Souls Online: Mythic Ascension-Chapter 194: Logged Out for Maintenance
Chapter 194: Logged Out for Maintenance
Rachel was the first one to speak.
"I know my family has met with the Mayor before but I didn’t know he had a daughter..."
Crystal grimaced in response. She gripped one of her arms as she replied
"Yeah...They are very prideful and inflexible people..I am the product of a ’youthful indiscretion’... At least that’s what they told me. Anyways! Enough about that. What are we going to do when we log out?"
Adam’s expression crumpled as he couldn’t help but feel a sense of companionship with Crystal. Like him, she was isolated despite having a family who shared her blood. He threw a glance at the others and noticed looks of sympathy and pity.
That is not what anybody in her situation would want. Pity and sympathy only add to the pain...She needs understanding.
Adam simply nodded his head in Crystal’s direction before he followed up
"How about we go to a gym or something and do a test to see what our limits are in the real world. I don’t think we really had a chance to see what our real bodies could do. Let’s do that before we go sign up for whatever the government is trying to do to help us."
Luna perked up at his suggestion and nodded her head in an almost too eager fashion while Lily looked at him as if she just swallowed a fly.
"Yeah I think that’s a good idea. I mean I knew I threw that table before pretty easily–"
"Pretty easily?! Girl you threw that table at me like you were pitching a fastball! You’re already freakishly strong!"
Rachel complained immediately when Luna tried to downplay one of her most traumatic events in recent memory.
"Throwing tables? Are you talking about some sort of metaphorical table or something?"
Crystal asked in a defeated tone, feeling like she already knew the answer to her question.
Adam sighed and replied
"Nope. A literal table. Chucked it with one hand."
Lily leaned back with a small laugh, raising a hand like she was painting a picture in the air.
"It wasn’t even like a dramatic lift either. She just picked it up and launched it. I swear, the thing spun three times before it nearly decapitated Rachel."
Rachel shuddered at the memory.
"It grazed my ear! I heard it whistle!"
Luna puffed her cheeks in mild indignation.
"Well in my defence, you did throw a needle or something at Leo! I was just doing my duty as a big sister to protect her little brother!"
Lily smirked and added with a lazy wave of her hand.
"Honestly, it was impressive. The needle throw. The table toss. The chaos. All of it."
Rachel turned to her.
"You’re not helping."
Crystal looked between them in disbelief.
"Wait. Wait. She actually threw a needle at Leo’s head and he caught it? And then Luna launched a table in response?"
Adam gave a tired nod.
"Yes. Welcome to our version of normal."
Aria leaned on the table, smiling faintly.
"Honestly, you get used to it."
Crystal blinked.
"I’m not sure I want to."
Leo rested his chin on one hand and muttered under his breath.
"Next time she throws something, I’m throwing her."
Rachel grinned.
"Onto a bed?"
Nyx grinned, lips curling with mischief.
"Onto a bed?"
Leo froze. His ears twitched as his face turned red in an instant.
"Wh–what? No! That’s not what I meant!"
Luna’s chair scraped slightly as she sat up straighter, her gaze sharpening into a glare aimed squarely at Nyx.
Lily frowned, her tail twitching behind her as she leaned forward, clearly not amused.
Sonata blinked once, calmly sipping her drink before placing it down and giving Rachel a disapproving glance.
"Nyx, seriously?" Sonata said, her tone even.
"You can’t just throw that out there,"
Adam added, voice flat with irritation.
"We’re in public."
Rachel gave a nonchalant shrug.
"I just said what we were all thinking."
"No. You were thinking that,"
Luna replied bluntly.
"The rest of us have common sense."
Adam threw a dumbfounded look Luna’s way. They did?!
Leo, still flustered, buried his face in his hands.
"Can we not do this? Please?"
Nyx leaned back and crossed her arms with a sly smile.
"Hey, I’m just appreciating the view."
"You’re going to appreciate the floor if you keep talking,"
Luna muttered, still glaring.
"What I said before still stands Bunny~! If you wanna join Cutie and I for some fun, you are more than welcome to join us~!
Leo groaned into his palms as the harassment continued with his sister now being the focus. .
"I hate everything."
Crystal looked between them all with wide eyes.
"This is what your group is like all the time?"
Adam gave a tired nod.
"Pretty much."
Crystal turned to Sonata.
"Is it too late to back out?"
Sonata gave her a faint smile.
"Definitely too late."
Leo peeked up from his hands.
"Remind me again why I hang out with you people?"
Rachel flashed a grin.
"Because you love me."
Leo stared at her in stunned silence before growling
"You need to go see a doctor for your head. Your delusions are getting stronger!."
Rachel chuckled.
"Well that’s rude~!"
