SSS Class Awakening: Start With A God-Level Choice System-Chapter 160: The Sovereign’s Spear, The Glutton’s Fang
When Ainsworth heard Elyndra’s words, he was flabbergasted as he repeated what he had heard, as if uncertain if he was mishearing, ’Move forward together? Claw your way to my side? Making sure I never stand alone?’ 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
’Is Elyndra confessing to me? Or are her words out of pure rivalry with no romantic undertones?’
Ainsworth knew that one of the misconceptions of life included the question of "Does she like me?".
Because of that, he dared not overthink and assume any further, as it would only lead to more unresolved doubts.
In the end, he ultimately thought, ’Whether it’s pure rivalry or if she truly had feelings for me, I’ll know after our spar, especially when I confess my love for her. For now, I should focus my attention on this spar.’
Regaining his composure, Ainsworth didn’t drop the kitchen knife but instead asked Elyndra, "Do you want to continue the spar or not? You should already know the gap between us. Let alone you, only one person on Earth can defeat me."
Remembering something, Ainsworth then decided to reveal one of his areas of expertise that could aid Elyndra in her throne succession trial, "With my skills, I can kill anyone aside from the World’s Strongest. My methods make it so that I can prevent others from tracing the assassination back to me."
Knowing Ainsworth’s intentions, Elyndra noted what he said, but she acted as if she had no intentions of assassinating her sisters. Instead, she replied to his first question, "At first, my purpose of sparring with you was to see if you are worthy to stand as my equal."
"Now, the situation has changed, and our role has reversed. Let’s continue our duel, but this time, I’ll be the one to convince you that I’m worthy to stand by your side."
Hearing Elyndra’s straightforward declaration, Ainsworth chuckled, "Then I’m looking forward to it."
Not refusing her intentions of sparring with him to prove her worthiness, he used Freedom of Movement to teleport a hundred meters away from her.
After freeing Elyndra from his kitchen knife that he had previously pointed at her neck, he gave her a considerable amount of distance between them so that she could prepare thoroughly.
’I have a lot of abilities and techniques, but since it’s merely a spar, I’ll use the ones that will be difficult to deal with but not impossible. I have already mastered my power, so I won’t encounter a situation where I could accidentally kill someone with it.’
Having such a thought, Ainsworth told Elyndra, "I’ll let you make the first move."
Elyndra didn’t refuse as she tightly held the hilt of Regal Severance and imbued it with Tyrannical energy, aura, mana, and Rulership Energy. Like Ainsworth, Elyndra awakened both aura and mana, unlike Dante, who only awakened aura, and Nyx, who only awakened mana.
However, unlike him, Elyndra couldn’t use them interchangeably, like using aura as mana. Nevertheless, she could still use it when performing her Valtoria Imperial Sword Art as an amplifier for its power.
Elyndra steadied her breath, Regal Severance glowing with a domineering brilliance. She thrust forward, and in that moment, the sword was no longer a blade but the decree of a ruler.
A spear of concentrated, tyrannical energy erupted from the tip, piercing forward with the force to brand all opposition as mere subjects. It was not simply sharpness or strength. It was law. Armor, barriers, even the will to resist bent before its advance.
"Valtoria Imperial Sword Art, Style 3: The Sovereign’s Spear!"
The air collapsed into a thin line that extended endlessly, reality itself parting to make way for the sovereign’s thrust.
Ainsworth reacted instantly, using his space portal superpower. Raising his hand, spatial ripples formed before him, a vortex of distortion bending into a circular portal. Its other end unfolded behind Elyndra, aimed so that her own spear would strike her back if it passed through.
The clash was immediate. The Sovereign’s Spear pressed into the warped space, drilling against the spiraling distortion with unstoppable authority. For a heartbeat, the portal held, redirecting the torrent of dominion.
But then, cracks ran through the warped space like glass under pressure. Elyndra’s sword art was more than energy. It carried a rule of subjugation, one that denied even the manipulation of space.
Ainsworth narrowed his eyes as the spear pierced through the collapsing portal, splitting it apart as if refusing to be bound. The redirected thrust shattered free, its edge of sovereignty extending past his trick and racing toward him unhindered.
He smirked despite the danger. "As expected of a Crown Princess of Valtoria. Even space itself yields to your will."
"However, even if I don’t use the same trick twice, I have an arsenal of them."
Deciding not to hide in the alternate dimension again, Ainsworth made use of the kitchen knives in his hands as well as his God-Level Cooking talent, as he whispered, "Knife Art: Devouring Fang."
The blades gleamed with a strange luster, no longer ordinary steel but vessels of hunger. As Elyndra’s Sovereign’s Spear surged toward him, the knives carved through the air in a sweeping cross.
A rule of gluttony erupted. The knives bit into the energy itself, "chewing" the thrust of dominion and drawing it inward. The tyrannical power that should have crushed all resistance instead bent toward the edges of his blades, siphoned away like a feast being devoured.
The materialized knives pulsed with newfound weight and hardness, their durability multiplying as if tempered by the sovereign energy they consumed. Yet Ainsworth did not allow the technique to fully gorge itself. With precise control, he halted the knives’ hunger before they swallowed everything.
The remainder of Elyndra’s attack was redirected skyward in a stream of blazing light. Above, the heavens split open with the brilliance of a rejected decree.
Ainsworth twirled the knives, his eyes flashing with focus. "Culinary Transmutation."
Under the effects of Culinary Transmutation (SSS), the released energy folded in on itself, compacting into a sphere of light that reshaped into something tangible.
In the next breath, it condensed into a plate of steaming food hovering before him.
He caught it casually with one hand, took a bite, and smiled as the power dissolved into his body. The strength of Elyndra’s Sovereign’s Spear flowed into his veins, fully devoured in a way that seemed impossible.
Elyndra’s eyes widened as she realized what had just happened. Not only had her technique been negated, but it had been turned into nourishment.
"You... ate my sword art?" she asked, stunned.
Ainsworth licked his lips, the kitchen knife gleaming faintly in his hand. "A meal fit for royalty. But I must say, your flavor is a bit too domineering."
