Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 315: Problems
Chapter 315: Problems
Most people who said that they had a problem did not have a problem. After all, if you still had the energy to stop and say the words, then most likely your situation was not as bad as you made it out to be. A punctured tyre was not a problem. You simply had to pull over, replace it, and then you could be on your way again.
Another thing that was not a problem was a forgotten purse or wallet. The solution to that was simply going back.Getting it, and then doing the business that you had set out to do in the first place.
That was Cassandra’s take on things.
If it was something that could be easily rectified, then it did not count as a problem.
With all of that said, Cassandra Haven had a problem. In fact, it was not just one problem. It was problems plural. The first one was that her son was gone, which, given the fact that she had broken his heart by meddling in his love life, made sense.
But still, it was not something that she could easily resolve. She could not just snap her fingers and have him show up in front of her, miraculously no longer mad. So that was a problem. The second problem that Cassandra was having was none other than that two-headed snake, Sebastian.
He might have only been related to her through marriage. But even the title of brother-in-law felt like it was too much. She did not want to be associated with that thing in any way, shape or form, but unfortunately she was. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
And Sebastian was currently making all of the issues that Cassandra had worse. In her son’s absence, he had been chosen as the new CEO.
The idiots opting for tradition,’A Haven has led Haven group for as long as the company has existed’ They’d said.
Those who had not wanted to elect him being forced to do so. Threatened that the skeletons that they kept well hidden in their closets would be exposed. Something that had resulted in Sebastian getting just enough votes to finally have what he had always wanted.
The position of CEO of Haven Group was now his, and as expected it was a disaster.
Everything that Sebastian touched turned to ashes and dust. Haven Group was no different.
Issues that had been minor cracks in the beginning were now gaping holes. And to top it all off the man himself was blind to all of the damage that he was causing. As far as he was concerned he was helping things.
Sebastian had been in power for days, literally days. As in less than a week, but already the damage that he was doing was something else.
He was signing deals with people that Haven Group had avoided for decades. Making verbal faux pas out in public that left consumers feeling uneasy.
Production across the different sectors, that Haven group controlled was falling and their share prices were plummeting. People had even started quitting. High level people, the type who were usually too obsessed with their titles to think of leaving.
That was a major red flag.
Cassandra would have been doing everything in her power to make sure to kick Sebastian off the seat, and out into the dark corner he belonged in. But she was in no state to fight. So she did not even try.
Simply accepting the fact that she was too compromised to be helpful. Given her mental state, if she tried to throw her hat in the ring like many other people were urging her to do. Then she was more likely to add fuel to the fire rather than calming things. From the day her son had quit, Cassandra had been ignoring the calls from people asking her to intervene.
Not because she did not want to help. But because she did not want to make things worse. Sebastian being in power was a huge problem. Everyone was right to panic, but as far as Cassandra was concerned, Derek was an even bigger problem.
Everything that she had ever done, she had done for her son’s sake. But now she had gone and done something that had broken his heart to the point that he had been unable to force himself to stay. And Cassandra was very worried.
For him, and for herself.
Derek had told her not to look for him, and even if it was incredibly difficult for her. She was honouring that promise. But with each hour that dragged on, it became harder and harder to do.
All it would take would be one phone call. One phone call and her people would be out searching. They would be so discreet, that her son would not even notice that he was being followed.
But she knew that it would be wasted effort because if Derek ever came back. all it would take was for him to look at her one time and he would know that she had not honored her promise to not go looking for him.
She had already overstepped once, and the results of that were not anything that Cassandra cared to see again.
So despite having the power to find her son, she was holding herself back. It was incredibly difficult to do, and Cassandra would not lie, she was struggling with it. Which was why she was currently stress-baking.
The timer went off, signalling that the blueberry muffins, Derek’s favourite, were done. Cassandra took them out of the oven. She had just finished putting them on the cooling rack when one of the maids came into the kitchen.
"Mrs Haven, your son is waiting for you in the tea room of the east wing,"Cassandra nearly dropped her mittens, but she managed to catch them at the last second.
"Derek is here," She breathed, and the young woman nodded.
Not waiting for the rest of what the young woman was about to say. Cassandra took off her apron and brushed past her.She did not run, but it was a near thing.
Derek had come back.
He had really come back, and it had not even been a week. The last time Cassandra had heard from him, she’d been of the mind that it would be months, if not years, before she saw him again. Had he really forgiven her so fast? Walking at a brisk pace, Cassandra reached the tea room in the east wing in record time. A smile coming over her face when she caught sight of her son.
"Derek," She said, rushing forward and hugging him before she could think better of it. Stepping back, she ran her hands over his face.
He looked well, like he’d had a good night’s rest. And he no longer looked so devastatingly angry and lost. Good, good. Whatever it was that Derek had done while he had been away had clearly worked.
"I am so glad you came back. Thank you, thank you. Please forgive me, my son," Cassandra said, reaching up to hug him again. But this time, Derek gently held her hands and prevented her from doing so.
He looked back, and she followed his gaze. Seeing someone that Cassandra had not noticed, when she had walked in.
Emily Molson stared at Cassandra. Oh.
