Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 151: Ethan Yardley, I Miss You So Much
Cynthia Meyer naturally knew who Serena Yardley was talking about.
But there were some things she wasn’t ready to let her roommates know.
Looking at Serena Yardley, she said, "Let’s go outside to talk."
"Fine."
Serena Yardley got up and left. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
The other roommates saw them leave. Though suspicious, they were more interested in the luxury goods in their hands, so they paid them no mind.
By the window at the end of the dorm hallway, Cynthia Meyer turned to face Serena Yardley. Her usual quiet and introverted demeanor had vanished, replaced by the haughty air of a completely different person as she looked down on her.
"I know who you really are. You’ve put on quite a good act."
She snorted coldly.
Serena Yardley was unfazed. "I just want to know what your relationship with Quinn Gardner is now. Are you two often alone together?"
Cynthia Meyer laughed. "You don’t know my relationship with Mr. Quinn? He probably feels sorry for me. He asks me out to eat every few days."
"He asks you out?"
"Obviously!"
Serena Yardley fell silent.
’That man won’t get a divorce, yet he’s still asking other girls out every few days. He’s really got it made with the ladies.’
Sometimes, Serena really felt it was unfair to Nina, and her anger made her grit her teeth.
Cynthia Meyer added, "Serena Yardley, as for how far my relationship with Mr. Quinn will go, I hope you’ll mind your own business.
"I won’t tell anyone that you’re Professor Yardley’s mistress. From now on, let’s stay out of each other’s way. Understand?"
’She had seen Professor Yardley and Serena Yardley together at the hospital before and had thought Serena was his sister.’
’It was only after asking Quinn that she found out they were a couple.’rolling
’A man of Professor Yardley’s status would only be interested in Serena Yardley because she’s good-looking.’
’Just a mistress who can’t be shown in public. There’s no need for me to be afraid of her.’
’And the position of Mrs. Grant that her sister lost—she was determined to take it back.’
Serena Yardley was speechless.
’I’m Ethan Yardley’s mistress?’
’Where did this person hear that? She didn’t even bother to verify it before spouting nonsense.’
Ignoring that, she asked, "Judging by your tone, you’re looking to take things further with Quinn Gardner?"
Cynthia Meyer didn’t deny it. "Although Mr. Quinn has a wife, they’re getting a divorce soon. Who wouldn’t like an excellent, single man?"
’That cold-blooded woman with the surname Thorne just watched Clementine die without lifting a finger to help.’
’She was going to take back everything that belonged to her sister and make that Thorne woman and her son get as far away as possible.’
"Cynthia Meyer, don’t blame me for not warning you. Thinking like this is dangerous. Don’t dig your own grave, or you’ll die a miserable death."
Serena Yardley advised her with good intentions.
But the other girl seemed completely obsessed and wouldn’t listen at all.
She gave a cold smile and stepped closer to Serena Yardley.
"Me, digging my own grave? Do you have any idea how pitiful Clementine was? She could have lived. If that kid, Leo Thorne, had just donated his bone marrow, she would have lived."
"But they weren’t willing to donate. They would rather watch Clementine die than save her. Serena Yardley, you have no idea how hopeless I feel."
"You haven’t suffered like I have, so don’t you dare preach to me about kindness. This isn’t your business, so stay out of it."
As she spoke, a sinister, eerie coldness glinted in Cynthia Meyer’s eyes.
Serena Yardley confronted her, her own expression blank, her eyes filled with resentment.
"Then let me tell you this: Nina Thorne is my sister. I don’t care what happens between you and Quinn Gardner, but if you dare hurt Nina Thorne, I will never let you off the hook."
"HAHAHAHA..."
Cynthia Meyer laughed like a maniac. "Why would I hurt them? All I want is what my sister lost. HAHAHAHA..."
Laughing wildly and arrogantly, she turned and walked away.
Watching her leave, Serena Yardley was so angry she wanted to go and slap Quinn Gardner.
In the end, she couldn’t contain her anger. But feeling it would be meddling to contact Quinn Gardner, she dialed Ethan Yardley’s number instead.
He answered quickly, his voice gentle. "Serena."
"Ethan Yardley, are you busy? I need to talk to you."
Serena Yardley left the dormitory and wandered aimlessly around campus.
Ethan Yardley said, "I’m not busy now. Go ahead."
"I know I shouldn’t meddle in other people’s business, but today Nina and I were near our school and saw Quinn Gardner with Clementine’s aunt."
"The girl’s name is Cynthia Meyer. She lives in my old dorm room, so I know her."
