
After all, he had plenty of friends and brothers on his side.
Suing the Grant Family would be tricky, but it wasn’t a battle they couldn’t win.
They weren’t afraid.
"Yes, I just need to sort out some documents at home and explain the situation to Mom and Dad. You don’t need to worry, just take good care of Leo."
Leo looked up at his mother, pouting as he said in his innocent, childish voice,
"Don’t worry, Mommy. I’ll be a very good boy with Uncle and Miss Serena. Don’t worry about me."
"I’m not worried."
Looking at her son, Nina Thorne still couldn’t hide the bitterness in her heart.
She had once promised her son that she would give him a happy, complete home.
After marrying Quinn Gardner, she thought their family of three would be very happy. She never expected...
She never imagined the dream would shatter so quickly. She had married him, bringing her son into the family, just two months ago, and now they had already reached this point.
How cruel fate could be.
After breakfast, Nina Thorne gathered her things and left.
Serena and Julian were in the living room with the little boy, teaching him to read and write.
...
After finishing breakfast, Ethan Yardley stared at his phone.
Knowing Serena was just next door—and thinking about Julian Thorne being there with her—he finally couldn’t resist going over.
The housekeeper opened the door. Seeing it was Ethan Yardley, she said politely, "Mr. Yardley, please come in."
Ethan Yardley walked through the front door and looked up to see two adults and a child sitting in the living room.
The scene was oddly heartwarming, creating the illusion of a family of three.
Ethan found the sight jarring.
However, he didn’t show his anger. He strode over and called out to Serena, "Serena, I’m taking you to the hospital for a check-up."
When she had been discharged from the hospital, the doctor had instructed her to return periodically for follow-up appointments.
Serena pretended not to hear, continuing to teach the child beside her. "You’re so smart, Leo. Come, let’s continue with this problem."
Leo wasn’t listening. He just blinked his big eyes, gazing at the man standing not far away.
He asked Serena curiously, "Miss Serena, is that your husband?"
Although Leo had seen Ethan Yardley before, he didn’t recognize him.
Serena turned the boy’s head toward her and instructed, "Pay attention to the problem. Look at the book. We’re continuing."
The little boy obediently focused back on his textbook.
Beside them, Julian gestured. "Have a seat, Ethan."
"I’ll stand."
With extreme patience, Ethan spoke to Serena again. "Be good, Serena. Let’s go to the hospital."
"If I need a check-up, I’ll go myself. You don’t need to worry about it."
Serena kept her head down, still refusing to even look at Ethan.
Ethan felt a little helpless.
He stepped forward, reaching out to pull her.
Serena struggled. "Don’t touch me."
Ignoring the fact that there was a child and another person right there, Ethan simply bent down and swept her up into his arms.
Serena was mortified and quickly started beating his chest. "Ethan, what do you think you’re doing? Put me down!"
"I told you I’m taking you to the hospital for your check-up."
He carried her out.
Serena kept struggling. "I’ll go myself! Put me down!"
"No."
"I’ll bite you if you don’t."
"Bite me, then."
And Serena actually bit him.
But Ethan didn’t even flinch, simply carrying her out of the villa.
Back in the living room, the little boy propped his chin in his hands and watched the older man carry Miss Serena away. He tilted his head glumly to look at his uncle.
"Uncle, are you envious?"
Julian forced a pained smile. "What’s there to be envious of?"
"He has a wife. You don’t."
"Neither do you."
Julian ruffled the boy’s hair. "We’re both single, so let’s not judge each other."
"But I’m just a kid. You’re already a grown-up."
"So what if I’m a grown-up? I could have any woman I want."
The boy didn’t believe him. "Keep dreaming, Uncle. My mommy says the women around you are just acting. In reality, you’re just an innocent puppy."
Julian Thorne: "..."
Looking at the boy beside him, he couldn’t believe such a little kid could have such a sharp tongue.
He knew everything.
And it would have been fine if he just knew it, but he had to go and say it out loud.
He reached over and tweaked the boy’s ear. "Just focus on your studies. I’ll smack you if you keep spouting nonsense."
...
On the way to the hospital, Serena sat in the passenger seat, staring out the window and ignoring the man driving.
Ethan, however, kept turning to look at her.
He deliberately tried to start a conversation. "Serena, do you like milk tea? I’ll go buy you some in a bit."
"I don’t want any."
"Want to get hot pot?"
"Not hungry."
"You love shopping, right, Serena? After your check-up, I’ll take you to the mall."
"I don’t want to go."
Ethan: "..."
’So she really plans on keeping this up with me.’
But remembering it was his own fault, Ethan didn’t say anything more.
After taking her to the hospital for her follow-up, the doctor said she was recovering very well and there were no major issues.
As for her lost memories, they might gradually return in her day-to-day life, or they might not.
But it wouldn’t affect her life in the slightest.
Leaving the hospital, Ethan drove to the mall.
He had booked movie tickets online, hoping to take her to a movie over the weekend.
After all, the two of them had never gone to the movies together.
They had never even gone out on a date like a normal couple.
To improve Serena’s mood and get her to forgive his mistakes, Ethan was willing to drop everything just to take her out and do whatever she liked.
But Serena wasn’t interested.
She sat in the car, refusing to get out.
Ethan walked around the car, pulled open the passenger door, and moved to pick her up.
But Serena awkwardly twisted away and said coldly, "Don’t act all nice and fake with me. I can’t bear it."
