Sky-cracking Rider-Chapter 777: Section 772 - Engineering
Chef Abel's invitation was neither belittling Chen Fei nor a real shortage of help. Wasn't it great that everyone could have fun together in the kitchen?
When one reached a certain level in a profession, it ceased to be grueling labor and became an interest that one could deeply enjoy.
In some ways, this invitation represented acknowledgment. If Chen Fei was interested in pursuing a career as a chef, it meant there was a clear, expert-led path before him, which was undeniably better than an inexperienced newcomer bumbling around like a headless fly.
Of course, Chen Fei didn't want to take that path (Abel: No, you do!), becoming a mechanic and a combat pilot after majoring in Economics was absurd enough. He had barely crawled out of the troublesome pit that was Cangqiong Star (Thinking of Peach's 47th Squadron: Thank you!), and he surely didn't want to embark on an even more bizarre journey.
He was so fed up, having wasted four years in the Ivory Tower just to end up on a battlefield—or a kitchen? Damn it all!
Breakfast had just started not long ago when the members of the Genuine Fragrance Combat Flight Squadron and their colleagues from the mechanics team arrived at the dining hall, each yawning and still reeking of alcohol. The two groups were distinctly separate, one side chuckling and the other, mostly quiet.
Strangely enough, after a raucous night, everyone got up early. Not a single person was late for work because of a hangover.
Speaking of alcohol tolerance, the Genuine Fragrance squadron and the mechanics team were among the best at Aircrew Base, often found at Medusa's Beautiful Eyes.
The former increased their tolerance because "those close to the chef drink," and even those who couldn't handle their liquor improved after being exposed daily to Squadron Leader Chekhov's boozy influence.
The latter, always hard at work, partook in modest daily drinking to relieve fatigue. Although they did not get as wildly drunk as Chekhov Big Bear every day, their consistent sipping over time turned each of them almost into a liquor immortal, with an average tolerance even greater than that of the Genuine Fragrance squadron.
After a round of boisterous greetings, everyone dug into their breakfast and started wolfing it down collectively before heading straight to the hangar. In a blink, only a few cats were left in the canteen, which swiftly quieted down. About ten minutes later, more people gradually appeared for their meals.
The other logistical units had duty shifts, so their start times were staggered to avoid overwhelming certain facilities too quickly.
"'Rookie', did you bring back any spoils of war from Cangqiong Star? Besides alcohol!"
Tempun Schneider, who graduated from the Eagle's Nest with Chen Fei and was then tricked into joining unit 911, walked alongside him.
At last night's welcome party, everyone had a blast drinking. This morning, Tempun realized he still had a belly full of questions to ask.
"Yes, plenty!"
Chen Fei nodded.
Thank goodness for Mr. Randon's generous gift package, or else he might still be worrying about how to bring everything back.
"Can you reveal a bit about them?"
Known by the flight nickname "Sauerkraut," Tempun turned into a curious baby.
He had never been to Cangqiong Star and was very curious about another civilization's customs and culture, despite all the videos and tourist information available, but they were hardly satisfying.
"It would take too long to tell right now, but it's enough to pile up into a mountain!"
When Chen Fei mentioned "pile up into a mountain," he meant it could literally be piled into a mountain.
"Pile into a mountain?"
"Yes, pile into a mountain!"
"This is crazy..."
"Are you from Dongying?"
"Just an expression, I've been watching too many of their shows lately, it just slipped out."
"Swoosh—ka!"
"???"
Watching shows but not following them—the followings are for dooming dragons.
In battling the rebel army, Chen Fei hadn't spared any enemy equipment, claiming it all, from Sky Falcon fragments to remains of the Light Wing Ship and various ground equipment. Regardless of condition, if it could be exchanged for energy points, he included all in a systematic calculation.
The Dog System had an energy point storage limit of 45,000, but with clever strategies and technologies like "Spatial Branding" beneath, the reserves of metal materials that could be exchanged for energy points easily exceeded 100,000 tons.
Nowadays, warfare was about hurling tons and tons of metal at the enemy, ensuring that even if it didn't kill them, it would leave them bruised.
As soon as they entered the hangar, Squadron Leader Chekhov transformed, striding purposefully and giving animated orders left and right. He sorted out the Genuine Fragrance Combat Flight Squadron's duties, instructed active pilots to execute their flights and those on standby to continue waiting. If anyone found themselves completely unoccupied, they were to pick up a legitimate book and study.
Despite his propensity for heavy drinking and getting outrageously drunk, Squadron Leader Big Bear seldom let it affect his responsibilities.
Behind every successful man, there's often a devoted woman.
The vice squadron leader, Miss "Devil Pepper" Iline, energized Comrade Chekhov by pouring a bucket of ice from head to toe.