"It seems like she likes Quinn Gardner. I mean, what is he thinking? He won’t divorce Nina, but he’s going out on dates with a girl who’s interested in him."
"That’s such scummy behavior."
Ethan Yardley listened patiently, more or less understanding the situation.
"Nina Thorne saw Quinn Gardner with that girl too?"
"Yeah, Nina looked awful at that moment. I know she actually cares a lot deep down."
"And when I went to see Nina today, I ran into Mrs. Grant, who came to demand they give her Leo. Her attitude was terrible."
"I understand. I’ll ask Quinn Gardner what he’s thinking later."
Serena Yardley felt bad for Nina, and at the same time, asked with great insecurity:
"Ethan Yardley, you wouldn’t be like Quinn Gardner, getting involved with other women on the side, would you?"
She couldn’t be blamed for thinking that way. After all, Ethan had been so busy lately, and he hadn’t been staying over.
’Even when he does stay over, he doesn’t sleep with me. It’s not like I’m being unreasonable by feeling insecure, right?’
Ethan Yardley held his phone, his eyes lowered, his handsome face devoid of any expression.
He opened his mouth but couldn’t speak.
’He was feeling guilty.’
Luckily, no one was around. He tried to hide his inner turmoil and said in a low voice:
"I’m not like him. I only love Serena."
"Mm, so how many days will you be on this business trip? I didn’t really feel it before, but now that we’re apart, I kind of miss you."
"I miss you, too."
Hearing him say "I miss you, too" suddenly sent a sweet warmth through Serena Yardley’s heart.
She couldn’t help but smile, her eyes curving into crescents, looking as adorable as a silly young girl experiencing her first crush.
"So how long until you’re back?"
"Three days."
He said it casually.
"Oh, okay, that’s not too long. I’ll wait for you at school. Same as always, come pick me up from school when you get back from your trip."
"Okay."
"What are you doing now?"
Even though there was nothing else to say, she found herself reluctant to hang up.
Listening to his pleasant, magnetic voice felt like a luxury.
’I wish I could just keep listening to his voice like this and never hang up.’
"I’m looking over a project," Ethan Yardley replied.
Serena Yardley pouted, crouching by the grass and plucking at the blades.
"...I was about to say I shouldn’t bother you, but why is it that I just want to keep talking to you?"
"Ethan Yardley, I suddenly really, really miss you. I want you here with me."
Ethan Yardley took a deep breath, his voice still gentle. "Then I’ll come back tomorrow."
"No, no, I was just saying. You should focus on your work, and I’ll focus on my studies. How about I hang up for now?"
"Serena, take good care of yourself and the baby. I’ll bring back gifts for you both when I return."
’He knew he was guilty; he should be spending more time with her to make it up to her.’
’Running away couldn’t erase what he’d done.’
’He couldn’t let Serena’s mind wander with wild thoughts while she was alone anymore.’
Serena Yardley felt that Ethan Yardley still had her in his heart. She smiled and replied, "Okay, I’ll wait for you then. I’m hanging up now?"
"Mm."
Only after Serena Yardley hung up did Ethan Yardley put away his phone and get back to work.
Serena Yardley stared at the name ’Ethan Yardley’ on her phone screen and felt it wasn’t right at all, so she edited the contact name.
She changed "Ethan Yardley" to "Hubby."
Only after changing it did she get up and leave.
She had one class in the afternoon, studied for two hours in the evening, and when she got back to her dorm, Kylie Cross came running to find her.
"Serena..."
Serena Yardley was sitting at her desk and turned her head toward the door.
Kylie Cross walked over with a smile. "We’re going camping this weekend. Do you want to come?"
’A weekend?’
Serena Yardley shook her head. "I’m not sure. Where are you guys going? Is it far?"
"Not far, only a few dozen kilometers according to the map. Come with us, please?"
Kylie Cross hugged her, wheedling.
Serena Yardley had never gone out with her roommates before.
’But Ethan will be back by the weekend, and I want to be with him.’
After thinking for a moment, she declined. "Maybe I’ll go with you guys next time!"
"Why? Last time, you said you’d have us over to your place, but it’s been so long, and you still haven’t invited us."
"Now we’re inviting you camping and you won’t go. Honestly, are you trying to draw a line between us? Are you planning to ditch your sisters?"
Kylie Cross pretended to be angry.
Serena Yardley didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Of course not. How about I ask my family first, and if he agrees, I’ll go?"
"Get back to me by tomorrow at the latest. You’re not allowed to say no, or we’ll all ignore you from now on."
"Okay, okay." Serena Yardley felt she had no choice but to agree.
