SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 187: This is where you end
Chapter 187: This is where you end
Damon’s mana core simply couldn’t handle the pressure anymore. First, small cracks started appearing, and then the cracks quickly started to become bigger. The core became more and more unstable.
Damon gritted his teeth. Pain exploded from his mana core, and his entire body twitched with unimaginable agony. But if he stopped now, then... he might once again lose everything. He couldn’t bring himself to do that, knowing what was at stake.
Besides, something inside him was urging him to keep going, to take more, to drink more. His body could take it. His blood could take it. He needed to be forged by mana, and this was his only chance!
Damon bore the pain and stubbornly persisted, absorbing even more mana.
La Rocha grimaced as an entire section of the mana field turned dimmer. A part of him became afraid of the man in front of him. Why was he continuing to grow without slowing down? He shouldn’t have lasted until now, and yet he did. This cannot be allowed to happen!
He was waiting for the guy to explode, but it looked like he would destroy everything before that could happen. No, he needed to trigger it!
"Die, you little insect!" He raised his hand not to form an attack but to send an intense shockwave of mana towards Damon, who was greedily drinking in everything.
The shockwave reached Damon, and just as La Rocha expected, his body accepted that too. Damon’s face changed as an intense pain struck him all of a sudden. La Rocha grinned. "This is where you end!" His cold laughter rang loudly.
Damon’s body could not handle it anymore, and his mana core finally gave out.
BOOOM!
A thunderous boom ripped through the air.
The world turned white.
Mana exploded outward in a blinding eruption, shaking the fortress to its foundation. The very walls warped. The earth screamed. And La Rocha’s confident smirk vanished as he realized he had vastly underestimated the monster he was dealing with.
La Rocha stumbled back, shielding his face as the shockwave washed over him. "No... this shouldn’t be happening," he muttered, eyes wide. His face turned ugly. "No!!! My test subject!" He screamed and ran to the very center of the core.
Chunks of metal tore from the walls. Pillars cracked like dry bones. Systems across the fortress sparked and shorted out. This wasn’t just an outburst. This was a collapse.
However, the person who was responsible for everything was still standing right in the center of it all!
La Rocha became ashen pale, his face contorting in fear and disbelief as an unbelievable scene unfolded in front of him.
Wild and unruly mana currents curled thickly through the shattered chamber, but at its center... Damon still stood.
Or rather, something that had once been Damon.
His body, barely held together moments ago, was now a shape of shifting crimson. Flesh and bone had dissolved into something liquid and alive. Blood. Endless blood. It sloshed and surged, held in a vaguely humanoid form, as if the explosion had not broken him, but remade him.
The swirling red mass pulsed with power. Threads of mana were still being sucked into him from every corner of the fortress, like streams pulled into a dying star. And yet, in that terrifying storm of power, there was no madness in his movements. No chaos. Just... intent.
Damon’s head lifted slowly, two glowing red slits where eyes should be locking onto La Rocha.
La Rocha stumbled back again, a shiver running down his spine. "What... what the hell are you?" he whispered.
The blood figure didn’t answer. It didn’t need to.
A formless terror pressed down on La Rocha’s shoulders, heavier than any mana pressure he’d felt in centuries.
And then Damon moved.
Just one step.
The ground beneath him shattered into fine powder, and the metallic floor of the inner core instantly disappeared, revealing thick snow.
La Rocha panicked. "No! No, you don’t!" He roared and threw up his hand. Runes etched in emerald light lit up all across the ceiling, ancient fail-safes and bindings meant to restrain higher-tier beings.
But the moment Damon raised his hand, all of it, every last rune, crackled, warped, and burst like overripe fruit.
"No..." La Rocha whispered again, more to himself than anything else. "This... wasn’t supposed to happen."
"Vampire! Heed my words! Let’s make a deal! I will give you one of my prized treasures, and you can leave my fortress with your comrades. There is no need for mutual destruction." La Rocha screamed.
However, even as he spoke, La Rocha was already conjuring a huge ball of mana, and when Damon did not respond, he directly tossed the attack straight at him. Unfortunately for the guy, the attack went straight into him, greedily absorbed into the blood just like all of his mana.
La Rocha cursed, backing away in disbelief. His gaze darted between the blood devil in front of him and the destruction all around him.
He decided to deal with Damon later and turned on his heel and sprinted to the center of the core chamber. His fingers flew across a set of hidden runes, unlocking the panel that housed a sleek, metallic cylinder, clearly the heart of the whole inner core of the metallic fortress.
He yanked it free, alarms immediately screaming to life across the facility. However, the next second, he stopped dead in his tracks. All of the red lights and sirens suddenly stopped, and even the small mana field around the metallic cylinder went dry.
La Rocha couldn’t move anymore. He turned to look at the blood devil in shock and rage as the last of the mana in the entire fortress was being sucked into the man or whatever he was at the moment. Terror and utter helplessness gripped La Rocha’s soul.
"No! No no no!" La Rocha shouted. "You’re going to destroy everything!" His voice was hoarse, bordering on madness. "You are going to undo all of my hard work!"
