SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes-Chapter 24: Entering The Group-Type Dungeon
Celier looked neat and clean with his butler outfit. He has white brows and white hair tied neatly in the back. One look and one would be able to tell his professionalism.
"Good noon, Mr. Celier. We are indeed from Radiant Dawn College. I am Rosa, the teacher in charge of this student. I am also the same person that requested the school to rent the dungeon for the students to use."
Celier nodded his head, "It’s good that someone capable is in charge of these new awakeners. I applaud you for your dedication. If I were the one to decide, I would have accepted your proposal a week ago during their awakening."
Teacher Rosa smiled wryly at his words.
"There’s nothing we can do about it anymore, Mr. Celier. I’m just glad the school listened and approved my proposal this time."
"True enough. Alright, follow me to the dungeon." Celier nodded his head as he beckoned with his hands wrapped in white gloves for everyone to follow.
Teacher Rosa also nodded to her students as they followed both of them.
Lexie followed right after them, while Desther, forced to follow behind his teammates, could only walk to the side, minimizing all the exposure directed at him.
Following behind, Desther could not help but ponder about Celier and Teacher Rosa’s words.
From what he understood from the bits and pieces from their conversation, it seemed like Teacher Rosa had actually been requesting for this Group-type dungeon to be used during their awakening ceremony.
There has never been a case where a Group-type dungeon was used during an awakening ceremony for multiple reasons.
First, Group-type dungeons are rare and valuable. Most schools don’t own any of them, and if, for instance, they have one, it would usually be used for training purposes, not for awakening.
Second, Group-type dungeons are naturally more massive in area compared to Single-type dungeons. If it were used for awakening purposes, that would mean that students would take a longer time to move from their location toward the safe areas. This increases strain on the students and, at the same time, increases the risk of encountering monsters along the way.
Third, since Group-type dungeons are massive, maintaining them in a stable state and avoiding a dungeon breakout would cost a lot of resources.
It was probably due to those reasons that the Radiant Dawn School ultimately decided to reject her request.
He did not know her reason for requesting such. As a teacher, she should already be aware of those reasons herself.
Anyway, Desther took it out of his mind for now as they neared the Group-type dungeon.
Up ahead, he saw two men guarding the dungeon portal, wearing armor and holding weapons.
"Don’t be surprised, this dungeon has valuable materials inside, so we stationed two Tier 2 Awakened Professionals to keep everything orderly. Inside the dungeon, some Tier 2 Professionals are also stationed to keep everything peaceful."
"Of course, as part of the agreement, those Tier 2 Awakened Professionals would be staying in the safe area so as not to interfere with the young one’s training."
Celier introduced the two and, at the same time, reassured everyone present.
Stationing Tier 2 Awakened Professionals for an F-Threat Group-type dungeon seemed pretty excessive in Desther’s opinion.
However, if there was indeed valuable material inside, and considering what would happen if a sudden mutation occurred just like the previous one, maybe stationing Tier 2 Awakened Professionals was indeed right.
Hearing Celier’s words, the other students visibly relaxed.
The two guards looked at the students as they neared the dungeon.
Their job was not hard. At least, for the time that they were stationed here, they had not encountered any sort of trouble. The only thing they could complain about in this job is that they need to stand for the whole shift. However, it has good pay and safety, so they do not bother about such trivial matters.
As the Celier and the students neared, the two guards suddenly tensed as they each clenched their weapons tight.
’Danger!’
The two of them thought at the same time and immediately surveyed the surroundings.
Seeing that nothing out of the ordinary happened, they could only look at each other in confusion. At first, they thought that they were just imagining things, but seeing the confusion in the eyes of their partners, both of them instantly realized that what they felt was indeed real.
As Tier 2 Awakened Professionals, they have high perceptions regarding their surroundings.
But this time, their perceptions seem to fail them.
The dangerous feeling still lingered in the air, but they just could not pinpoint where the source was.
’No malicious intent... but just more like a presence?’
Both of them looked at each other and seemed to guess each other’s thoughts.
’That must be Mr. Celier then...’ the two concluded and put the matter at the back of their mind, continuing their guard duty obediently.
Meanwhile, Desther looked at and observed the two guards discreetly as he stared at the Group-type dungeon that they were guarding.
He noticed the two of them clenching their weapons almost at the same time when their group was only a few meters away from them.
Desther thought that their reaction was very strange and could not help but think that something might be going on.
Not wanting any kind of trouble, Desther just took note of their reaction as he looked and observed the Group-type dungeon.
Since they were of the same grade and threat level, this dungeon still has the same color as the previous one they entered. The only difference was that this dungeon’s portal was much wider and bigger.
Having a wider and bigger portal or gate was one of the indications that a dungeon was a group-type one. Of course, the only way to really confirm it is by going inside to see it.
Teacher Rosa told them to prepare.
After that, she called their names and told them to go inside along with their assigned group.
As part of Lexie’s team, they were obviously the first ones to be called in.
Hand in hand, the four of them stepped inside the dungeon and disappeared from everyone’s vision.
The two guards looked at each other, sensing that the atmosphere had somehow changed.
"Why do I suddenly feel weak?"
"Strange... Me too!"
"Well... must’ve been the wind."
