Solo Cultivation in The Apocalypse-Chapter 333 Exposition
Chapter 333 Exposition
Hitori was shaken from hearing the news about some Cultivation Realm’s Empire was haunting him to kill him in the end. And for that, he was using the body of an innocent person, well, Ningen was at least a kind person.
He needed something or someone to pull himself out of the new trouble thrown at him, so he decided to visit Akemi and let her in on the current events, then receive some sympathy in return.
No, he was not craving sympathy from an elder girl. Some sides of the corridors were booming with kids, and some corridors did not show a sign of even a single person.
The corridor Hitori was on was one of the later corridors. As he walked, he did not see even a single person anywhere around him. Perhaps, he thought, Atama had created a special corridor to keep everyone out and Akemi safe.
His eye stale on the doors on the side and in front of him. Why would he create these many rooms just for one person? Because he was planning to create a small infirmary in this section.
Hitori looked for Akemi’s room number. He saw that door at the end of the corridor, on the right side. What would she be doing? He wondered. How will she react when I tell her I let Tengoku go? He continued wondering.
If anyone had crossed the hallway, they would have seen how stupid Hitori looked standing in front of someone’s room without knowing or without any business-like expressions.
Since no one passed, Hitori was safe and he could take as much time as possible to knock on the door. After thinking for another while, he finally lifted his hand and knocked on the door.
“Identity yourself, please,” Akemi asked. She
He realized she could not recognize his voice. So he joked, “Just how many people come to your room?”
No response from her. He thought he had messed up, so he opened his mouth to apologize when the door clicked. He stepped back and watched the door slide to the side.
He looked at Akemi with a surprised expression, which soon turned into a smile on his face. It took her a moment, but then she started smiling too.
Would she say anything if I step in? He thought and then found himself stepping inside the room. Akemi closed the door behind him and waited for Hitori to come up to her.
He saw she was just the same as he had last seen her. She had not moved, her looks were not changed, and that smile…
What changed was the thin sheet of cover she was holding around her chest, and her clothes were changed (now she was wearing a shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing her cheekbones and a little of that cleavage).
Maybe her bed sheet was changed and, what does he sees, she has now tied her open hair into a bun on the top of her head. Hitori liked the long hair though. And… he did not want this to be true, perhaps her anger has changed in the wrong or right way.
“Took you long enough, eh? How are you, Hitori?” she asked with a grin forming on her face.
Hitori glanced around the room, he grabbed the chair from the other corner, then placed it in front of Akemi.
He leaned forward, looked into her eyes (this made him feel something different), and said, “Just fine. How are you doing? Does not look like you were attacked,” he said.
Well, she was neat, clean, and tidy. No way she was fighting some monster and staying this tidy and cheerful.
“But you sure look like you were almost eaten by some monster,” she said and giggled.
Hitori dropped his head. Well, yes, Akemi-san, I was almost eaten by a monster. Then instead of killing that monster, I watched it get away.
Akemi’s giggling stopped abruptly. “What is the update, Hitori? Any recent activities, active, attack, or a new murder?”
Hitori sighed, then looked at Akemi. “We attacked Onogi, then Tengoku attacked us. Although Tengoku says someone else has sent him, I believe it is Onogi; his attacks are getting more personal and out of control.”
“What do you mean by out of control? I get that personal part but—”
He did not let her finish. “Onogi killed Reon’s brother.”
Akemi gasped. “R-Reon the scientist girl?”f𝚛e𝗲𝔀e𝚋𝑛o𝘃𝒆𝗹.c𝗼𝒎
Hitori nodded. Yeah, your scientist girl, her brother. He killed her brother. He was not even involved in this shit, then why did he? If he can not kill us, he will kill our relatives who are not even involved in this.
“What did he do?”
“Something worse than he did to Kamiya… I can not explain it,” Hitori said. He cupped his cheeks in his hands and stared at Akemi. “I am worried about her family… they are nice people, from what Reon has told me.”
“Are they safe?” she asked and Hitori nodded. “What are you planning to do next?”
“Here we are,” he said as he rose to his feet, “in the academy– the only safe place for us right now. I just hope this ends and we can go back to how our lives used to be.”
On that, Akemi chuckled. “You can not, Hitori. Shit just does not work like that. See how fucked my life is right now. Even if I get better, it would not be the same. I lost Kamiya and now I have to talk with someone ‘funny’ even who visits me sometimes.”
“I am trying to keep you updated about our situation. And this is the best I can do. We can not stay more than a day in Academy. We will spend the night here, then we will leave.”
“Leave to where?” she asked with a dull smile on her face.
Hitori looked past her, at the window in the wall behind her. He could see the Forbidden Forest from that view. “To finish what was started.”
“Can you not just stay here and wait for them to attack?”
Hitori looked down at her. You do not know about that, Akemi-san, he thought. But then realized he had not told her about the battle either. “I want to tell you something. What we lost and what we gained after yesterday’s battle.”
“A-A battle?” she chuckled. “How many men were with him?”
Hitori pulled the chair closer to Akemi’s bed, then sat. “Enough to call this a battle.”
