Spoiled By My Brothers: Return of The Lost Heiress-Chapter 170 - 168
Author’s POV
Seraphina leaned forward, her glare fixed on Stephanie as her words were piercing sharp. "So be prepared. If you don’t return what’s mine, I’ll sue you. I’ll make the whole world know who the real heir is, and who the thieves are."
For the first time, Seraphina’s voice was not full of pain or suffering quietly; instead, she was fighting for herself. She had been wronged for ages, to the point that she had taken a rebirth but was still in the same condition, and now she was declaring it to everyone: she wasn’t going to forgive, she wasn’t going to forget that she had suffered under them.
"Why are you being like this, Sera?" Melissa tried to speak, but Alistair’s voice cut sharply through before Seraphina could answer.
"Don’t you dare interrupt when my sister is talking!" His glare turned to Melissa, cold and furious. "You are no one to speak in the family matter. You’ve always been an outsider... and that’s all you’ll ever be."
"Brother!" Melissa’s heart pounded against her ribs. Her face went pale, and her eyes turned wide. "How can you say that? I’ve never done anything to hurt you! Why are you treating me like this?"
Alistair didn’t respond. His jaw clenched, but he didn’t want to be involved with someone like her, who was a master manipulator. But Melissa wasn’t done—her voice shook, as she turned her eyes toward Old Madam Lan, almost begging for her to have her back.
"I’ve always cared for you," she started as her tone was trembling. "I never disrespect you once... since we were children, all I had was love and admiration for you.
But you...You’ve always only been jealous of me because Mother loved me more. You hated me for it! You never once saw me as your sister, even though I loved you with all my heart..."
Her words hung in the air, trembling, weak... but Alistair still ignored her as if she was nothing.
"Pfft!"
The hall went dead still until Seraphina broke into a cold, mocking laugh. Her shoulders shook as she tried to hold it back, but the sound only grew harsher. She wiped the corner of her eyes with her fingers, where tears had gathered from laughing too hard.
"What’s so funny, Sera?" Melissa’s face twisted, her hands curling into fists. "Are you mocking me? Are you... interfering now? Just because brother already declared me an outsider?" She tried to make herself sound pitiful, as though she was the one being wronged.
Seraphina smirked. "What brother said was obvious enough. You are an outsider." She didn’t pause, her voice laced with ice. "But of course... that’s not the reason why I laughed."
Melissa blinked and felt confused, not sure what to do next!
"I laughed because you actually dared to claim Brother Alistair was jealous of you," Seraphina said as her voice was dripping with scorn. "And then you tried to win sympathy from the people present there and make Grandma pity you! But... Sorry to disappoint you but you have failed terribly."
"Wh—what?" Melissa stammered, heat rushing up her face. "I... I never said that to—"
"Really?" Seraphina cut in sharply, her smirk widening as if she’d caught Melissa red-handed. "Good for you, even if you want to keep pretending. But let me tell you exactly how it looked to me... You watched me stand here and finally demand what’s mine, and the first thing you did was twist the whole thing. You pulled out your pity act and a sympathy card... You tried to drag the spotlight to yourself as if you were a victim here, hoping everyone would forget what I just said. That’s not just pathetic, Melissa... Your act was just desperate."
Melissa’s face drained, hearing Sera’s words, her lips trembling with no defense left.
"That’s it!" Old Lady Lan slammed her stick against the floor with a crack that echoed through the hall. "It’s decided!"
Everyone froze as her gaze shifted toward Sean’s family, who had been silent witnesses to everything that had just transpired.
"You all know very well,
Seraphina is my legal and blood granddaughter. Everything I own, every bit of the Lancaster name and wealth, goes to her. Not even my grandsons will be able acquire it. And as for the promise between our families... it will be Seraphina Lancaster who fulfills it."
The room fell silent.
"What!" Seraphina’s eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat. "Grandma!"
"Grandma!" Melissa’s voice broke in before Seraphina could even process the words. She stumbled forward as tears welled up in her eyes. "I don’t care if you take everything else from me, even if you strip me of money, the house, the name, that’s all fine! But Sean? Why are you taking Sean, too?" Her tears spilled, her voice cracking into sobs.
She clutched her chest as though her heart had been ripped out. She had played every card she had, manipulated through her parents, lied, and twisted her way into securing her place. She could fight for her wealth and take it back sooner or later. But Sean... He was her bottom line. She couldn’t be taken away from him, and what was unbearable was the fact that she had given him to Seraphina!
Why her?
"Grandma, please!" Melissa dropped to her knees in front of the old woman, her tears dripping onto the polished floor. "Don’t do this to me! Sean... He is mine... you can’t give him to her!"
Old Lady Lan’s face hardened. "Sean is not yours to claim, my child. He was never yours. The promise was made for Lancaster blood. And now that we know only Seraphina carries it."
The words dropped like a stone in the middle of the room.
Seraphina’s lips trembled. Her mind spun. Me? With Sean? This can’t be real...
Meanwhile, Melissa’s sobs turned into a high, broken wail as she clutched at her grandmother’s dress.
"Please, do not take away the man I love!" She sobbed!
