Chapter 936: So I’m a Tycoon?

Staring at the ring on his hand, Tang San could hardly believe it. If this many amethystine coins were released all at once, wouldn’t they cause massive deflation?

“Clan Leader, there’s no need for you to hold back,” the Grand Elder said earnestly. “Our Blue Gold Tree clan has little use for money. But you... You’re an unprecedented existence in our clan’s history. If we can help you obtain a place among the Emperors just by buying a couple of divine artifacts, then even if we spend everything, it will be worth it. Completely worth it. As for Blue Gold Fruits, since you’ve asked, we’ve brought about a thousand of them with us. I’ve asked the others to sort and prepare them for delivery to you.”

Tang San looked at the Grand Elder, his mouth twitching slightly. He even suspected that if they handed all this wealth to the Ancestral Court directly, they could probably outright buy an Emperor’s seat and be done with all the tournament bullshit. He was certain that even among all the living Emperors, none had ever seen this many amethystine coins in one place, much less owned them.

The fake leader of the Blue Gold Tree clan had somehow become... a tycoon.

Though he was confident in his strength, this marriage tournament was no joke. It was essentially a war for imperial succession involving all the strongest eleventh-tier powerhouses of the Daemon Continent. Everyone would be risking their lives, and though he easily had the strength to win, he couldn’t guarantee there would be no mishaps and he wouldn’t be forced to reveal something he shouldn’t. Now, with so much financial support, he figured that he could solve the problem in the most simple way: by throwing money at it. With this fortune, he had a solid chance of pulling his plan off smoothly.

As for Jin Miaosen, that naïve little sister of his clearly had no idea the clan was sitting on such a massive hoard. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone out trying to peddle Blue Gold Fruits on the street. The elders who had “agreed” with her that they had to sell everything were probably laughing their bark off.

She truly was clueless about the world, but the Blue Gold Tree clan itself was anything but foolish. With a lineage so ancient, they were bound to have their share of shrewd minds. Even if they weren’t warriors, their talent for hoarding money was nothing short of titanic.

It made sense. The Blue Gold Tree clan essentially controlled one of the most precious and exclusive resources on the entire continent: life itself. If they couldn’t make a fortune, who could? While they lacked combat strength, they had the Ancestral Tree guarding their city. That was the ultimate trump card. Tang San now wondered if the real reason they never left the inner city of Skytree wasn’t self-preservation, but rather that they were sitting on too much wealth to risk losing it.

He realized now he’d seriously underestimated the Blue Gold Tree clan. Their financial reserves warranted a whole new level of respect.

As Tang San lovingly caressed the ring on his finger, the Grand Elder looked at him with eager eyes. “Clan Leader, now that we have this wealth behind us, do you think you can secure a spot among the Emperors?”

Tang San replied, “I don’t know the rules of the tournament yet, so I can’t say for sure. But those coming to compete are all well-prepared, and they all thirst for the throne. Still, I should have a decent chance.”

The Grand Elder’s eyes lit up. “Then you must give it your all! If you succeed, the Blue Gold Tree clan’s status will soar overnight. Combined with your past feat of slaying an Emperor, no one would dare target us again. We could regain our dominance over the life-attribute treasure trade in no time. I’ve been thinking about your proposal for us to take a neutral position, and honestly, I think it’s brilliant. If we only serve the Solstice Empire, we’ll lose access to the Empyrean Dominion’s markets. Middlemen will eat up all the profits. But if we establish a neutral stance and station members in every major city, then every power who benefits from us will want more. That will also drive up the price of Blue Gold Fruits and everything else we offer.”

Tang San stared at him in astonishment. Uh... I have to say... I really misjudged you, guys. So this was the real innate talent of the Blue Gold Tree clan?

He couldn’t help but feel a bit speechless. This discussion had certainly opened his eyes to a whole new side of his people.

“Grand Elder,” he said, “please organize the other elders to collect intel on the upcoming auction. Let’s be fully prepared. The more we know, the better our chances of winning.”

“Understood! We’ll get as much information as we can. Even if we have to burn through a mountain of coins, we’ll help you claim one of those three spots,” the Grand Elder said with great enthusiasm.

That confidence wasn’t based on Jin Miaolin’s personal strength; instead, it was rooted in absolute faith in the clan’s bottomless purse. In the Grand Elder’s eyes, if they could just outfit Tang San with enough divine gear, his unparalleled life energy would just carry him through.

Of course, as someone who had no real combat abilities and experience, he also had no real concept of what determined true battle power, but Tang San was not about to ruin his eagerness.

At least he’s got a beautiful vision, I suppose.

After seeing the elders out, Tang San sat there playing with the space ring. Even someone as mentally disciplined as he couldn’t help but repeatedly scan the sea of amethystine coins inside and marvel at the hoard.

He had always thought the Aetherhorn Merchant Association was wealthy, but now? Compared to the Blue Gold Tree clan’s pirate ship, theirs was a paper boat floating in a puddle. No wonder so many clans and cities had tried to capture and exploit the Blue Gold Tree clan; their life resources were simply too rare and too valuable.

Since Mei Gongzi hadn’t arrived yet, Tang San stayed in his quarters at Council Mountain to continue training. But after three days passed with no sign of her, he started to grow restless. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Given the space transmission abilities of the Peacock Demon clan and the teleportation arrays he had already prepared, she should have been able to arrive within two transmissions. So why had it already been three days without a word from her?

He was so preoccupied with worry that he couldn’t even focus on his cultivation.

Meanwhile, the elders had gathered extensive information about the upcoming auction, and as it turned out, the scale of the event was staggering. It would feature over ten divine artifacts, and not the basic kind that Tang San and Mei Gongzi had won at the Ancestral Court Elite Competition. These were proper high-grade divine artifacts, top-tier items whose owners remained a mystery. The fact that they would appear in this auction meant one thing: it was going to be historic. Countless hopefuls were sharpening their blades, eager to outbid their rivals for the best pieces of gear.

The Ancestral Court had grown even more crowded. Every hotel was completely booked. Rooms were impossible to find. The whole city seemed to be burning with fervor.

On the fourth day, when Mei Gongzi still hadn’t shown up, Tang San finally couldn’t take it anymore. He quietly left the Council Mountain and returned to the top floor of the White Tiger Grand Hotel.

His note was still where he had left it. Mei Gongzi had clearly not arrived.

Focusing inward, Tang San gently tapped the projection of the Asura Sword that resided within his sea of consciousness. This was his best way to confirm her safety. As long as the sword’s projection didn’t act up, it meant Mei Gongzi was likely unharmed.

Moments later, the projection sent back a response. A wave of sword intent rippled outward, clear and without any distortions. All was well.

Tang San finally exhaled a breath of relief. Though this communication was limited, it was enough to let him calm down. At least she was safe. But when would she arrive?

Leaving the White Tiger Grand Hotel, he noticed the night had already fallen, and the city was absolutely booming. The word “bustling” was simply inadequate to describe it. The streets were packed to the point where there was barely space to stand.

The Ancestral Court hadn’t limited entry either. As long as one belonged to the nobility, they could attend. Tang San was starting to wonder if every noble of every race across the entire Daemon Continent had come to the capital. The place was a madhouse.
