Souls Online: Mythic Ascension-Chapter 242: Daddy Form?
Chapter 242: Daddy Form?
Leo said nothing at first. Just opened it.
Then he frowned at what he saw.
Instead of a typical skill description, the screen was filled with garbled code and unreadable symbols. Static lines flickered across his interface. For a moment, the air around him shimmered, like something unseen was peeling through a veil.
Penny stepped closer. "Uh... that normal?"
"Not even a little," Leo muttered.
Suddenly, the glitching text collapsed into a single symbol. A zodiac wheel appeared before his eyes, floating in midair like a projection. Each segment of the wheel bore a familiar crest. Dragon. Monkey. Rooster. Snake. Tiger. Rabbit.
The Rabbit icon was greyed out, pulsing softly with a dull white light. A faint message hovered above it: Element Unlocked: Beast.
The others were silent. Waiting.
Without warning, the wheel began to spin.
The room filled with a low humming sound, and threads of elemental energy laced the air. Wind, fire, shadow, and other energies twisted into streams that circled around the roulette.
Everyone stepped back as the glow intensified.
Greg squinted at the swirling magic. "Okay, that looks way cooler than what I got."
"What’s it doing?" Aria asked.
"Choosing," Leo answered. He didn’t know how but he knew this was related to Element Conversion somehow.
The wheel slowed.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
The pointer jerked once. Then stopped.
A green-and-violet segment lit up.
The crest of the Snake shone bright.
A new screen opened, clean and focused, written in bold text across the top.
Elemental Conversion: Poison has been unlocked.
Player Leo may Convert to the Poison Element at any time with no cost.
Elemental Conversion Forms Unlocked: Beast, Poison.
Penny leaned in, squinting at the screen still floating in front of Leo. "Forms? Plural? You’ve got more than one now?"
Leo didn’t answer. His gaze stayed on the message as if ignoring the question would make it go away.
Aria tilted her head slightly. "Is this like your Daddy Form?"
The words landed with a crash.
Leo’s head snapped toward her so fast it was a miracle he didn’t strain something. "Excuse me?"
Greg choked on air.
Penny’s jaw dropped. "Wait. What did you just call it?"
Crystal blinked once, her tone flat. "I must have misheard that."
Aria placed a hand to her cheek, her voice calm. "You know. The form from before. When you got taller. Hair longer. Voice deeper. The one you used during the Dungeon Boss fight. It felt... authoritative."
Leo looked like his soul was leaving his body. "It is not called that."
"But that’s what Lily called it,no? I have to admit it fits," Aria said with a small, innocent smile. "It had a very commanding presence."
Greg had completely lost it. He was wheezing as he slapped his leg. "Oh my god. Sonata! You just made my day! I wanna see this so-called Daddy Form~!"
Penny staggered back like she’d been blessed. "I didn’t even know I needed that phrase in my life until right now."
Leo groaned and rubbed the back of his neck. "I swear, I’m never going to live that down."
Aria laughed softly. "You should own it. It suits you."
Greg wiped tears from his eyes. "Honestly, it’s perfect. ’Daddy Form.’ That’s going to stick."
Crystal shook her head, smirking. "I can’t believe we’re arguing over what to call Leo’s transformation instead of focusing on the fact he just unlocked poison."
Penny, still wide-eyed, nodded. "Yeah, seriously. Poison Element. That’s a big deal."
Leo folded his arms and glanced at the glowing symbol on the screen. "Let’s just focus on what it actually does before the jokes get any worse."
Aria gave him a playful wink. "Fair enough, Daddy~!"
Leo glared with annoyance at Aria. Where had the innocent girl gone? Why had the corruption of Rachel and Lily affected her so strongly!
Penny leaned in again, her eyes practically sparkling. "Okay but now I really want to see the Poison one. Come on, just a little peek."
Leo didn’t look at her. "No."
"But what if it’s, like... super edgy and cool? Or creepy and dramatic? It might even outdo the Daddy Form."
Leo’s eye twitched. "I am not showing it."
Penny gasped. "So you have already seen it!"
"I said no," Leo repeated, more firmly this time. He crossed his arms, trying to shut the conversation down. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Then he paused, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Alright. Let’s try this. If I say no, and really mean it, will you all drop it and move on?"
Greg grinned. "Not a chance."
Penny raised a hand with mock solemnity. "I am absolutely committed to pestering you until I see it."
Aria smiled sweetly. "I would like to observe the contrast between your elemental forms for purely academic reasons."
Leo turned his head toward Crystal like a man seeking shelter in a storm. "Crystal?"
She met his gaze, impassive. "I have no opinion."
Leo closed his eyes, exhaled slowly, and tilted his head toward the sky.
"This is harassment."
Greg slapped him on the back. "It’s called party bonding, man. Just let it out. We’re all curious now."
"I hate this party," Leo muttered.
"You love us," Penny chimed, clasping her hands dramatically. "Now show us your creepy snake mode, oh Venom Daddy."
Leo pointed a finger at her. "Do not combine those words ever again."
Penny snickered, and Aria coughed politely into her hand, clearly fighting laughter. Greg, meanwhile, had already started chanting "Snake Form" like it was a sports event.
Leo stared into the middle distance, wondering where exactly in his life things had gone so wrong.
’Hahahaha Boss~! It is almost like you are cursed to be surrounded by Chaos no matter where you go~!’
Mors’ mocking tone almost made Leo jolt. He hadn’t expected for him to show up now of all times.
’Mors. What was all that about unlocking a new form?’
’What happened back in the Forest was very dangerous and there was a 90% chance you would die~!’
Leo felt his breath catch when Mors told him that. He was even closer to dying than he had ever realized.
’But that doesn’t answer my question. What happened here?’
’You were given a Key. What we did before was the equivalent of using your teeth to open a metal lock with brute force~’
Leo narrowed his eyes. ’And this time I did it properly?’
’Yes. You were granted access because you’ve bonded with six of the twelve Zodiacs. That level of connection is rare. Most would probably never even reach three.’
Leo felt something shift inside him. Not physically. Something deeper. Like the weight of what he had done was finally catching up.
’So unlocking this... it wasn’t just random?’
’No. The system did not give you that form out of generosity. The threshold you passed was deliberate. Six bonds. That was the minimum required. Only then were you... recognized.’
Leo looked around the room. Greg and Penny were still chatting excitedly. Aria was watching him closely, thoughtful. Crystal had returned to quietly checking her interface, but she was listening. All of them were waiting on him to respond somehow.
’What is this system, really?’ Leo asked quietly in his mind.
’That....I can’t tell you. Yet.’
