SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 184: The power of La Rocha!
Chapter 184: The power of La Rocha!
Mana and electric currents whirred alive as they combined together to form a being. First, his face became complete, then his torso and the rest of his body.
Streams of data flowed like veins across the floor, flickering with symbols too complex for the human mind to comprehend. His form, forged from mana and machine, crackled with volatile energy as it took its final shape.
A cold heartbeat pulsed within him, and when he was complete, a ripple of energy spread across the entire metallic fortress.
"You have got my attention now, insect. Wait and see how I toy with you. You will regret forever the moment you decided to run back into my domain! Hmmm... where are you now?"
The man’s green eyes immediately landed on the central core. He saw Damon sitting cross-legged near the mana field, and a cold sneer appeared on his face.
"A mere insect daring to steal from me? Let’s see how far you can go. I will watch you die from regret and despair at the greatness you will never achieve in your entire lifetime. Behold human! The power of La Rocha!"
The next moment, the mana field intensity became ten times stronger, and all of a sudden, the comfortable spot Damon had picked to meditate on was no longer comfortable. The mana grid in front of him, previously calm like a deep ocean, now rippled violently, like something had agitated it from within.
But Damon didn’t flinch. "Finally showing your hand?" he muttered. His voice was calm, but every muscle in his body was tensed, ready. He withstood the violent mana storm as it lashed out against his body.
Damon focused and pulled in all the mana that he could. The thick and sturdy mana pathways in his body, forged by his body tempering ritual, were instantly filled to the brim like flood gates bursting open after a dam cracked.
The mana poured into him at a speed that would have torn most cultivators apart, but Damon wasn’t most. His body greedily drank in the mana. His bones groaned, muscles tensed, skin cracked, and his blood boiled, but his eyes remained shut in perfect focus.
In a matter of seconds, all his mana pathways became overflowing. Even his sturdy body was starting to reach its limit.
The green-eyed man sneered. "Now it begins." He shouted. "Die insect! Die and become a part of my domain forever!" His voice boomed throughout the metallic fortress, even reaching Mark and Kate.
On the top floor, Aurora heard the same voice, and her figure immediately froze. "Blood God is in danger! I need to get back down there!" She totally ditched Sylvara and made an instant U-turn, rushing back towards Damon at top speed.
Kate and Mark were also prepared to deal with whatever the place threw at them. However, nothing of that sort happened. There were no golems or exploding mechs. Nothing came their way. There was nothing they could do at all.
The next moment, the mana field fluctuated once more as the currents turned even more violent. They roared with an unimaginable intensity. It was like a tsunami sweeping over the lone man sitting on the shores.
Damon’s body could no longer hold. Flesh started tearing apart. Blood seeped from his pores, boiling under the pressure. His muscles spasmed, tendons snapped and mended on loop, and bones cracked with sickening crunches.
Damon howled in pain as his body, mind, and soul were completely ravaged by the unimaginable power. Pieces of himself were starting to disappear. It was as if he were being burned alive with the sheer intensity of mana.
He knew he had chewed more than he could swallow but there was no going back now. He had to hold on. Somehow. He screamed and screamed but he firmly held his consciousness with a iron grip as he withstood all of the pain that was thrown at him.
Mark and Kate both stood frozen in shock. They did not know what to do anymore. Kate’s entire body trembled, tears falling out of her eyes. She started casting blood barriers around Damon in a frenzy as fast as she could.
"Damon... what did you do... why did you come back here... please Damon... please be okay. What am I supposed to do now?"
Mark was also in an equally shocked state. He fully activated his evolved body as a golden barrier formed around him. He then directly jumped into the swirling, intense mana storm without any hesitation. He did not care even if he died as long as he could drag Damon out of there!
However, it was completely useless. A cold snort resounded everywhere, followed by a hollow chuckle. "It’s amusing how you insects think so highly of yourself."
Mark ignored the mockery. His focus was entirely on Damon and nothing else. The mana currents reacted violently, but Mark roared back, defiant. His Titan blood burned hot, radiating with storm-forged defiance as he pushed forward, inch by inch. His newly evolved body obeyed him and withstood the onslaught.
"Hmm? What an interesting little insect!" The voice changed a little. "I think I will keep you in one of my labs to study in detail. Titan bloodlines are truly a rare commodity to come by these days."
The next second, something like a current intervened, and Mark’s body was flung outside like a rag doll as the mana maelstrom lashed at him, tearing through his golden barrier in an instant.
He crashed into the wall with a sickening thud, his body slamming against the cold metallic surface hard enough to leave a crater. Blood splattered the floor beneath him, and he groaned, barely conscious.
He had tried his very best, and yet he couldn’t even come close to Damon. Mark was not willing to give up. He couldn’t. He needed to somehow get his friend out of there. He pushed himself to get up, and his golden barrier flickered, but the next moment, a pair of chains appeared out of the wall, pulling him back down.
The metallic chains snaked through his body mercilessly with intense electricity crackling through them. They completely paralyzed Mark and, within a fraction of a second, bound him from head to toe and imprisoned him.
"Noooo!" Kate wailed. She started throwing her blood orbs maniacally at the metallic ball, but it was of no use. She sobbed and hopelessly tried erecting blood shields for Damon, which were also utterly useless.
"Pathetic!" The cold voice sounded again, followed by chilling laughter. Kate shuddered and slumped on the floor listlessly. She did not know what to do anymore. She then stood up with a blank expression on her face and started walking to the mana maelstrom.
She knew she was not Mark. She knew she wouldn’t survive, but she had to try even if it killed her. However, just as she was about to enter the raging storm, a hand pulled her back and threw her away.
"Don’t be stupid. I am still there. No one is going to take away from me what is mine for all eternity."
Kate’s eyes widened in shock as she watched Aurora walk fearlessly into the same raging mana storm, her eyes full of determination. The woman was dazzling from top to bottom with unbridled brilliance. While Mark struggled to get through, Aurora was able to easily take step after step.
