Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Actually, Quinn Gardner Loves You

Serena Yardley wouldn’t come home, and there was nothing Ethan Yardley could do about it.

He had no choice but to take care of his own business first.

But that evening, he still planned to go over in person and bring her home.

In the spacious and bright living room.

Serena Yardley, Julian Thorne, and Leo Thorne were still the only ones there.

Nina Thorne hadn’t come back all day.

After learning that Quinn Gardner was planning to leave, she had immediately taken the Divorce Agreement and gone out to find him.

But the man was too cunning. She went to his company, the old family house, and every other place Quinn Gardner might usually be, but she couldn’t find him.

At ten o’clock that night, Nina Thorne returned home, dejected.

Seeing her return, the three people in the living room quickly stood up to greet her.

"Nina, why are you back so late? Have you had dinner?"

"Mommy, where did you go? You’re only just getting back."

"Sis, did you not get the documents sorted out?"

Nina Thorne, looking exhausted, walked over and sat down.

"I’ve eaten dinner. Did you miss Mommy, Leo?"

"Yeah."

The little boy rushed to his mother and hugged her tightly around the waist.

Nina Thorne held him on her lap and looked at her brother. "All the documents were prepared, and the court accepted the case, but Quinn Gardner isn’t cooperating."

The court officials must have listened to Quinn Gardner. On the surface, they had dispatched people to investigate him before making a ruling according to the law.

But she knew it would be incredibly difficult to make it to the day a verdict was reached.

"What right does he have not to cooperate? Sis, you stay home. I’ll send people out to find him. I’ll drag him to court even if I have to carry his corpse."

Julian Thorne stood up angrily, about to leave.

Nina Thorne quickly stopped him.

"Don’t cause a scene. You spend all your time in the entertainment industry. How can you fight a man who operates in the business world?"

"Besides, he and Ethan Yardley often do charity work for our city, donating money and supplies. The people they associate with are all powerful and influential. We can’t win against him."

"So we’re just supposed to let him get away with this?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Julian Thorne exclaimed in a low voice.

He hated how useless he was, unable to even protect his own family.

Nina Thorne lowered her head. "If he wants to drag this out, then let him. I refuse to believe he’ll stay away for the rest of his life. Even if this divorce case takes a year, or ten years, I’ll see it through to the end."

The judge had told her that the evidence she provided to the court wasn’t enough to prove marriage fraud, because the child wasn’t living with him.

Her claim that he wanted to take their child’s bone marrow to save another daughter couldn’t be substantiated either, because no actual harm had been done.

Hearing the judge say that had made Nina Thorne so angry she wanted to hit someone.

So she knew that getting the court to grant her a divorce from Quinn Gardner would be harder than climbing to heaven.

"Then let’s just wear him down. He’s the one earning money. In the meantime, Sis, you don’t have to do anything. Half of Quinn Gardner’s money still has to be split with you. Let’s see who this war of attrition favors in the end."

Julian Thorne said through gritted teeth.

He decided he would later send someone to seduce Quinn Gardner and frame him for infidelity. He refused to believe the court wouldn’t grant a divorce then.

"Nina, doesn’t marriage law state that separation for a certain period of time can be grounds for divorce? If you have no contact with him starting now, your chances should be much better if you sue for divorce again in a year or two," Serena Yardley pointed out.

Nina Thorne glanced at her and sighed. "I guess that’s the only way."

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

The housekeeper went to open it. Seeing that it was Mr. Yardley, she nodded and said, "Mr. Yardley is here."

Ethan Yardley walked straight into the house.

The moment Serena Yardley saw him, she felt a flare of anger. She quickly ran to hide behind the sofa and whispered to Julian Thorne, "Just say I’m not here, that I went back to school."

But Ethan Yardley had already caught a glimpse of her hiding.

He pretended not to have seen her, however, and walked forward, feigning surprise. "Just you guys? Is Serena not here?"

Julian Thorne replied, "She went back to school. Didn’t you know?"

"When did she go back?"

Ethan Yardley sat down as if he owned the place.

"This afternoon. She was here for less than two minutes before she left."

"Is that so."

Looking completely unconcerned, Ethan Yardley turned to Nina Thorne. "Do you really have to get a divorce?"

Nina Thorne put her son down, looked at Ethan Yardley with a cold expression, and answered his question with one of her own. "Do you think I shouldn’t?"

"I think there’s still room for discussion. Quinn was in the wrong, but considering how desperate he was to save his daughter..."

"Ethan Yardley, if this had happened to you, would you be able to accept it?"

Nina Thorne cut him off coldly.

She now looked at Ethan Yardley with the same hatred she felt for Quinn Gardner.

Ethan Yardley was instantly speechless.

He let out a breath, deciding not to meddle any further. He stood up and said, "Come on out. Come home with me."

Serena Yardley pretended not to hear and didn’t move.

Ethan Yardley glanced in her direction. "Serena..."

"Hehe, Miss Serena said she’s sleeping with me tonight. She’s not going back with you."

Leo Thorne suddenly ran over to Serena Yardley.

Knowing she couldn’t hide anymore, Serena Yardley emerged, hugging Leo Thorne and sitting beside him. She said petulantly, "I’m sleeping here tonight."

Ethan Yardley’s eyes filled with resignation. "Do you want me to carry you?"

Serena Yardley’s cheeks flushed, and she glared at him. "Who wants you to carry them? I’m not going back. I’m sleeping here."

"Sounds like you do want me to carry you."

Ethan Yardley closed in on her.

Leo Thorne immediately jumped in front of Serena Yardley, squaring up as if ready for a fight.

"Don’t you bully Miss Serena! She’s sleeping with me tonight, not you."

Ethan Yardley crouched down, pulled the child over, and teased him, "Leo, do you want to see your dad?"

Hearing this, the little boy angrily punched Ethan Yardley in the face. "I don’t have a dad! I hate that bad daddy to death!"

Ethan Yardley was left speechless.

Having been punched for no reason, he pressed his lips together in frustration.

Ignoring the child, he looked at Serena Yardley again. "Let’s go. Come home with me."

"No."

Serena Yardley was still sulking.

Left with no other choice, Ethan Yardley moved to pick her up.

Serena Yardley hated it when he tried to carry her in front of others. It was humiliating.

She quickly stood up to evade his touch and ran outside.

Seeing that she had left on her own, Ethan Yardley turned back to Nina Thorne and added:

"Actually, Quinn isn’t as terrible as you think. Clementine was an accident, but he truly loves you. He’s been in love with you since high school."

"Besides, Clementine’s mother looks a lot like you. He once told me that Clementine’s mother was like a second you."

"He probably accepted a woman who looked so much like you because he thought he could never be with you back then."

"I believe that since we all grew up together, you should know deep down what kind of person he is. There’s really no need to take things to the point of a lawsuit."

"After all, you two have a child together. For the child’s sake, just take a step back."

As someone who had witnessed their relationship, Ethan Yardley truly didn’t want to see them part ways after finally getting together after all these years.

It wouldn’t be so bad to let Quinn Gardner spend the rest of his life making up for his mistakes.

"What do you mean by that, Ethan? You have to pick a side, but at least pick the right one!"

"Is Quinn Gardner even human? He tried to force his five-year-old son to give bone marrow, and he proposed to my sister and married her while hiding the fact that he already had a daughter."

"His intentions were impure from the very beginning, and now you want my sister to just swallow her grievances and stay with him?"

Julian Thorne couldn’t help but retort angrily.

Ethan Yardley glanced at him, his voice flat. "You guys can think it over yourselves. I’ve said all I have to say."
