Special Forces Medic-Chapter 728 - 695 Resurrection from Death
"I understand! This really has nothing to do with me, I know nothing."
"Did you just say that Yao Zheng wants to kill you, is he the district governor of the north district?" Xiao Lin might believe that Yan Fengying is unaware of many things, but he doesn't believe she knows nothing.
"I... I didn't say anything."
"The car is here, the police will escort you to the hospital for treatment." Tougher than imagined, Xiao Lin will not take further action for now, as pressing on might be counterproductive.
A cold hand hooked his finger, Xiao Lin shook off her hand and walked out without looking back. After giving brief instructions to the officers outside, he ignored her.
"How did it go?" Hua Qingyi followed up, quietly asking Xiao Lin.
"This woman is tougher than I thought, she only said Yao Zheng wouldn't kill her." Fingers inserted into his hair roots, the ambulance had already driven out of the station courtyard. "Let's follow up."
The assassin was a disguise, the purpose was to make Yan Fengying tell the truth, but the result was unexpected.
The hospital was eerie and terrifying in the early morning, the ambulance lights flashing. Yan Fengying was pushed into the emergency room in a wheelchair, with guards at the door, two black shadows slipped in from several places.
Huh? Someone emitted a surprised sound, another two black shadows followed in one after another. The person hidden under the corner rubbed their eyes, doubting if they had just seen wrong, but when they looked again, the scene remained unchanged.
After the doctor performed emergency treatment on the wound and removed the bullet from her body, Yan Fengying gradually fell into a coma due to excessive blood loss. "The patient will be kept for observation for a day, if there's no issue, she can leave." The doctor explained a few words to the police, and then a nurse pushed Yan Fengying into the observation room.
In the observation room with six or seven people, there was only one old lady in the ward, and the caregiver had fallen asleep on the bed. Not sure what illness this old lady had, she mumbled, occasionally shouting a few times, waking the caretaker, who cursed a little, glanced at the old lady, and continued sleeping.
Because Yan Fengying was a suspect, her position was moved from the observation room to a single room for better guarding to prevent her from escaping. Two young officers guarded outside the door, while the comatose person slept restlessly, tossing and turning on the bed.
The window was pushed open, and a shadow slipped in with a swoosh, picking up a pillow nearby and pressing it against Yan Fengying's head. The person, now deprived of oxygen, soon began to struggle. She kicked her legs wildly and desperately tried to pull off the thing covering her face; she could barely breathe, her lungs feeling as if they were about to explode with pain.
Three silver needles shot in through the window, hitting the wrist of the person in black. "Damn it!" the person in black cursed, then knocked out Yan Fengying and leaped out of the window. The two officers outside heard the commotion in the room and rushed in immediately, seeing a shadow at the window before it disappeared.
This time someone genuinely wanted to kill Yan Fengying. Xiao Lin exchanged a glance with Hua Qingyi, leading the person in black into a narrow alley and stopping after only running a few steps.
The person chasing cautiously stood at the entrance of the alley, fearing another ambush, staring at the person before them without expression. Xiao Lin extended a hand, fingers lightly beckoning, a provocation that caused the person in black to attack immediately. The numbness in his arm quickly showed a clear response due to his movements; the silver needle embedded four points deep, with the needle tail shaking violently.
Xiao Lin took a step back, the person in black unclear of the meaning of his action, instead speeding up his attack as if attempting to force him to act. "Stop if you don't want your hand crippled." Raising his voice on purpose, the sharp tone echoed in the narrow alley like a ghost's wail. In fact, while the sharp sound lasted, Xiao Lin had already flashed behind him.
"So fast!" the person in black exclaimed, then ran forward, leaping upward with support from the wall, and kicked at Xiao Lin from mid-air.
Using his left hand to block, the opponent's footwork was solid, giving his arm a slightly numbing shock. Before Xiao Lin could counterattack, the opponent impossibly followed with a second kick, again defended with the left hand. Meanwhile, Xiao Lin pivoted 180 degrees and swung a kick, just in time to intercept the opponent's third kick, launching a counterattack.
Though the person in black absorbed Xiao Lin's first effective attack, after stabilizing his footing, the foot that was kicked never landed.
"You're a third batch retired soldier of Dragon Soul!" Xiao Lin noticed from the chain kicking technique the man's identity, uncertain yet troubled about the presence of Dragon Soul members here.
"Mind your own business." Knowing he was no match for Xiao Lin, the person in black still lunged at him, charging with such desperation that Xiao Lin dared not be careless.
