Chapter 831: Eight hundred and twenty-nine, little buddy
While chatting, Lu Hanmo opened the door and walked in with Yhan Cheng.
"Mommy!" Yhan Cheng immediately ran to Lin Helian when he saw her, happily throwing himself into her arms, "Didn’t you say you weren’t coming to pick me up?" He was still very happy that his mother came for him.
"Mommy has something to discuss with Auntie today, starting from tomorrow you will have to go home by yourself," said Lin Helian. Since she and her husband had already agreed to foster Yhan Cheng’s independence, she couldn’t break the rules first.
"Okay!" Yhan Cheng said with a smile and nodded.
Lin Helian ruffled Yhan Cheng’s hair, stood up from the sofa, and said to Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo: "Yhan Zhan will be coming back soon as well; I’m going to go make dinner."
Leaving Luo Shu’s home, Lin Helian held Yhan Cheng’s hand and headed towards their own place.
In the distance, four or five children were chasing and frolicking in the yard, their merry laughter wafting over, inexplicably lightening the mood.
A round-faced little girl with two braids came up to Lin Helian and Yhan Cheng, smiling at Yhan Cheng, "Come play with us." She had wanted to play with Yhan Cheng before, but her mother wouldn’t allow it, saying that Yhan Cheng was a bad person’s child. Yet, these past few days, her mother often whispered in her ear to play with Yhan Cheng. The grown-up world, they as children really didn’t understand!
A flash of surprise gleamed in Yhan Cheng’s eyes, but then that light dimmed, and he turned to look at Lin Helian, "Mommy, can I play with them?" He longed to play with his peers, but every time he approached them, they would avoid him, as if he were contagious. Even if they let him near, they treated him as a punching bag.
Lin Helian was about to refuse but, seeing the longing in Yhan Cheng’s eyes, she hesitated for a moment before saying, "Xiao Cheng, do you remember what Mommy told you yesterday?" She had told him that if anyone bullied him, he should run.
Yhan Cheng nodded vigorously, "I will definitely run, they won’t get the chance to bully me."
"Okay then, go play with them," Lin Helian said softly as she tousled Yhan Cheng’s hair. Xiao Cheng couldn’t always play alone; interacting more with other kids would be good for him, otherwise, it would be bad if he developed a solitary personality.
"Mommy, I’m going to play with her," Yhan Cheng said, a radiant smile on his face as he waved at Lin Helian and ran off with the little girl towards the other children.
Lin Helian watched Yhan Cheng quickly blend in with the group and smiled with relief. Turning her gaze away, she headed for home.
After setting the table with dinner, Lin Helian saw Yhan Zhan returning and smiled at him, "Dinner’s ready."
Yhan Zhan nodded, went into the washroom to wash his hands, and asked, "Is Xiao Cheng in the room?" Every day when he came back, Xiao Cheng would be squatting in their room, practicing his stance.
"He’s playing with the kids in the courtyard; you go ahead and eat. I’ll call him," Lin Helian said as she hung her apron on the chair and stepped towards the door.
Just as she opened the door, she saw Yhan Cheng, sweaty from playing, standing outside. Seeing his flushed face full of smiles, Lin Helian’s heart finally settled.
"Look at you, all sweaty from playing. Go inside and wipe your face, and get ready for dinner," Lin Helian said with a smile, watching Yhan Cheng enter the house before reaching out to close the door.
"Great!" Yhan Cheng responded joyfully, heading towards the washroom. Today, he was really happy. He didn’t expect playing with his friends to be so much fun. freewebnøvel.com
After washing his face and hands, Yhan Cheng sat down across from Lin Helian, "Dad, Mom, can I always play with my friends from now on?" Big Bear, the one who usually led others in bullying him, was unusually nice to him today and even gave him a pencil.
Lin Helian and Yhan Zhan exchanged glances, nodding simultaneously, "Of course!" Since Xiao Cheng had so much fun, they certainly wouldn’t object.
"That’s awesome!" Yhan Cheng cheered jubilantly, taking out a pencil from the pocket of his cotton jacket and waving it in front of Yhan Zhan and Lin Helian, "Dad, Mom, look, this is from Big Bear, and he even apologized to me." This was the happiest thing for him today.
Yhan Zhan and Lin Helian were also infected by Yhan Cheng’s happiness, their faces always carrying a gentle smile.
Meanwhile, in a room not far from Yhan Zhan’s home.
A round-faced little girl with two braids was excitedly telling her parents about the game she played with her friends, "Mom, I played with Yhan Cheng today. We played ’What’s the time, Mr. Wolf?’ It was so much fun."
Upon hearing this, the little girl’s mother’s eyes lit up and she asked, "You played with Yhan Cheng? Did you ask him about the thing Mommy told you to?" That morning, she had heard about Lin Helian starting work, so she repeatedly reminded her daughter to play with Yhan Cheng and take the opportunity to ask about his mother’s job.
The little girl nodded, "I asked, but Yhan Cheng said he doesn’t know."
The mother felt somewhat disappointed.
"What did you want to ask?" the girl’s father, after taking a sip of liquor and snacking on a peanut, inquired.
"Lin Helian started working today, and I suspect Sister-in-law Lu arranged it," the little girl’s mother said. She had also been looking for a way to get close to Luo Shu but hadn’t found an opportunity.
"So what if Sister-in-law Lu arranged it? What does it matter?" the little girl’s father looked at his wife, puzzled.
"Of course it matters, I want Sister-in-law Lu to help me get a job as well. I’m spending my days at home, I’m almost getting moldy," the little girl’s mother put her rice bowl down and said matter-of-factly.
"And how can you be so certain that Sister-in-law Lu would help?" the little girl’s father asked with a frown.
"That’s where you come in, aren’t you a Guard Member under Captain Lu? Just talk to Captain Lu about it," the little girl’s mother looked at her husband with a smile, awaiting his response.
"If you mean to say that I should talk, I definitely won’t," the girl’s father picked up his glass, drank all its contents in one gulp, grabbed his bowl for picking up dishes, and headed toward the kitchen. She didn’t understand how formidable Captain Lu was. If he dared to ask Captain Lu for this favor, Captain Lu would certainly give him a good dressing down. He wasn’t looking for trouble, why should he go looking for suffering?
"Wu Xiangyang, I am your wife, and with a job, I could add to our family income, making our life better," the little girl’s mother stood up, glaring at her husband angrily. She was only making a small request, and even that he wouldn’t agree to.
