SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 218: What is yours is mine?
Chapter 218: What is yours is mine?
As the rest of the family shuffled deeper into the corridor, bickering softly over who would take which room, Damon allowed himself a small sigh of relief. Things had escalated exponentially, and it felt as if a huge storm had passed him.
However, it did not matter. He was pretty sure there was another storm waiting, like five minutes away. Damon shook his head helplessly at the thought. At least they were all safe for now. In the meantime, it was time to make more preparations. First things first.
"Lo Rocha, can you teleport this whole castle to some remote corner of this world where no one else is there. Can you also make sure that it’s invisible, cannot be detected by any means, and all that?"
La Rocha didn’t answer immediately.
"Yes or no?" Damon asked once again.
"Yes. Yes. I can do it, but I must warn you. All my resources are going to run dry at this rate. If you still force me to do things, then I would have to dig into treasures to keep things up and running. Using the treasures which I had painstakingly collected for eons as a simple power source is not beneficial for either of us."
Damon’s ears immediately perked up at the mention of treasures. "He stopped the item spirit rant with a quick suggestion. I can farm some mana cores and hand them to you for power supply. Don’t worry about that."
La Rocha snorted. "Whatever." And then he begrudgingly added. "Master." It was almost as if he were afraid of another system punishment.
Damon did not care. "Cough. Cough. Since we are anyway on the topic of treasures, how about you let me take a look at this treasure collection? Let me see what all can be used. Cough. I mean, let me take a look and admire all of your precious items. No touching, just seeing." He laughed.
La Rocha snorted once again. " I am afraid that’s not possible." He instantly shot Damon down.
"Huh?" Damon acted as if he were very confused. "Wait a second. Didn’t you tell me that what is yours is mine? Wait, am I hallucinating these days?" He clicked his tongue and gave an exaggerated sigh.
"Oh, no, you’re not hallucinating," La Rocha replied with immediate venom. "I did say that. But right now, thanks to you, I am in an extremely weakened state. Before you bound me, all my top-tier treasures were automatically placed in a vault which I would only be able to access when I am in my most perfect state, completely healed."
Damon’s face twitched. "La Rocha. Buddy. Pal. You can’t say things like that and then put terms and conditions in a place where I can’t see them."
The item spirit did not answer. Damon continued to bug the guy in five different ways about the same thing, but he could only give up in the end. It looked like he needed very specific conditions to be met to force the item spirit to help him.
Well, whatever. It was fine. It was just day 1 after all. The battle between them was going to go on for a few hundred years. There was no need to get stressed out in the very first exchange. For now, there were other things on his mind.
Damon placed his hands on the castle and tried to get a feel for it. He wanted to see if he was connected to the whole thing and if he could sense if anything was wrong or if there was any intruder. He wanted to get more familiar with the place.
However, just as he was about to do some experiments, Sylvara walked in, announcing herself. "Damon, may I speak to you for a moment?"
Damon withdrew his hand from the cold, rune-etched brick wall and turned toward her. His eyes narrowed slightly. "Sure," he said, brushing off his distracted thoughts and folding his arms. "What’s on your mind?"
Sylvara stepped closer, her usual grace and elegance back. Her silver hair was damp from the snow outside, and her expression was unreadable and poised. She had regained her composure somewhat.
"It’s about the others. Not my entire family was involved in this..." She slightly paused and then continued. "Betrayal."
"Okay." Damon nodded. Honestly, he did not have anything against her or the clan. It was just that single person who brought about the ruin of their entire family.
"Nevin, a few elders and another two people are still back in the main family base. After everything that has happened, I worry for their safety." She added with a sigh.
"Please, you do not have to worry about their loyalty. They are extremely loyal to me and my grandfather. You don’t even have to permanently take care of them. Maybe if you can give us a few days to think of something and make our preparations, we will be extremely grateful."
Damon studied her face for a long moment, gauging every flicker of emotion that tried and failed to hide behind her composed façade. There was no desperation in her voice, only quiet conviction and something even rarer, trust. Not in herself. In him.
"You think they’ll be targeted." Damon said softly." The legacy families won’t take this lying down. If they suspect even one of them supported you... they’ll vanish. Quietly."
Sylvara nodded. "Exactly. Nevin is already making contingency plans, but with everything happening so fast..." She trailed off, biting her lower lip. "We have to assume all our safe locations were also compromised. At least we have to check first. We just need a window. A few days. Just enough time for them to relocate."
Damon let out a slow breath, then turned and walked toward the nearest viewing window, overlooking the vast snow-covered lands. Snow was falling again. He tapped a finger against the sill and nodded. "Okay, let’s do it."
Sylvara gave a polite bow. "I am very grateful for all the help."
"Don’t worry about it." Damon immediately sent a mental command for La Rocha to take the castle to their headquarters first. The item spirit grumbled again but eventually agreed.
