Solo Cultivation in The Apocalypse-Chapter 297 Counter
Hitori was surprised, but he kept it under control. Akira was bringing down his wand and cast a spell, so he decided to do the same.
At first– he wondered if Akira was just making this to scare Tengoku, but when he saw him ready to fire a spell, Hitori thought, Why should I waste this chance? So he raised his wand too.
The declaration of being able to attack from inside the shield caused havoc on the enemy side. Tengoku slid into the crowd and disappeared like a ninja. He told his men to start firing.
They cocked their guns, held them in front of them, and waited for the last-second thud on the door. They opened fire on Hitori and Akira.
That sudden burst startled Hitori. He closed his eyes, covered his ears, and stepped away from the veranda railing. Akira was not different. That firing sound was annoying.
They moved their assault rifle around the veranda but could not hurt anyone. Hitori saw the flash in their guns due to the fiction.
His heart was pounding, he could feel the feeling of his heart against his chest, trying to get out, but somehow held inside. The noise had shaken Hitori from inside out and the bullets clashing against an invisible shield were too scary to look at.
Every time they fired (they actually never stopped firing), he observed the pressure the high-caliber bullets were exerting on the shield. The shield looked like just one more round and it will be shattered into pieces like glasses.
That thought scared HItori. He was standing in the open, Tengoku was in front of him, and the gunmen were letting everything out– and he was standing with nothing but a wand, out in the open.
The moment the shield falls, he will be filled with holes, and he would not be able to even try firing a spell– was that even fair?
The firing and the scare were enough for Hitori to make him release a spell in the dark at the men in black. He raised his wand with his eyes closed and aimed at nothing.
Then he gave him a swing. "Freeze-Dry!"
He kept his eyes close, waiting for the voices and gunshots to fade, but they never did. He released his frown slowly, then opened his eyes
He could still see the glimmering sparks of gunpowder and bullets, and of course, The irritating noise of gunshots continued tearing his eardrum.
Hitori clicked his tongue, he was already under pressure and now this caused him to snap at Akira. "Hey! What the heck?!"
Akira opened his eyes and glanced at Hitori. He bobbed his head in a what-is-it gesture. Hitori would have to shout for his voice to reach Akira, so he held his wand in front of him and clenched it.
Hitori gave the wand a good shake, the pointed it at the shield. Akira's frown dropped, he understood the meaning of Hitori's gestures.
He shrugged and said, "Did you really think I was serious? It was only to scare that bastard. A shield is a shield, you will have to break through it to reach the other side."
Hitori felt like inserting his wand down Akira's throat. He had his hopes up, but somewhere in his heart, he knew it was too easy to be true. 𝙛𝐫e𝚎wℯ𝗯𝒏𝗼ѵ𝙚l.𝒄o𝚖
How do I stop them? Hitori wondered. The men showed no sign of stopping or even slowing down. Wait, if Akira lured them to open fire, maybe I can lure them to stop it.
A smile spread over his face. Hitori put the legendary wand into the loop on his left side. He turned to Akira and said, "What do you mean we can not attack from this side?"
Akira frowned again, with his hands over his ears. "It means what it means! It was a lie, a freaking lie. Karma always hits you hard." Akira glanced at him and frowned harder when he saw Hitori smiling.
Hitori raised his voice this time, hopefully, it was getting through the beasts who were firing without thinking. "YOU LIED?! WE CAN NOT HARM THEM FROM THIS SIDE? YOU FREAKING LIED!"
Akira did not get the point of shouting with a smile on. From his shout, Hitori sounded angry; but from the smile on his face, he looked pleased. "Hell, if you are angry, just show me you are. Do not creep me out," he muttered under his breath.
Why did Hitori have to shout that hard? Akira would have gotten the point even if he had whispered it into his ear.
"Yes! Yes, and yes! Why do you have to shout at me? I did not imagine things would take such a shift."
Hitori glanced at the men. He saw the hesitation on the first few faces. They had heard the conversation but were still firing. Hitori's smile faded. Of course, he thought, they would not stop unless he orders them to.
Hitori lifted his wand and stepped forward. He swung it and fired an icicle spear. The faces of the men on the front lines looked like the faces of men ready to die.
The spear clashed against the invisible shield and was demolished. It shattered into pieces and the ice melted due to the summer heat in an instant.
Hitori turned to Akira, who was above the annoying gunshots. "Stop doing that! You will only make things harder for Eya-nee."
The realization hit him hard– he never thought about the impact of his attacks. If she was holding the incoming attacks, what if he added his attacks from inside?
He gulped, staring at the shield. The next moment I attack might be my last one.
Tengoku's voice broke through the firings. "Halt!" he shouted and the men stopped– as if they were willing to stop, but were waiting for Tengoku's order.
Hitori bit his lips– his plan worked– and he saw Tengoku's katana resting on his shoulders.
Hitori was focused on Tengoku and what he might say next, but when he heard the main door click, he forgot that he had forgotten about the thuds from inside.
Akira and Hitori turned their heads to the main door and saw it opening inside. Hitori's mouth dropped open as Kyoryu stepped out onto the veranda.
Before looking at anyone, Kyoryu closed the door. He turned to glance at the scenery in front of him. Hitori saw the door fall out of its frame and land inside.
Kyoryu shared the glance and shrugged. "It was already damaged pretty bad," he said.
Hitori blinked, still staring at Kyoryu.
