SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 206: We need to leave right away
Chapter 206: We need to leave right away
Damon let out a sigh. He waited a moment longer, let out an exasperated breath, and activated his tattoo to log out. If everything worked out, these next 12 hours would be the last few hours his family ever spent in the outside world for a good while. He wanted to spend that time with them and, more importantly, ensure that nothing went wrong at the last minute.
Damon teleported in front of his room at the same spot where he had logged in, and almost immediately, he could hear the loud arguments inside his parents’ room.
"What happened now? Did I run away or something? Aren’t I right here? Why the hell are you interrogating me like I am some sort of criminal?" Georgina was shouting at the top of her lungs.
"John, why are you not saying anything? Look at how she is talking to me. I only asked her where she went. Damon specifically asked us not to go anywhere, but she ignored him and went anyway. I simply asked where she was, and she started going ballistic on me. Do I really not have the right even to ask where she is as a mother?"
John sighed, not opening his mouth. Georgina answered on his behalf. "You do not, Mrs. Linda. You actually do not. What I do on my own time is my own wish. And don’t even bring up that good for nothing. What? All of a sudden, he is some sort of big shot? Have you all forgotten how he lost almost fifty thousand dollars by gambling on some meme stock?"
Damon’s mother quieted down, uneasily. "That..." She opened her mouth to explain, but Georgina did not let her. "Did you know that your son has borrowed 10 million dollars from Mr. Artimius? The real reason why we are here is to make sure that he actually pays back the money."
"But Damon is stong-"
"Ah, shut up. So he killed a damned wolf in front of us. Do you know how many wolves I have personally killed after that? Your fraud son is not strong, mother. He just used his girlfriend’s money to buy some weapons, and now he is just showing off with that and cheating and lying to us. It is that stock market investment all over again. Your son will always be that same old loser who dreamt of making it big on YouTube and Twitch and clearly failed every single chance he got!"
Right at this moment, Damon calmly opened the door and went inside. Though he had heard every single comment about him, he simply pretended not to have heard anything at all. "How is everyone doing?" He flashed a big smile, absolutely giving no shit about Georgina.
How could everyone else be as shameless as him? Every single member of his family had an awkward look on their face. Linda could not hold it in any longer and started blurting out. "Damon... did you really borrow..." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Coincidentally, the door opened once again, and this time it was Sylvara at their doorstep. "I am sorry for barging in like this without even knocking, but time is of the essence, and we need to leave right away." Sylvara bowed to everyone and then directly looked at Damon as she said this.
Damon understood her instantly. "Let’s go now."
Georgina immediately scoffed. "I am not going anywhere with you. Why should I-"
This time, Damon did not let her continue talking and cut her off. "If you do not want to come, then stay back and die."
Georgina’s forehead vein throbbed at the rudeness, and her anger peaked. She instantly erupted and went to Damon, holding the collar of his shirt. "What did you just say to me?"
However, Damon did not answer this time. He simply stared at her, his crimson eyes boring right into her. Georgina trembled. She started sweating profusely as her heart palpitated and her eyes zoned out. She was having a full-blown panic attack or something.
Fear. She felt a primal fear that she had never before experienced in her entire life.
Her hands, which had gripped Damon’s collar with such righteous fury a second ago, now hung limply at her sides. Her knees threatened to buckle. Her throat went dry. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to hide, to submit because whatever was staring back at her through those crimson eyes wasn’t the same man she knew.
It was not just her. Everyone else in the room also couldn’t help but shudder. Even Sylvara became tense as she quickly stepped in once again and urged everyone. "We really need to leave now."
"Got it." Damon nodded and then almost growled. "Let’s go. Now."
Sylvara led everyone out of the living quarters, and the group moved quickly, no one daring to speak back or delay anymore. Georgina quietly picked up her little girl, who was sleeping next door, and followed everyone, completely silent.
Damon’s father, Anderson, glanced at him occasionally but did not say anything. John, as well, remained silent. The group soon reached some sort of airport hangar, and Damon was shocked to see Artimius already standing there, waiting for them. His long silver hair was tied neatly behind his head, not a single strand out of place. His emerald robe fluttered ever so slightly in the wind.
Damon did not know why, but right at this moment, the old man looked kind of sad.
"We meet again, Blood God." Artimius smiled. "Though I wish it were under better circumstances.
"Likewise," Damon replied. "But I suppose better circumstances are a luxury we no longer have."
Artimius gave a slow nod. "Indeed. It is truly a pity that we weren’t able to cooperate or become allies like I had hoped. I haven’t even provided you with the safe harbor I promised. This old man has truly failed on all fronts."
Damon’s eyes slightly widened. He did not understand why the shrewd old guy was acting so differently today.
