Chapter 43: Not That Type Of Guy

"Why are you in such a hurry to go home?"

Victor and his group walked toward him casually.

Desther looked at them calmly.

Victor was a tall guy standing over 185 centimeters. He has a lean build and upright posture with clean-cut black hair.

From what Desther knew, Victor came from a military family. His father was one of the fierce figures in the city that commanded respect from everyone.

During the first week of class, Victor approached him and tried to let him join their group.

However, wanting to avoid trouble, he rejected him and reasoned that he has social anxiety.

Victor did not seem to believe it at that time, though. He just casually laughed it off and told Desther that if he wanted to join, he could join them anytime.

There were some minor interactions after that, but Desther was already too lazy to remember all of them.

"I have somewhere to go," Desther casually answered as he waited for them to arrive in front of him.

When they arrived in front, they slowly spread to the side, as if trying to pincer him.

With a quick count, Desther realized that there were a total of twelve of them. All of them were boys, some were not even their classmates and came from the other class of the same grade.

His group had definitely grown compared to the last time he saw them. From the looks of it, Victor’s influence in their school was almost comparable to Lexie.

Surrounded by them, the situation looked very intimidating. Any moment, and one would think that a conflict would break out.

Desther stood in the middle, seemingly casual and lacking tension.

After all, he knew for himself that they would not do a thing. Especially since they were inside the campus.

Bullying was badly discouraged, and if they openly bullied him like this, Victor and his group would surely be punished heavily.

And not to mention that, even if they did decide to attack him, Desther was not afraid as well.

After all, his Profile Status went through another tremendous change after he distributed his latest attribute gains.

A total of 44 Free Attributes were allocated equally to all of his main attributes. Now, all of them were balanced and were at 22.

Now, he could feel his strength soaring beyond the limits. His body went through another change, and due to the Ultimate Thief talent being able to help him control his strength and bodily functions very well, it did not seem like nothing had changed in his outward appearance.

However, Desther himself knew just how much he had changed in a span of a few seconds.

His previous self inside the dungeon would not even stand for a few seconds if the two versions fought to their hearts’ content.

With his current strength, lifting ten times his body weight would surely be an easy job.

In terms of attribute count, he should now be genuinely comparable to a Tier 1 Awakened Professional.

Now, if these classmates of his decide to attack and try to bully him, it would still be a question who would truly suffer.

Meanwhile, Victor merely chuckled after hearing Desther’s casual answer.

He definitely did not believe his words at all.

"You know, I heard from John here that you guys had a bit of bad interaction earlier?"

Hearing that, Desther shrugged his shoulders. "A little bit, yeah."

"Why? Is Daddy planning to avenge your little babies by any chance?" he continued, still with a straight face devoid of any fear.

Victor paused for a bit before he chuckled once more while shaking his head.

"Haha, you know, you didn’t strike me as someone who loves to mess and joke around. I always thought that you were the silent type of guy. You know, the type of guy that would only speak a word if they get stepped on?"

"But from the looks of it, I think I’m wrong. You know you’re actually a good ragebaiter," Victor stated as he looked at the boys around him now fuming with rage after hearing Desther’s words.

Getting called a lapdog right in front of their face surely does not sit right with any of them.

Although they were following Victor around, that does not mean that they were his lapdogs. At the very least, Victor never treated them as such. And the group they were forming was merely an effect that came out of their friendship.

Desther shrugged his shoulders after hearing Victor’s words.

"Well, I’m not a social butterfly and have severe social anxiety. I tend to get nervous around a lot of people. I apologize in advance if I say something inappropriate."

"Fair enough." Victor raised his hands to calm the others down.

"Don’t worry. We are not here to cause any trouble. I am just simply here to apologize on behalf of what Kevin has done. I’ll settle this one, so you can rest assured that none of us would bother you because of it."

Hearing that, Desther inwardly smiled. Reading the hidden meaning behind his words.

He might have sounded friendly and was trying to look out for him, but if one analyzes the situation deeper, Victor was actually trying to threaten him.

If he does not comply and accept his ’apology’, Victor was saying that they would get their revenge.

Since they reacted this way, Desther assumed that Victor was also not inclined to making him an enemy. Or maybe it was because Lexie had already told the school and Teacher Rosa about it.

And by having him accept their apology, Kevin and his group could potentially escape heavy punishment.

"So you mean we let bygones be bygones? Forget the interaction happened, and leave each other be?"
