Sons of a devil-Chapter 59: blood
Chapter 59 - blood
The air split like old paper as the sky cracked open, revealing the full form of their father—Azariel, the Hellborne King. His eyes glowed like molten suns, staring down at his sons with both fury and twisted affection.
"Cain. Leo. Eren," he said, his voice echoing across the jagged cliffs and trembling ground. "Come home, my children. The blood calls for you."
Cain stepped forward, Selene's fingers slipping reluctantly from his. She looked at him with unspoken fear, but he gave her a small nod. His voice was low, certain.
"We already have a home. And it's not with you."
Azariel tilted his head, almost amused. "You say that as though I didn't create the very fire that burns in your veins."
Eren scoffed. "Yeah, well—Leo burned down our bathroom with that fire, so thanks for nothing."
"Shut up, Eren," Leo muttered, but the tension in his shoulders eased slightly.
Azariel raised a hand, summoning pillars of black flame that erupted in front of them. A ring of demons began to crawl from the shadows—grotesque, snarling creatures, each one stitched together with human and beastly parts.
Selene stood behind Cain now, holding her dagger. She was still weakened from the last fight, but her spirit hadn't dimmed.
"We do this together," Leo said, drawing both of his curved blades. The silver edges shimmered with ancestral energy—his own twist on their hellish inheritance.
Cain nodded. "No hesitation."
Eren cracked his neck. "No mercy."
And then, everything erupted into chaos.
Cain charged straight toward Azariel, flames bursting around him like a comet. Their father smiled, as though proud. Their swords clashed—Cain's burning blade against Azariel's void-forged axe. Each strike sent shockwaves through the air.
Meanwhile, Leo danced through the horde of demons, his blades slicing through flesh and shadow. Blood sprayed across his face, but he kept moving—graceful and ruthless.
Eren fought with reckless abandon, his fists glowing with raw fire as he punched through a beast's chest. "I'm starting to enjoy this too much!" he yelled, laughing breathlessly.
Selene stayed back, using the shadows to her advantage. She sliced through two demons that tried to ambush Cain, protecting his back without needing a single word.
But Azariel was relentless.
"You were meant to rule by my side, Cain," Azariel growled, forcing him to his knees. "Your power is wasted on humanity. On love. On her."
He pointed toward Selene, and Cain's rage ignited.
"You don't speak her name," Cain snapped, driving his blade into his father's thigh. Azariel roared and hurled him back into a rock face. The pain exploded in Cain's side, but he forced himself up.
"You want me to rule hell?" he spat blood. "Then I'll start by dethroning you."

As Azariel raised his axe for the final blow, Leo jumped in front of Cain, crossing his swords and catching the strike mid-air.
"You really don't get it, do you?" Leo snarled. "We're not yours anymore."
A shadow demon lunged toward Selene from behind, but Eren grabbed it mid-air, burning it to ash with a grin. "You're welcome, sunshine!"
Selene rolled her eyes, then smiled despite herself. "Show-off."
But then—it happened.
Azariel let out a scream, not of pain, but rage. "ENOUGH."
He slammed the butt of his axe into the ground. The earth cracked, fire splitting upward like a volcano's roar. A tremor knocked everyone back.
Selene was flung hard against the ground, coughing. Cain, dazed and bleeding, tried to reach for her, but couldn't get up in time.
Azariel loomed over her now.
"You are his weakness," he hissed.
Selene looked up, defiant. "And his strength."
Cain's body lit up—brighter than it ever had. Flames roared around him, shaped like wings, eyes glowing like the sun itself. He screamed Selene's name—and the earth obeyed.
He launched himself forward, faster than light, flames consuming everything in his path.
Azariel turned, too late.
Cain's blade tore through his chest, straight through his black heart.
Azariel gasped, blood pouring down his chin. His body crumbled into smoke and flame, disintegrating into the very ashes from which he once rose.
Silence fell.
The demons scattered, their bond to the King broken.
Cain dropped to his knees beside Selene, gathering her into his arms.
"I thought I lost you," he whispered.
Selene smiled, weak but alive. "I told you. Always next to you."
Eren dropped to the ground beside them, panting. "Okay, can we all agree that was the most traumatizing family reunion ever?"
Leo laughed, dropping his swords. "Definitely skipping the next one."
Cain leaned his forehead against Selene's. The fire in him was calmer now, but his heart burned with new purpose.
"We're free," he said softly.
Selene nodded. "Now let's live like it."