HP+1000!
MP+MAX!
The effect was immediate.
The squadron leader and deputy complemented each other perfectly!
Just in time to see Rookie Chen Fei and "Sauerkraut" Tempun Schneider stepping on everyone's heels as they were the last to enter, and Squadron Leader Chekhov's order just came to them.
"This morning's flight schedule is already arranged, 'Sauerkraut,' your flying time is from two to four in the afternoon, 'Rookie,' you have no flight arrangements, free time, the mechanic wants to see you!"
A stack of tactical tablets was issued, one for everyone, basically keeping everyone busy.
"Roger that!"
Tempun Schneider received his tactical tablet, glanced at today's work plan, and waved at Chen Fei.
"We'll talk after work!"
His flight mission was in the afternoon, in the morning, however, he was to cooperate with the mechanics to inspect his own vehicle.
Maintenance work can never be underestimated because carelessness could often cost lives.
With such mistakes, if luck wasn't on your side, you would only have the next life to make amends.
"Boss, you wanted to see me?"
When not flying, Chen Fei belonged to the mechanics team, and immediately rushed over upon hearing that Big Brother Xiao was looking for him.
The mechanic Xiao Ming, whose formidable figure was no less than that of Big Bear Squadron Leader, saw Chen Fei reporting in and took out a stack of blueprints to hand over.
"Yep! I'm planning to move the work area and the spare parts area out, build another shed behind Hangars 1 and 2, and this job will be yours to handle. The ground is already leveled, and all the metal materials are prepared; no rush, get it done in a month."
"A new hangar? No, it should be a maintenance hangar!"
Chen Fei took the stack of A3 paper and immediately started flipping through it.
It contained not only the floor plan of the new hangar but also isometric views and renderings. Big Brother Xiao had prepared everything meticulously, and even someone just taking over could grasp the details of various parts in a short time.
Originally, the mechanics worked together with the Genuine Fragrance Combat Flight Squadron in Hangar 1, apparently reserving future plans for an independent space, not smaller than the current Hangar 1, possibly even called Hangar 3, as labeled on the blueprint.
"If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me directly. One month, no problem, right?"
Xiao Ming entrusted this task entirely to Chen Fei, exactly because of his Metal Elemental Psychic Power; he could even evolve combat aircraft, let alone a steel-frame shed.
"No need for a month, at most one day!"
Chen Fei waved his hand and headed for the back door of Hangar 1, where the future Hangar 3 was reserved.
With his own power, he had evolved a much more complex Airship Battle Group in just a few days; this small amount of work hardly needed a month.
"One day? Isn't that too rushed?"
Xiao Ming was worried that Chen Fei might overexert himself.
"Just set up the framework, it will be done in a moment!"
As Chen Fei walked, countless tiny geometrical bodies surged out of him, and his figure quickly grew taller as the "Dragon King" Assault-Type Mobile Armor rapidly enveloped him.
"What is this?"
Human-shaped combat mobile armor?
The mechanic following Chen Fei was taken aback, estimating it to be over four meters tall, definitely not within the range of single soldier tactical armor anymore.
In just a few months' time, the things evolved from his Metal Elemental Psychic Power had become even more exaggerated.
With such inventions appearing within military contractors, could there be no problems?
Indeed, as mechanic Xiao Ming said, behind Hangars 1 and 2 there used to be a rocky beach filled with large and small, oddly shaped pale limestone.
Now, the brownish-yellow ground surface was out of sight, and the rocks were gone, replaced by a neatly cemented ground with reserved heads for water and electrical pipelines, waiting for follow-up construction to proceed.
Artificial Intelligence AI "Adam" read the mechanic's design plan completely, and at this moment, under the AR visual assistance effects, Chen Fei's vision displayed a three-dimensional architecture outlined in lines.
The "Dragon King" Assault-Type Mobile Armor stopped, reached out a hand, and the thick structural steel tube harshly jabbed into the cement floor, burrowing three meters into the ground amidst flying debris.
The need-to-be-embraced structural steel tube then extended 15 meters upward before changing position and methodically driving other steel tubes into the cement ground. The holes created needed additional cement poured in to fully integrate the structural steel tubes with the cement ground.
The "Dragon King" Assault-Type Mobile Armor walked back and forth for a while, setting all the structural steel tube columns in place, then activated the "Gravity (1)" Magic Array and "Fluid Vortex" Magic Array. The over four-meter-tall structure rose from the ground, supporting the top of the columns and evolving the load-bearing structure supports once more.
Similarly, not much time was exhausted, and the integrated steel structure framework of Hangar 3 was completely formed.
The remaining work was even simpler. Large sheets of corrugated steel directly covered the top, providing an immediately complete roof and walls that blocked wind and rain.
