SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes-Chapter 19: One Week

Desther observed his classmates talking to each other inside their classroom.

As usual, he was sitting in an inconspicuous corner observing everything around out of boredom.

It has been a week since the dungeon incident.

After that incident, the school announced for the whole class to take a rest and heal from the ’trauma’ they went through inside the dungeon.

Speaking of trauma, Desther turned to look in front and saw Lexie mingling with their classmates as if nothing had happened.

In the end, she did not say anything about him when she was asked by the teachers.

She admitted that she was the one who killed the Tier 1 Warrior teacher, as well as the Dungeon Boss, and then eventually destroyed the dungeon core.

According to the story that everyone knew, she went inside to awaken her Talent like everyone else.

However, when she was transported inside, she accidentally stumbled into the dungeon boss area after the sudden earthquake.

The dungeon boss starts to target her, but since she awakened her talent, she was able to escape time and time again until the Tier 1 Warrior teacher arrived to save her.

However, the dungeon boss turned out to have become stronger, and the teacher was forced to sacrifice himself after a bitter battle.

Lexie then killed the dungeon boss.

Well, that was the gist of it.

At least, that was what everyone knew.

Although it was completely different from what they had agreed upon, this story turns out to be better than the one he originally came up with.

It erases a lot of unnecessary information that might cause them to get questioned later on.

Anyway, he did not know why she decided to omit the assassination part; she must have her own reason for that.

Thinking about her words before entering the dungeon, Desther was at least eighty percent sure that she was kind of aware that an assassination would happen inside the dungeon.

He did not know why she still went through it in the end, though.

Although it was a kind of idiotic move on her part, Desther believed that she might have some reason for that action as well.

After all, no one would do that willingly for no apparent reason, right?

At least, he was not dumb enough to do so.

Anyway, it was not Desther’s problem, so he better forget anything regarding that incident.

After all, Lexie had already done her part by not snitching on him, so he should do his part and forget about everything as well.

There will be no trouble if you stay out of trouble, right?

Besides that, all of his classmates returned safely as well, though none of them were able to do their first kill yet, so they have mostly not unlocked their Profile Status yet.

After the other teachers responsible for the safe areas noticed the dungeon’s anomaly, they immediately called for backup. Although it took a while, everyone was indeed rescued, including Lexie, who got wounded after the intense battle.

So in the end, aside from the Tier 1 Warrior who gloriously sacrificed himself, there was no other casualty in that dungeon incident.

In regard to that incident as well, Desther later found out that it was actually not an isolated case. Aside from the dungeon that they were in, some other dungeons had also mutated all of a sudden, almost at the same time.

As of this moment, the cause was still being studied, and some results should be announced soon.

So in the end, Desther was no longer sure that the mutation indeed occurred due to him awakening the SSS-Grade Talent.

Well, he decided to stop speculating and just wait for the announcement from the experts.

Today was the second day since they were allowed to go back to school.

After becoming an Awakened, a student must choose which path they wish to take.

Whether they want to become Combat Professional or Lifestyle Professionals, they must choose one before the specialized training can begin.

Today, Teacher Rosa will collect their decision regarding this matter.

Once a decision was made, they would then be transferred to their appropriate path department, getting further instructions and education on the field that they want to focus on.

However, considering today’s situation, Desther anticipated that most of the students would choose to become Combat Professionals unless their awakened talents were truly unsuited to becoming one.

After all, dungeons could pop out anywhere, anytime, and could potentially break out at any moment.

Choosing to become a Combat Professional would mean that they would be trained for combat and hence would be able to deal with such situations better than those trained as Lifestyle Professionals.

As for matters regarding wealth, both paths have their pros and cons.

Combat Professionals could earn their keep by killing monsters and clearing dungeons. Harvesting the monster materials and items inside a dungeon that they could then sell.

They would be able to earn their keep, and at the same time slay monsters and clear dungeons to rid the world of them.

Of course, being a Combat Professional would mean that one would always be in the face of danger.

As for Lifestyle Professionals, there are a lot of things that they could do to earn their keep. Researchers, blacksmiths, Potion Masters and such belonged to this type of path.

Although this path offers less danger during normal days, earning wealth and standing out in their respective fields were quite difficult, as they have a high level of entry.

As for Desther himself, he would obviously choose being a Combat Professional.

Even before awakening his Talent, this was already the path he intended to take. He had considered a lot of things and knew that out of all the professions available, this was the only one that could offer some wealth without him spending a lot of time.

Before, he imagined himself killing at least one monster a week to earn basic living needs and then just lying down right after to read novels and manga, watch anime and movies, and then play mobile or PC games.

With how much work and time Lifestyle Professionals invest in their craft, there was no way Desther would be able to do all of those if he chose the Lifestyle Professional path.

While thinking to himself, Desther noticed the surroundings began to settle down.

’Teacher Rosa should be coming,’ he thought as he straightened the way he sat.

A moment later, his guess was proven right as Teacher Rosa in her usual uniform entered the classroom.

The moment she entered, Desther immediately noticed the changes around her.

First, he could tell that her aura had become gloomier. He had already noticed this one before the awakening ceremony, but it seemed to have worsened a lot compared to that time. Her eyebags became darker, and her back was hunched like she was carrying something heavy behind her back.

"Alright, you guys should know what our agenda is for today," she said with a heavy tone.

"First, get one and pass these forms to your classmates. Fill them with your information as well as on which path you would like to take. If you’re undecided, you can leave it blank for now, and you will be scheduled for one-on-one counseling."

She handed Lexie a stack of paper and allowed her to disseminate them to everyone in the class.

"Make sure that you input the correct information in there, as that would also serve as a guide for your Professional badges."
