Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 123—Ploy of the Enemy
Despite being unable to see at all, Cole still made sure to stand steady and prepare himself for anything that was to come.
He wasn’t sure what was actually going on, but he was sure that his current location wasn’t safe at all.
"Didn’t we arrive at the academy?" Cole wondered.
Though the academy has been proven to have a lot of dangers, Cole still expected it to be much safer than any other place.
As time grew, Cole’s vision slowly cleared, and he could finally see what was actually going on around him.
Standing across from Cole was a group of people, most of them being people Cole couldn’t recognize, but the few he could immediately made his heart sink.
"Teacher Wilce," Cole muttered.
The last time he had an encounter with this man, he was trying to kill him, so Cole’s dinner had a good impression.
What actually worried Cole the most was the absence of any familiar face. Everyone here was either an enemy or completely unknown.
"Student Cole Bremont kindly stepped away from the rest," Cole heard someone say.
To avoid any sort of trouble since Cole felt all of this was a misunderstanding, he looked back at his teammates before stepping forward like he was ordered to.
"You are being detained for the murder of a fellow student, and now you shall follow us to the elder hall for your judgment," the person continued.
"Murder of a fellow student? Could it be Michael?" Cole wondered.
"But isn’t Michael out of the academy?"
Before Cole could continue his thoughts, he was immediately interrupted by a shout from a familiar voice.
"There’s no need to go to elder hall, let’s just murder him here and now," Wilce shouted.
While his words were still coming out of his mouth, Cole could already feel the Life energy coalescing around Wilce.
"He is about to attack," Cole thought as he prepared himself.
"Hang on, Wilce, it hasn’t gotten to that yet," Someone said from the side, but Wilce was extremely obstinate and wasn’t ready to let Cole go again.
Instead, he stubbornly activated his ability, creating a large wind blade that he released straight at Cole.
The wind blade zipped past him with extreme speed, too fast for any of the people there to intervene and try to save him. So instead of relying on anyone, Cole buckled his knee and stared straight at it.
The wind blade was coming in piping hot, producing a grating sound due to the interaction with the air molecules.
The wind blade finally arrived, and Cole didn’t waste any time before activating Kinetic Acceleration.
He used it all over his body this time to avoid deeper suspicion and all of that.
With Kinetic Acceleration, Cole moved to the side extremely fast, allowing the wind blade to zip by and head for the machines behind him.
A glint flashed by one of the elderly-looking people there as he slowly raised his hand and swiped, instantly canceling out the wind blade before it could cause any destruction.
Cole wasn’t dumb; he knew the man could have done all that much, much earlier, but the elder seemed to have a mission.
"That’s enough, Wilce; any more acts against this kid will be counted as rebellion," the man that just interfered spoke up.
Despite being extremely reluctant, Wilce could only hold his attacks while he watched the extreme hate that was on Cole’s face.
"Follow us now, kid; don’t try to play any tricks," the man said again before turning around to leave.
"I bet this won’t be a free trial," Cole thought to himself as he also began to move.
"Cole," Linda suddenly called from behind him.
"Don’t listen to these old bastards; you didn’t kill any students; instead, we saved children," she said fumingly.
"It’s fine, Linda; let me go with them," Cole said while he turned to look at Bryan.
Cole could see the absolutely helpless expression on his friend’s face as they locked eyes. It was obvious that Bryan wasn’t in support of everything going on here, but he could only keep quiet; he didn’t have a big family background like Linda.
"Be careful," Cole notices he says softly.
Nodding to his two teammates and friends, Cole turned back to follow the leaving people.
He himself couldn’t explain it, but he knew he felt a strange feeling of calmness, taking him from his earlier agitated state to his current calm state.
Cole followed the crowd of people quietly until they reached a building that looked like almost every other hall in the academy except for the four statues that stood at the entrance.
"Follow me," the man said to Cole while he separated from the others.
Like he had been complying before, Cole still listened calmly and followed the man into the hall.
Though the outside of the hall looked like every other hall in the academy, the inside was nothing like the exterior. Instead, it was a space with an elevated area.
The elevated area was extremely high, making sure that everyone had to look up to it. The space had four seats, but only three were currently occupied.
"The last one must belong to the fourth Elder," Cole thought.
"I brought him elder," the man said before stepping to the side.
"Thank you, Allan," the oldest of the elders said.
"Do you know why you are here, Cole Bremont?" the oldest elder said.
"I think I am older, but I am not totally sure," Cole said while trying to be as humble as possible.
"Since you aren’t sure, I don’t mind informing you. You are currently being charged for the murder of another student,"
Cole’s eyes shrank inward a little hearing the elder confirm his thoughts.
"It must be Michael then," Cole thought.
"Dear elder, is the student I was alleged to have killed named Micheal?" Cole asked
"Yes, he is," the elder responded.
"Then I have no remorse whatsoever," Cole said curtly, his eyes blazing extremely fiercely as if he didn’t care about what was to come.