Both hands reversed their grip on the long dagger. The sharp blade edge sparked against the wall, creating two radiating beams. No fancy moves were made; it stabbed directly and effectively at Xiao Lin, forcing him to retreat to the side with each strike.
"I told you, using your left hand would certainly cripple it." He had seen that with each attack, his left hand fell short of the original target, no mere feat considering hitting the acupuncture point; Xiao Lin couldn't help but respect the person in black.
Regardless of whether he believed Xiao Lin or not, the person in black had no intention of stopping. Faced with such determination, Xiao Lin had nothing to say. "Within three moves, you'll never raise your hand again; I'm giving you a chance, if..."
"No need!" Then, in an instant, the person in black altered his position mid-attack. By the time Xiao Lin realized his intent, it was too late to move, and his entire arm was severed just like that.
Even facing countless brutal battlefields without flinching at the sight of blood, Xiao Lin was shocked, staring at the person in black whom he thought was foolish.
"Why do this?" He couldn't even think of a reason for his actions.
"If I can't kill that woman, I'll die too." The man in black murmured through gritted teeth. Xiao Lin slowly approached him, suddenly curious about his face.
"It's you!" With a quick motion, he tore off the man's mask, revealing a face that left Xiao Lin astonished.
"It's me!"
"Just go!"
"Kill me instead!"
"Go!" Xiao Lin was almost forcefully restraining something, his voice trembling—not with anger, not with sadness, not with excitement, nor with fear—but he was indeed shaking.
"Xiao Lin!" the man in black called out his name softly, causing Xiao Lin to tremble even more uncontrollably.
"Don't call my name, don't say you know me!" The roar that erupted from his throat echoed throughout the alley.
As Hua Qingyi was carrying someone from the hospital, he suddenly heard the roar. He instinctively stopped what he was doing, gave a few instructions to the young police officer beside him, and then hurried towards the source of the roar.
That was Xiao Lin's voice. He had never heard him sound so mournful before. What had happened? Even when Hong died, he hadn't been this grief-stricken. Who could that man in black be?
"Xiao..." The man in black, supporting his shoulder with one hand, tried to approach Xiao Lin but was pushed back several steps.
Xiao Lin shook his head at the man in black, then turned and ran out of the alley, sprinting forward desperately. When Hua Qingyi arrived, he saw a pool of blood on the ground and Xiao Lin's erratic running on the street, which only made him more anxious.
"What's wrong with you?" Catching up to Xiao Lin, Hua Qingyi blocked his path, looking at the tears streaming from his eyes. Hua Qingyi was shocked. "What the hell happened?"
Xiao Lin would cry, but not easily! "Hu Zi is still alive."
"..." Hua Qingyi was speechless, his mouth agape and unable to utter a word. He shook his head and patted Xiao Lin on the head.
"I just saw him."
"How is that possible? Isn't he dead? Didn't you watch him die with your own eyes, right in front of you?" Hua Qingyi grasped Xiao Lin's shoulders excitedly. "Where is he?"
"I let him escape!"
"Are you saying the man in black just now was Hu Zi?" This realization shocked Hua Qingyi even more. Liang Hu and Xiao Lin had a strong bond; his loyalty to the country was unmatched, yet his uprightness often brought him bad luck.
"I didn't know it was him. He was so stubborn that he destroyed his own arm."
Hua Qingyi couldn't immediately make sense of Xiao Lin's words, but this definitely wasn't the place to talk. "Let's go back first. Maybe you were seeing things; the dead can't come back to life, right?"
"Maybe they can!" Xiao Lin said slowly. If he hadn't seen Hong open his eyes and call out to him, he would have believed he was seeing things, but the voice of that man in black and the way he called his name were identical to Liang Hu.
"What happened at the amusement park?" Hua Qingyi didn't want to press, because that night was painful for Xiao Lin, so he hadn't asked. But seeing his expression now, he couldn't let it go any longer. People can change, but his change was too bizarre.
"Nothing happened."
"You're lying. You left with Hong's body and came back alone." Hua Qingyi shouted. "The guards can all testify. What did you encounter that turned you so cold and heartless?"
"Now's not the time to discuss this." Calm once more, Xiao Lin had returned to his indifferent demeanor. He pushed Hua Qingyi aside and walked back into the alley. "It was here that Hu Zi cut off his own arm. The blood on the ground is his."
"Both the arm and the person are gone."
"If Hu Zi isn't dead, I'll tear down all of Yanjing if I have to, just to find him and get an explanation." (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for it with your recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
