Chapter 215 The gate resonates

Sylvia's eyes widened in shock and she quickly started sending out several balls of fire, trying to carve a way out for herself.

The bats were strong and sturdy, unlike the beasts she encountered before. They did not take too much damage from the fire attacks and chased after her.

Sylvia tried her best to send out several more attacks, and finally wounded one of the bat's wings. The creature wailed and dropped dead.

But there were more bats still after her. As she was trying to evade them and attack them, suddenly her gaze fell on the stone gate which was now mysteriously glowing.

There was a bright swirl of multicolored light in the middle of the gate.

Sylvia had no idea what this was. What was happening here?

She unleashed a few more attacks and injured another bat which dropped flat on the ground and died.

But with that, her mana was running low.

Or rather all the mana in the air seemed to be flowing towards the mysteriously glowing gate and none was left for her.

Unable to recover her mana reserves, Sylvia had no other choice. She needed to land on the ground.

However, the second she did that she would immediately become a sitting duck for the bats.

Sylvia clenched her fists and dived down onto the ground. She had no other choice. She somehow needed to fight with these bats... without magic this time.

She had a small dagger that she used to attack one of the bats but just after the first attack, the weapon got stuck in the bat's sturdy hide.

She couldn't take it out. The others as well swooped down, all the bats coming towards her and now she was completely defenseless.

She did not have mana and also she did not have weapons.

To make matters worse, the gate that was glowing brightly, suddenly started emitting shrill screeching noises.

Something like a vibration came out from the gate.

The next instant, loud noises of beasts in the distance echoed. It was as if every beast in the vicinity was responding to this loud vibration from the glowing gate.

Sylvia was at her wit's end. She knew that things were doing to be difficult but what was this. She couldn't even understand what was going on.

The bats landed on the ground one after the other and surrounded her and because of the vibrations from the gate, more beasts also started coming towards their location.

Everything happened in a second.

One moment she was in a clearing with only a deserted stone gate but the next moment, the entire place was crawling with beasts.

At least if she had mana she could have escaped, but now she had nothing. How was she supposed to run away in the midst of this beast horde?

All sorts of beasts in various shapes and sizes were coming from the shadows. They were all clearly attracted to the gate.

But they had a weird madness and frenzy in their eyes as if they were determined to destroy everything in their path.

Sylvia was completely surrounded and this time it was not by a handful of bats. She was surrounded by countless beasts, all growling and roaring in madness.

There was no way she could escape from this. She needed to fight her way out or she needed to... fly.

"Please. Come out. Come out." She gritted her teeth and tried to transform. Her body had failed her so many times before, but now... she needed it to work.

If it fails her this time too... she would only die.

"Please. Please. Just this once." She shouted at the top of her lungs, but nothing was happening.

The bat arrived in front of her and the creature swung its claws, wanting to rip her apart into shreds.

This was it. Sylvia closed her eyes tightly shut, and raised her thin tender hands to block the attack.

She fully expected to be mangled, preparing herself for the pain that was about to come.

And the next second...

CLANG!

A loud metallic noise resounded amidst the cacophony of beastial growls and roars.

Sylvia flashed her eyes open in shock, only to see that her arms were covered in dazzling silver scales. Her arms, her body, everything from her neck down was covered in scales.

She was still human but she looked like she wore some sort of silver body armor. She even had huge claws that the bat could not compare to.

Sylvia did not know how she managed to do this or what was happening but it was clear to her that this was her only lifeline at the moment.

She did not think about anything and started fighting back. She had never done hand to hand combat before and she did not care.

It was simply an instinctive fight for survival. She needed to fight right here and right now to live or else she was dead. It was as simple as that.

She madly swung her claws around, attacking the bat in front of her, and moved her body to evade when the beast attacked her back.

She was not sure how this was going to go and what the end result was going to be. She did not know if she was going to leave here alive.

But once she started moving, she did not care about these things. For some reason, moving her body and fighting with these beasts felt easy.

It was as easy as taking in a breath of air. It was as if she had been doing this for her whole life.

She could see every blow that was aimed at her in slow motion. She could easily evade them.

And when she fought back, her speed and agility were far superior to the other beasts. They were not able to block her attack.

Surprisingly, just like her, the other beasts were also not able to use magic. It looked like the mysterious glowing gate was absorbing every wisp of mana in the air.

So because of this, the battle turned into a bloody rumble.
