Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 368: Celebration
Chapter 368: Celebration
FROM A LIFE OF LUXURY TO LIFE BEHIN BARS
HAVEN SENTENCED TO LIFE
HAVEN CEO TO SPEND LIFE IN PRISON
PRISON FOR HAVEN
After months of what had felt like never ending days in court. Sebastian Haven’s fate had finally been sealed. Life in prison. Emily could finally breathe easier, knowing that the man would not be coming for her, or anyone that she loved.
Their fathers were finally getting the justice that they had been robbed of for 20 years.
It was good news, great news, and Emily would not lie. She had shed real tears when Sebastian had been found guilty and when he had been sentenced.
But while the rest of the world seemed to want to stall on that particular issue, to keep going over the details of the case with a fine-tooth comb, Emily, Derek and their mothers were ready for it all to be over.
For everyone else, it was just some good gossip, the latest hot topic to talk about over brunch or during family dinners. But for them, it was not just a story. It was a reality that they had lived and suffered through. They had already gone through enough.
They wanted to be able to carry on with their lives without the shadow that was Sebastian looming over them.
But the rest of the world was not quite ready to let things go just yet. When Emily had left the Penthouse earlier that morning, she had done so with the intent of getting some work done, to complete an assignment that was due in a week.
She did not regret pursuing her Masters but Emily had to admit that it was challenging. Still she would have it no other way. But it seemed that if she wanted to finish the assignment before it was due. Then she would have to do so back at the penthouse, and not in the cafe that she was currently in, where it seemed that everyone, and their grandmother wanted to talk about the Haven saga. She’d already seen a few people glancing at her, their brows furrowed like they were trying to place her.
She did not want to stick around in case someone finally, put two and two together and realised who she was. So Emily packed up her things and made her way out of the cafe, stopping by the counter to get Derek some blueberry muffins. She knew for a fact that he would be having a hard day at work.
Since returning to his position as CEO, Derek had been working very hard to try and undo all of the damage that his uncle had done. Luckily he had been able to get a lot of people to come back. Hardworking people like Padma, the finance team, and many others.
And thanks to all of their hard work and dedication, Haven Group was almost back to full strength. It would be a matter of time before they were back on top, but they were steadily getting there.
Slowly but surely the two of them were moving forward as well. Building lives together, but also making sure that they were not too entwined. It was one of the things that had been stressed in therapy, which brought Emily to another topic.
Talking to somebody about everything that they had gone through had been incredibly difficult at first. And Emily had clammed up like nobody’s business, unwilling to just come out and talk about her problems with an absolute stranger.
But her therapist was unbelievably patient. And in a matter of weeks, he had gotten Emily to trust him enough to start sharing things. And once she had done that, everything had become easier.
With her working on herself and Derek dealing with his own issues, they had met halfway and discovered that the two of them now fit together even better than they used to in the past.
The sleep thing was taking a while, but slowly but surely they were getting there.
So far they were going two nights out of the week not sharing a bed, with Emily sleeping in one room of the penthouse and Derek in another. The longest that either of them had gone, without waking while sleeping away from each other was four hours. A record for both of them.
It showed that they were getting better, something that helped instead of hindering. Now when they shared a bed, they did not do so out of desperation. It was a huge weight off both their shoulders to know that they could now survive without each other. That they were together because they wanted to, because they enjoyed each other’s company.
Emily was thinking on that as she finally made her way to the penthouse and let herself in, walking inside and placing Derek’s surprise muffins on the counter.
Making her way upstairs, Emily took a quick shower and then came back out.
Her intent had been to immediately start on making both of them something to eat, but she found herself pausing by her bedside table.
Picking up the picture of them on their very first date and holding it close. It was not the only picture of the two of them together anymore, but it would always remain her favourite.
Hearing noise downstairs, she put the puzzle photo down and rushed to meet Derek. Smiling when she saw him by the kitchen counter, already digging into the muffins, a big smile on his face.
"Shouldn’t you wait to be offered food before you eat it?"
He startled at the sound of her voice, opening his eyes and looking over to the foot of the stairs where she was standing.
Wiping guiltily at the crumbs around his mouth, Derek made his way towards her.
" Would you accept a gift in apology?" His smirk was playful but there was also a worried glimmer in his eyes. Emily frowned. Why was he nervous? Surely he knew that she was kidding.
That she was not really upset that he had begun eating the muffins without her. Reaching into his pocket, Derek pulled out a rectangular black box and Emily’s smile turned into a wide grin.
"You found it!" The box was from an upmarket fabric store that Emily had found. It was pricey but worth it. The last time that they had been there, Emily had wanted thread a particular shade of red. But they’d not had it in stock. But it seemed that Derek had gone back to check and had found it available. Hugging him tightly in thanks, Emily went to put the thread away, but Derek stopped her.
"Aren’t you going to open it?" He asked. And Emily wanted to shrug, to say that she would get done with dinner first. But something in the way he was looking at her made her pause. Suddenly feeling nervous herself.
Emily opened the case and very nearly dropped it. The thread was there as promised.
But there was something else in it.
A gleaming white band right next to it. One that she could tell just by looking that it would fit perfectly around her finger.
Oh...a lump formed in Emily’s throat, her eyes stinging. Was this...
" I wish I could kneel to ask you properly, but even after all these months my leg is still bothering me. I could not wait another moment for something as silly as a leg.
Emily Molson, will you marry me?"
His green eyes locked on hers, waiting for an answer. This time Emily really did drop the box, the ring clattering on the floor, but neither of them noticed. They were too busy kissing.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!..." Emily found herself chanting when they broke apart. freewebnoveℓ.com
Joy turning her wild, Emily threw herself at him, and started kissing him again. One arm around his neck and the other already undoing his belt. They were engaged! A proper celebration was in order.
